Chapter 2: The Choice Of Zion

1005 Words
"I will not divorce." Susan didn't know how much courage she had taken to say these four words. After saying this, she didn't even dare to look at Henry. She kept her head lowered, stared at her shoes, and quickly remarked, "You may not know that, even before I was...". "Susan" Although Henry was cold and arrogant, due to his warriors' morals, he seldom addressed people by their full names. There were only two situations for him to address people by their full names. The first was toward the person he liked, and the second was when he was angry. Right now, it was obvious that it was the latter. Susan immediately held her breath. "I've put up with this marriage for the past five years because you're pregnant. What is more, you are obedient and will not cause any trouble. But now Beyonce has returned. No matter how sensible you are, you should not come between us. I don't want her to feel upset or depressed because of a misunderstanding.” Susan had forgotten to breathe, and her eyes were clouded by her tears. "You have three days to leave this place. If you continue to resist, you won't be able to afford the consequences." Henry disappeared from the hall as soon as he finished speaking. His steps were firm and determined, as if he had just finished a meal here instead of just having ended a five-year marriage. In the large hall, Susan was left alone. She shivered when the icy wind blew through the open door, and soon she fell to the ground. "Afraid that she will be sad? Then do you know that I will also be sad? I will be devastated too..." She cried to herself. She was certain that Henry didn't know her sorrow, but if she had told him out loud, he might have known. She was silent for far too long; she was silent for five years. In the end, what she received was not Henry's understanding but his threat. "Henry…”Susan was sobbing so hard that she was unable to speak clearly. "It's the last time... This is the last time I'm going to listen to you. I won't pester you anymore in the future." She trembled and got onto her feet. While wiping her tears, she walked over to close the door and made her way upstairs. Upstairs was Zion's room. His little body was wrapped in a big, comfy bed, warm adorable round face was enough to make anyone in awe. "Mommy, where are we going?" He was not as frigid as Henry. Instead, he was soft and adorable. However, it was clear from a single glance that he was indeed born as a noble through his strong inherent mannerisms. Desolation made Susan dumbfounded, and her hands came to a halt from packing the bags. Where to? Where else could she go? She married Henry at the age of eighteen. For the past five years, she only knew how to be a silent and sensible wife to be kept by his side, even for just a second. But she had no idea where she should go now that she had to leave him. But what if she didn't know where to go? At least she was clear now that she wanted to leave here and take Zion with her. Just by recalling his ruthless figure and frigid stare, Susan didn't want to stay here any longer. If she stayed any longer, it would seem as though he were mocking her stupidity. "We have to leave here and start a new life." With that, she went back to packing the bags. "But Mommy, didn't you say you won't give up Henry even if Young were to seduce you?" Susan was so startled that she almost bit herself. Although her words sounded silly, it was true that she said it herself. She was madly in love with Henry. Now, she realized that "insane" was the right word to describe her. Even though the man never saw her as his wife, she was insane enough to willfully give up everything she had for him. Even though she was terrified of thunder, she was insane enough to hold herself back from asking him if he could come back and accompany her. She ended up curled up in bed, trembling in terror when it rained, since she knew he only accepted her because she was sensible. She was insane enough to keep being a sensible Mrs Henry, but all she got in return from him was his frigid actions toward her that was like a dagger that stabbed her and left an everlasting scar in her most frail heart. Susan realized herself that since she had been insane for ten years and it was time she stopped. "I didn't give up on Henry. It's him who doesn't want me." She tried her best to say these words with joy, but she couldn't do it. With a sniff, she held back her tears as she picked up a coat and wrapped it around Zion. "Zion, Mommy will ask you once again. Do you want to come with me?. You must know that, after you walk out of the door of the Henry family, you will no longer be a young master. You will not have a butler and a nanny to take care of you anymore, nor will you be served delicious cakes. Everything you have now, except for Mommy, will be gone. " "Well..." Zion turned to gaze around his magnificent room, his favourite toy models, his favourite pillow, and a super delicious cake… Before he settled his gaze on Susan, he looked around and then asked, "Will you always be with me, Mommy?" "Of course." Susan said firmly, "Because after leaving here, you will be the only one Mommy has left." Zion immediately made up his mind and exclaimed, "Then I'll go with you! If Daddy's gone, we can find another, but there's only one Mommy!”
