I stared at my friend, quite open-mouthed. If I could have guessed at any suggestions that she might make, it would not have included those.
“I don’t know what to say. This is all too much. It’s such a shock, too much to take in.”
Marnie smiled sympathetically.
“I know. I am sorry to be blunt, but I cannot lie to you. You will have to stay here, and you cannot live as you once did. This is a very different world.”
I nodded.
“Can I stay here until tomorrow morning? Here, in this room? I don’t feel up to seeing anyone.”
“Sure, but you will have to see my lord and lady tomorrow morning. There’s no way around it. I will stay with you, and Jack, Gudarro, Sophie and Leonie will drop by if you like.”
