ASHES OF LOVE: PROLOGUE
Staring at the window, I release a sigh. Then I looked at Aaron Trev. I stared at him for a couple of seconds. I opened my lips to utter some words. I know I have already asked him this question so many times that I even lost count. But I just can't help it. I want to ask him and ask him until my mind agrees with his statement.
"Who I really am?"
He averted his gaze at me, then he heaves a sighed like he's losing some strand of patience again. "You are Maria Georgina Echavez. You're turning 22 this May. You graduated Bachelor of Arts in History in MSU-IIT...and you're my fiance," he told me.
I arched my brow at him. Fiance... I don't really remember that. Well, I can't even remember who I am, so basically I would have no idea who on earth this man is. I know he already me that he's Aaron Trev Reyes and he's my fiance, but I do not believe him.
I lost my memories, and it does not mean that he's telling those information means it's the whole truth, right? He can fabricate everything since I don't remember my past.
"I want to go back to my family," I said. A sense of horror crosses his eyes, but it was so quick that it changes to irritation. He's irritated and that's because of me.
"We have already talked about it, Maggy."
I shut my eyes and when I opened them, I fired him the same intensity he's giving me. "If you really wish for me to remember everything then you should bring me back to my family! How could I remember my past if you're just going to isolate me in this mountain?!"
It's been two weeks already since we stayed in this mountain. I don't even know where the hell is this, but he told me we're still in the Philippines. The houses here are so far from each other, and most of the people here are farmers. Well, I do not have a problem with that, it's just that I do not want to be isolated here without knowing everything.
"It's dangerous, Maggy. Just please, trust me." His eyes were almost pleading me to believe him —to trust him.
He told me the reason why I lost my memories. Basically, it was because I was hit by a car, which was two weeks ago. Cliché may it seems, but that what really happens. And I wake-up only to find out that I am already stuck in this mountain with him —which I do not remember.
"Let's stay here for a couple of months, Maggy. I promise you; once your wounds heal we will immediately go back." There's sincerity in his eyes.
Defeated, I nodded to his statement. He promised me, and I'll hold in that little hope.
"Just make sure you're true to your words, Aaron." And with that, I left him alone inside our nipa-hut house.
