Silently we ate our breakfast. None of us dared to talk. I could even hear his breathing due to our silence. But I think it's better this way.
Aaron went out after our breakfast. He fetches me some water since I requested him to do so. I just wanted to wash myself. We had a small quarrel with regards to it, but at the end, he defeatingly agreed to my request.
"Are you feeling better?"
I gaze Aaron. I do not know if how many times he had asked me that question today. I can sense that he has something to ask aside from that, and maybe he chose not to speak it for some reasons.
I nodded at him. "Thanks to the medicines, I am now better than yesterday."
He nodded at my response, but his eyes didn't left mine. He just stared me, and even if I'm no good at reading people, I can see through his eyes the worriness that he etched in his face.
"Do you want to say something? You look bothered, Aaron."
He fell into silent. He kicked his lips. "Have you… HaHave you remembered something, haven't you?"
My heart started raising. What should I do? Lie to him? But I can't stand myself lying to him. I mean, I even hate the thought of him probably just fooling me, so might as well should I not do it to him.
"Yes. I remembered you…" I paused. I looked away. I averted my gaze to the window. "I remembered you beating me, Aaron. And I was so scared… You looked like a monster from that memory," I told him as honest as I could.
I heard him sighed. "That happened before I get finally know you, Maggy. And I'm sorry if I did that."
I gasped silently then averted my gaze to him. He admitted it. He did beat me up. Wow. And I'm staying with him now? Fate must be so playful that I landed in his arms again.
Wait… I couldn't process it properly.
"Why?" I asked almost a whisper. There should be a reason. He could not have beaten me up without any reason.
"You've broke something so important to me."
Bowled over, I stared him. I shook my head. Tap my forehead with my palm. Later on, I mocked a silent laughed.
"Just for a thing, you beat me up? Are you human, Aaron?" I asked him unbelievably.
He shut his eyes. He looks so troubled now. He tried to hold my arm but I distance myself.
"I told you already, it happened before I could finally know you."
"And you want me to believe that? Are are you really telling me the truth?"
His shoulder lowered. He looked down, defeated.
"So you're really doubting me? You didn't really trust me at all, did you?" he asked using his low voice. "All your good treatments are just your way of paying my good intentions? I know you're prideful person, and you do not want to be indebt with others. Is that the reason why you're being good to me now?" he added.
And that shut me up. Because yes, partly I've been doing good things to him just because he's taking care of me, and not because I already trusted him.
Staying in my silence, I tried to recollect the memories I just recently remembered.
Three years ago...
Carrying a clean set of bedsheets, I walk upstairs, and then looked for the second door from the left.
I'm going to change the bedsheet of this room. Although the owner of this room is not always here, which is a guy named Aaron Trev, his mother always reminded me to change its bedding every after two weeks —which I willingly do.
I've been a housemaid for three months in this house, and within that months, I've never seen the face of the Aaron Trev they are saying. Well, I have no interest in him.
"I was right, you're actually here!"
I almost jumped from horror upon hearing a baritone voice coming from the door. I gazed the person, and I almost rolled my eyes when I see who the person is.
"What are you doing here, Drexler?" I asked.
Drexler is the second degree cousin of Aaron Trev, and he's always here in this house —well, of course he should be since he's staying here.
His parents are both in abroad, and since this guy wanted to finish his study at MSU-IIT, he chose to stay here.
I saw him smiled at me before sliding himself inside the room. He then sat at the bed.
"I miss you, George." I make a face in his statement.
Since he's staying here, the two of us became friends, and yeah, he's calling me George. Everyone in this house calls me Maggy or Georgina, and this i***t just want to call me something that is unique, and that's basically the name George.
"Will you please stop pestering me, Drexler? As you can see I am working." I even glared at him.
He chuckled. "You free tomorrow?"
I gazed him. "Nope. Tomorrow is Sunday, Drexler. And you clearly know that it's my Military Science class, and it's a f*****g whole day training, in case you forgot."
He titled his head, while biting his lower lip. "Do you want me to pick you up?" he offered.
I shook my head. "I can ride a jeepney, Dear."
I just don't know but I saw how happiness glimmers in his eyes, as his lips formed a grinned. "Oh, Dear. I really love it when you call me dear. Can't wait for you to become my girl, George."
I continuously shakes my head. "You're insane, Drexler."
He nodded, as he agreed to my statement. "Insanely in love with you."
I glared at him, but he just barks into laughters. He's always like this. He loves to tease, and pester me whenever he has a time. But I always told myself not to fall from his trick.
Well, Drexler is a playboy. I've even seen him brought someone in his room and only that poor corners witness what they might have done in an hour. But they surely have done something since when the woman left, I saw how crumpled her clothes are.
"Just get your ass out of here, Drexler. I still have a lot of things to do. Shoo!"
The jerk just laughed at me, and before leaving the room, he winked at me. Tsk.
