Chapter 1: The Divorce Announcement
"Let's get a divorce."
Susan didn't expect that her husband, who had never spoken to her in the five years they had been married and had a 4-year-old child, would tell her such terrible news.
When Henry stated this, he was dressed in a military uniform, giving his slender build an imposing appearance.
As cold as a towering iceberg, he straightened himself in front of Susan with a terrifying and strong demeanour.
His family had been in the army for many generations, and he was Boho's youngest general. He was the most respected person among his peers. Then again, he had the support of his elders and had made great achievements.
There was no room to refute what he said.
Susan had always been aware of this matter.
"Here is $540,000,000." When Henry put up his hand, the guard behind him gave her a check in a polite way. During the five years that Susan was married to him, she was used to getting checks for 10 million each month. She did not see her husband as often as she saw the checks, though.
Henry had a distinctive and charming look, with facial features like those of a statue.
Although he had a cold expression all year round, Susan had never been afraid of him. After all, she could only see him a few times a year.
Regardless, today was her first time sensing the coldness of this valiant general in battle. It was as cold as a winter night's wind, softly blowing and piercingly cold.
"I don't need it." She refused since the check was pointless to her.
Henry didn't care if she said no. Instead, he had the guard make her receive the million-dollar bill. He then commanded, "Get out of here by tonight."
"Here" he was referring to their home.
To be exact, Susan had been alone "here" for five years. She let out a sigh as she lifted her head, feeling helpless and unsure.
"How about Zion then?"
Susa was not a stunning beauty, but she was well-groomed. Her snow-white skin was flawless. Her perfect oval face was gentle and sweet. On top of that, she had dazzling clear eyes that could allow one to see everything with just a glance.
But even so, for Henry, she was just a piece of item that he could pass by without a second thought.
Henry hesitated for a while and looked at Susan with doubt.
She gave him a bitter smile in return. "Zion, our son."
She adored the nickname Zion that had been given to their son. Despite her calling it for four years, Henry still had no idea who it was.
"The bloodline of the Henry family stays in the Henry family," he frowned and said firmly.
Susan's eyes had already begun to turn red before she could even hold it in. She bit her lip to control her trembling body from sorrow.
"Pack up your things and leave. Just leave your address. The divorce certificate will be sent to you." After finishing his last sentence, he left without any hesitation.
This woman was someone Henry met accidentally through a one-night stand five years ago. He could have gotten away with it with money, but then she was already pregnant.
He had absolutely no affection for her. His heart belonged to another woman.
Susan remembered that when she received the marriage certificate, Henry didn't even show up. All of their wedding portraits were later photoshopped by hired professionals.
Throughout her pregnancy, he diligently applied for business trips for a whole year. So, for the time that she was pregnant, she was all alone.
She was in so much pain in the operating room that every time she passed out, she had dreams of Henry standing beside her, holding her hand.
Sadly, she was still alone in the cold operating room when she opened her eyes.
He didn't even pay her a single visit when she was recuperating in the hospital bed. Despite the hardships Susan had suffered over the past five years, she had never caused him any trouble.
She remained silent because she was afraid that he might abandon her someday.
She made every effort to stay away from the whole that made Henry resent her, but she had no idea that in the end, he would still abandon her.
Then, for what reason had she been so well-behaved and considerate in the past five years?
"Stop!" she shouted. Susan halted Henry at the entrance and demanded, "Why now?"
Why didn't he divorce her when they just got married? That way, she wouldn't have dumbly wasted her time for five whole years.
Why didn't he divorce before having a child? Otherwise, she would not have dreamed that after having done so, both of them could live a normal life as husband and wife together.
Why must it be now?
"She had returned." Henry stopped in his tracks, but he didn't look back. His back reflected the coldness of the night, which stung Susan deeply. The uncontrollable joy in his calm tone made her heart ache even more.
She had returned…
Who else could she be?
Of course, Susan knew that Beyonce was the only woman he had ever loved.
Yes, Henry also knew how to love, but did he realise that she had loved him for ten years?.
It was longer than the time that he had been in love with Beyonce.
