Dravin's Point of View
The king was looking at his son with a guilty look crossing his face and Levi looked like he was ready to murder his father.
"Son," the king said.
"I am not your son. You murdered my parents because they were mates and did not meet your standards. You have taught me to hate humans when, in fact, I am one of them."
"You are not one of them. You are mine," the king said.
"My genetics beg to differ, but what I want to know is why I have memories of your wife and living on the original lands of our kind. Why do I have memories of being over five hundred years old?"
The king ran his hands over his face and sighed, "Because my son died. He originally survived the collision of the worlds but his longs could not adapt to the changes. One of the elders at the time had magic and he encased my son in a spell. I told everyone my son was away helping other dragon clans become established. When you were sixteen, I had the elder transfer his memories to you and then the elder disappeared. I began introducing you as my son and allowing you out of the wing I put you in."
"You had no right," Levi screamed.
"You were my son but I could not tell everyone my son died and here is a new one. I did not have a mate or anything."
"Did you give me his name?" Levi asked with anger in his voice. The king did not answer. "DID YOU GIVE ME HIS NAME?" Levi said as he slammed his hands on the desk.
"Yes," the king said as he looked away.
No one said anything.
"What does this mean for the anarchy?" Kalya's mother said, with fear in her voice breaking the silence.
I looked around at the council and said, "I purpose that Prince Levi remain the heir to the throne. All those in favor please stand." Suddenly, council member after council member stood, even the elders facing the trail stood as well. "Prince Levi, what do you say?"
Levi looked around the room and then back at me and said, "I will remain as heir to the throne, but this sick basteread has to go" he said, with no emotion in his voice.
"I understand the shock that has come, Prince, but there is more to come. The king will be judged based off of his actions." He opened the book again and skipped several pages and began to read.
"As my son grew I noticed that he had human tendencies but his dragon side was much stronger. He could fly higher up than any of the dragons, stronger then any other I have seen before, and if I could make an army more like him. I gathered human females and began to have my doctors attempt to get them pregnant with a dragon seed. Only three females got pregnant but the children were all still born. We attempted this several times with similar results. Not a single child was born. The doctor suggested using an already pregnant woman and injecting the baby with dragon's blood. So we did. Five children were born. Each child was stronger than the average human and faster, but none of the children made it to live past five years old. The doctors tried several more times but none of the children lived past five years old." Dravin shut the book once more and looked around the room. "Not only has the king killed a council member and his mate, who we have no clue was human or a dragon, but he has also killed children."
"I did not. Yes, those children died but they were part of an experiment. Why they died we do not know, but what we do know is that the mixing of blood does not work." The king shouted.
Before I could say anything, Kayla stood up and said, "I beg to differ. If Prince Levi's mother was truly human and when she mated with her mate, perhaps that changed her DNA. The change in DNA could be the catalyst that allows the children to live."
"Perhaps," the king said as he looked away.
"Are you one hundred percent sure the woman was human?" another council member said.
"She was human," the king said.
"Then I would agree with Princess Kayla's statement."
"Regardless, several children have died because the king was trying to play god. Now, if you think that was all, the king has one more crime added to the list," I said.
"And what would that be?" The king said as he looked at me with a stone-cold look.
"Kayla's mother."
"I have no clue who that girl's mother is."
"OH but you do, even if you don't realize it," I said. I placed my hand on the book and looked around the room. "This journal not only talks about the experiments and the princes' parents but it also talks about what the king has done throughout the years. This journal is his personal journal and it is magically enchanted, so he keeps writing and it appears to be a small book. He did not start this journal until after the worlds collided and he became ruler over this land. The start of the book talks about his feelings about humans, but most importantly he talks about how he sent scouts to look for survivors on our lands. He did in fact find many survivors, but one of them was the queen of ice." Murmurs began to erupt around the room.
"Where is the queen of ice?" A council member asked.
"Dead," the king said with an even tone.
"How?" Kayla asked.
"I do not know. She was found encased in ice. We brought her here but she never emerged from the ice and she never has."
"I do not understand."
Before the king could say anything, I jumped in. "Your highness, ice dragons can go into a deep slumber by encasing themselves in ice. This helps their inner beast connect with land and they come out more juvinated."
"But if she was like this, then how is she dead?"
"If an ice dragon does not emerge after so long from the encasing, they are presumed to be dead. In all honesty, ice dragons keep to themselves and little is known about them."
"Then why would you think she is my mother?"
"Because she is the only survivor of ice dragons that is known."
Kayla closed her eyes and looked at the king. "How do you know she is the queen of ice?"
"I do not have to answer to you," he said.
"Answer her?" I said.
The king sighed, knowing that if he did not answer we would take it as a challenge and sentence him sooner. "Ice dragons who are encased in ice have symbols on the ice stating who they are."
"If she never emerged, then she would not be my mother."
"Correct," the king said.
"I beg to differ. Lets read what the journal states." I opened the journal and began to read.
Today my men brought back several survivors from many territories, but the one that interests me the most is the ice dragon. According to the description on the ice, the person inside is the ice queen and she appears to be the only survivor. No other encasing were found, just dead bodies. Many were covered in snow while others were frozen in it. I had her brought into the eastern wing of the castle with a guard standing watch. So far nothing has happened. She has not emerged and I fear she is dead.
I looked up from the book and said, "I am about to skip several pages because they are of no use." I began to turn the pages and once I was to the part, I needed to be and began to read.
I was sleeping when the guard guarding the ice queen came banging on my door. He informed me that the ice had melted and that she was not responsive. I ran out of my room and to her. She was lying in a puddle of water with blood all over her. The guard had followed me. I asked him what had happened and he said he wasn't sure. Suddenly, he heard a dripping sound but it was storming outside, so he thought water was getting in. But he said suddenly he heard more dripping and the sound of something breaking. When he walked in, the ice was melting quickly and he did not want to leave her. Once the ice was melted, he noticed how she looked and tried to wake her, but she had no life in her. I noticed the blood on the guard but he must have tried to help her. There was only blood on the ground and in the water. The way she looked was as if someone had beaten her and tried to kill her. She must have encased herself to try and heal, but she must not have had enough energy left to heal herself and keep the encasing going.
I closed the book and looked up at the king. "In the journal you had a photo of the ice queen made. I showed that photo to Kayla's mother and she stated that it was Kayla's birth mother. I would like to know the name of that guard who was watching over her?" I said.
The king looked down and then back at me. "Zorlo was the guard."
"Thank you. I would like to conclude this meeting until tomorrow and question Zorlo. Until then, the king and elders are still under confinement. And council members tomorrow we will be voiting. Any questions will be answered at that time."
Everyone stood and the room began to empty.
