"Mr. Henry!"
Henry received a call from the butler after leaving home for less than half an hour.
"Madam and Little Master are gone!"
Without hesitation, he drove back immediately.
"Mr. Henry, we have searched everywhere, inside and out, even the bushes in the garden, but we didn't see them!"
The butler sweated anxiously. "Madam said she wanted to coax the Little Master to sleep. She said that she would leave after he fell asleep and asked us not to guard. Then, she had a mother-to-son talk with the Little Master, but who knows..."
"All right!" Henry shouted. The butler was so scared that he shut his mouth. Those unfinished words ended up stuffing his throat with anger.
Then, he coldly turned around and entered Susan's room.
He and Susan slept in separate rooms. It was the first time for him to enter her room in the past five years. Her room was very clean, different from his awe-inspiring style of cleanliness. Hers was comfortable, as if one had walked into a gentle harbour.
There was a large pink bed with some dolls on it. Her desk was very neat, and there was a book opened on it. She was probably reading it before getting called out of the room.
Maybe she thought she could come back and continue, but little did she expect the next time she returned to the room, it would turn into a farewell instead.
Henry took a glance at the book and noticed a file under the table lamp next to the book.
At this moment, he frowned and proceeded to open the file, where there was a stack of checks tied with a rubber band.
He flipped it over and over again, and it was the living expenses he had given her every month for the past five years. It turned out that she had not used a single cent…
For some reason, Henry held the checks tighter and tighter, and even a stack of checks was easily crumpled by him.
"Mr. Hen..." The voice of the butler beside him got him back to his senses. Putting the checks aside, he found a divorce agreement and a note from the same file.
The agreement had already been signed, and there was a passage on the side note: "Hey! Mr. Henry! You asked me to leave in three days, and I left within thirty minutes.
Particularly obedient, am I? I don't want anything from you, so you don't have to keep mine either. From now on, you do you, and I'll do me. We are even!"
Such a tone... Henry couldn't imagine it at all. These were the words written by the reserved Susan, who had been his wife for five years.
In the past five years, had she been pretending to be sensible?
For what?.
Henry's eyes darkened, and he subconsciously crumpled the paper note over and over again. Suddenly, he felt that something was wrong. With a frown, he turned over the note, and as expected, there was another sentence on the back,
"Henry! You are a bad guy! Either you kneel down and apologize to Mommy, or I will never come back!”
Zion's handwriting was crooked and messy. Also, some of the words were misspelt because he didn't know how to spell them.
It was then that Zion held the note tightly again and lost his nerves. For the first time in his life, he had the thought of getting Susan back.
"Go and get the surveillance video out, including those within a five-kilometre radius..."
Right when Henry was in the middle of giving out orders while rubbing his temple, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
He paused and answered the phone. "Beyonce ? You came back early?”
"Mr. Henry, you can't..."
The butler panicked as he watched Henry walking out with the phone.
He hurried to catch up but was stopped by Henry's assistant.
"Luis, you should be clearer than I regarding Miss Beyonce's position in Mr. Henry's heart."
Luis stopped. Of course, he knew how important Beyonce was to his Young Master. But now, Madam had run away with the Little Master, who was the flesh and blood of the Henry family!
Now it was going to rain soon, and who knew whether they had an umbrella with them!.
Luis's eyes were red with anxiety, but Henry had already gotten in the car. In a blink of an eye, the car disappeared after his assistant took the drive.
Luis could only speechlessly watch them leave and sigh in his heart. Perhaps for his Young Master, only the child born from him and Beyonce deserved to be called the flesh and blood of the Henry family.
What a pity for the Madam and the Little Master. They were really good people…
He shook his head helplessly, turned around and walked into the Henry family's villa. When he was about to close the door, the roar of thunder came from the outside.
Immediately, it started raining cats and dogs!
"Mommy, I'm so cold..." Under the dark rainy night, Susan was dragging her luggage and holding the trembling Zion in her arms. They were taking shelter under a high-rise building.
Susan took off her coat and wrapped it around Zion. Then, she held his cold little hands in her palm and warmed them with her breath.
"Mommy... aren't you cold?" Zion was freezing until his teeth were chattering, and he couldn't even speak properly.
"Mommy is not cold. I feel rather warm right now. Hurry up and wrap your clothes tighter. I will warm you up." Susan sweet-talked him.
She rubbed his cold little face with the not-so-warm hands of hers before hugging him in her arms. The warmth of her body was the last option left that could still provide heat.
As she squatted under the eaves with Zion in her arms, she looked at the rain in vain. The passers-by gave her a curious look at first but soon became disdainful and disgusted after seeing her desolate situation, as if they were silently judging her.
Why was a young girl living a homeless life now? Did she do something indiscreet and was driven out by her family?.
Susan bit her lip and ignored their gazes. At the same time, her lost and saddened eyes glazed across the falling rain and fell onto the large LED screen of the opposite building.
It was a live broadcast screen. The scene in the live broadcast now was the airport, showing a tall woman in a beige windbreaker walking gracefully. She was born to be a princess, dignified and elegant.
Susan knew her. She was the person in Henry's heart, Beyonce.
The smile on Beyonce was like a breeze in the spring. As soon as she walked out of the exit, a man in a long coat came up to her. He reached out to hold her waist and took her into his arms. Then, the two looked at each other and smiled happily. It was a warming scene.
If it weren't for the bone-chilling coldness on her body, for a moment, Susan really couldn't recognize that tender-looking Henry shown on the screen. The man in casual clothes was her ex-husband who just coldly proposed divorce to her an hour ago.
Ah! He is such a handsome man and a beautiful woman! What a perfect match!.
Susan's eyes were fixed on the screen, while the cold wind had made her eyes red.
However, she was still motionless until the two of them, who were hugging each other on the screen, got into the car and left the scene.
Only then, she slowly lowered her eyebrows, and a drop of hot tears suddenly rolled down. It fell on Zion's face and woke him up.
"Mommy, don't cry." He raised his little hand and wiped Susan's tears softly. "I'm here."
When she heard his words, a lump formed in her throat. She hugged him and burst into tears.
In the middle of a windy night, her figure looked particularly frail, and her cries were heart-wrenching.
It was really over. Everything her marriage, love, and self-deception was all over.
Everything was washed away by the heavy rain. Other than the scars in her heart, there was nothing else left.
Henry, from now on, we are nothing but strangers!.
There would be no love anymore!
