It was one year since the betrayal of her parents. Athena still never really forgave her parents for the misery she was put through, the conversations were minimal, only her mother seemed to put in the effort, Athena appreciated it yes she despised how one sided the relationship had become.
Athena allowed the water droplets to trickle down her pale body, running her slim fingers through her brunette hair. A sigh slipped past her lips, switching off the shower.
She stood, exposed, in front of the large bathroom mirror. A large, yellow bruise covering a large stretch of her ribs.
Athena snapped back to the present reality at the sound of the door handle wiggling. "I'll just be a second" she spoke with a soft voice.
"Be quick" the strong, sharp voice which belonged to Evander, her husband.
"Yes,sir" Athena replied quickly, rushing to get dressed. She despised Evander, he treated her like a slave, there was no kindness, never mind love and passion.
Athena made herself down the large, marble stairs which had a velvet carpet running down the middle.
She made her way into the large, open plan kitchen. Looking through the fridge to gather the fresh ingredients to make herself and her husband breakfast.
She lived a luxurious life, she couldn't deny that. Her husband had endless amounts of money which he would allow her to have, although she felt awful taking it. They lived in a luxery villa on the coast of the beach, her clothes where from the highest brands possible. However she could not appreciate it, she wanted to but when love is forced, it's not love. She and her husband have never slept in the same bed in the year they've been together.
"Breakfast, sir" Athena spoke with a smile, nervously placing the plate in front of him. She could never seem to please him no matter what. Evanders words would always lingre in her mind, as well as the bruises which where placed upon her skin.
"Hm. It's better than normal" he snarled, his dark blue eyes glaring at the small woman.
Athena sighed, she felt like she was being tortured for something yet she wasn't quite sure what.
"I'll improve, sir" she spoke softly, sighing quietly so he was not able to hear.
"I am attending a party tonight, and you are my plus one" Evander spoke, his lips pressed tightly together. "You will take my card and take yourself to the mall, get something nice, I don't want you showing me up" he added, his voice cold and stern.
"I won't show you up sir, you deserve the best" Athena replied, a soft smile on her lips, not wanting to upset the strong man, she was scared of her husband and rightly so-she only had her parents she could tell yet the refuse to believe their daughter.
"How can I get the best when you're my wife" Evander snapped, his large hand gripping her face. "You know the consequences if you show me up" he spat, pushing her head backwards.
Athena stayed quiet after that, her gaze drifting to the plate. Suddenly, she wasn't Hungry anymore.
There was 6 hours left until they would be leaving for the party, she was just about to leave to meet her friend for some guidance on what to wear to avoid upsetting the man she called her husband.
She arrived at the mall, her eyes grazing around until they landed on her friend who was waving at her from the entrance.
"Hey, pretty girl" her friend, Georgina squealed, her arms wrapping around the slightly shorter girl.
"Hey, Georgina" Athena replied with a bright smile on her face, a genuine smile.
The two young woman wondered the mall which was only occupied by high end designers, only the richest could afford to even step a foot inside the large, exquisite building.
"This will be the perfect place" her friend pointed to a small shop which had a arched, pristine entrance.
After a picking out a few dresses, Athena believed she found the one.
It was a black lace dress which hugged Athena's curved figure nicely, the dress was slim fitted all the way down her legs with a slit down the right side, showing off her leg beautifully.
"Not bad, now don't show me up" Evander snarled, before they left for the party.
