Kayla and Levi mated three weeks ago and since then they have been happy, but those around the kingdom are not too pleased with this. The humans in the castle quickly began to talk to those in the village and rumors began to spread. The villagers were not pleased that a cursed girl had won the heart of the prince and feared she would bring destruction to them. They began to meet and plan on making her disappear. As for the other dragons in the castle, they were confused why the king and council were allowing the prince to take a human mate and not be punished for his crimes. Since the king was nowhere to be found, the dragons began to petition the council for them to take action and the council stated that they would be holding a meeting to discuss their concerns soon. Dravin and the council members were busy going through the books in the council chambers but not finding anything. Even Kayla's mother didn't find a photo of Kayla's birth mother in any of the books she was shown. The council members were starting to get frustrated until one of them suggested they search the elders and kings' rooms. So they did. The elders were not too pleased by this but did not put up a fight, as for the king, he cursed them and tried to attack Dravin when he grabbed a journal off of the king's desk. Dravin knew that he needed to read the journal and quickly. The king was hiding something. So far the journal held nothing in it of importance but the king's reaction was enough for Dravin to keep reading through it. As the council members began reading through the new material they gathered, Kalya's hair began to change color. Her golden brown hair began to turn white, her scent became stronger and, as of yesterday, her eyes were turning blue. Draven became suspicious of the type of dragon Kayla was because of the changes she was undergoing. If she was truly an ice dragon, then she was the last of her kind, but all of the ice dragons died when the worlds collided. So how was this possible? As Dravin entered the council chambers he sat down and opened the journal. He was half through it. As he turned the page, suddenly the answers he had been searching for were right there. He kept reading and couldn't believe what he had found. Suddenly, he stood up and ran for the door. Outside the chambers were two guards who had been posted there to ensure the king and elders did not enter. "I need you to gather the council members and the Prince and his mate," Dravin said to the one guard. He then turned to the other and said, "Bring me the Princess's mother quickly and once she is here, bring the elders and the King. Quickly men." The guards both left their posts and began to gather those who were requested. Just as two council members entered the chamber, Kayla's mother, who had been staying at the castle, walked in. "What is the meaning of this meeting?" The council member asked him. "I will inform everyone once everyone is here, but trust me. For now I must speak to her." Dravin grabbed the journal and walked over to Kayla's mother and opened the journal. They began talking in hushed tones and suddenly Dravin smiled. This time around, the Prince was seated where his father was with Dravin and his mate next to him. The king and elders were standing in the center of the room. "What is the meaning of this?" the king said. Dravin stood up and said, "I have called this meeting to order based on the evidence I have found." "And it could not wait till morning? It is the middle of the night, council member," the king said. "No it could not." "I am sure the information is of the utmost importance. Council member please tell us what you have found," Prince Levi said as he looked at his father. The king's face was now pale and he was fidgeting. Whatever the council member had found, had the king acting out of sorts. "As you all know, the council has been looking for proof of the king and elders' actions that were brought to light several weeks ago." Dravin held up the journal and everyone looked at it and as Dravin looked at the king he smiled. "This journal was found in the king's chambers. Your highness would you like to explain what is in the journal or should I?" The king said nothing and Dravin just looked at him. After several moments of silence, Dravin began to speak. "I found this journal in the king's chambers. I have spent the last several days reading it and how enlightening it has been. In this journal it not only talks about the human experiments that the king has been conducting, but the most interesting thing is that it talks about Kayla's mother and council member Brental and his child. First I would like to discuss council member Brental and his child." Dravin opened the journal and began to read. "It was the night of the full moon when my scouts found them. The traitors. My men and I met up with the scouts and we stormed into their home. They were staying in an abandoned human cabin in the woods. As we approached, we slowly made our way towards their dwelling, careful not to make a sound. Once outside, my men positioned themselves all around the cabin and we busted down the doors. My men brought Brental and the human women outside to me, along with a small child. Both of them were trying to fight their way out of my men's arms but they were no match for my special forces. The female no longer looked human, her hair was red and blue and her eyes were like those of a dragon. Slitted but black in color. Her scent smelled like a garden of flowers instead of the scent of garbage that humans carried. My men brought them to their knees and injected them with liquid to keep their beasts at bay. The women was sobbing and pleading to let them go and Brental he was silent. The child was screaming in the arms of my soldier who was trying to calm the tiny beast. For his crimes, Brental was sentenced to death and I cut his head off in front of his mate, who screamed in terror and then tried to get to her dead mate, but instead, I walked up to her and ripped her heart out. The look on her face was one of fear, but no one would ever defy my order. I then went over to the small child and grabbed it from my soldier. The baby looked like a tiny whelp and smelled of power. I ordered my men to burn the cabin and bodies and I took the child with me. I needed to see what the child was. I took the child back to the castle and had one of my most trusted servants to take of him. As the child grew, I watched him become more and more powerful and I feared that he would be more powerful than I. The child was about three when I decided to end his life, but when I went to go and kill him he brought me to my knees. He came running towards me when I entered his nursery and hugged me. He was so excited to show me his drawings and as I spent time with him he softened my heart. I read him a story and was about to kill him when he told me he loved me and at that moment I knew I could not kill him. Instead, I named him my son. Levi." Dravin put the journal down and everyone sat in silence. Kayla grabbed Levi's hand and the king looked at his son. "As you can see, the heir to the thrown is not the king's blood son but, in fact, the son of the late council member Brentals child. Prince Levi is still our prince," Dravin said. The room remained silent.
