Levi's Point of View
The council's meeting room was just starting to fill up when Dravin and I arrived. The council members sat around a large table that looked like a bulls eye with a line down the center of it.
"We will get to the bottom of this, my prince," Dravin said before walking to his seat.
I nodded and walked to the center of the room. By being in the center of the room, I could easily turn and see each council member. As I looked around, I saw my father sitting with the eldest of the council members and frowned. I know they are up to something, but what I don't know and today the truth will come out.
I watched as several more council members walked in and sat down. Suddenly, the elder sitting next to my father stood up.
"We have called this meeting to order," he said as everyone stopped talking and looked at him. Once everyone stopped talking, he began to talk again.
"Everyone has been briefed on why we are here, but just in case, you have forgotten we are here because the prince has decided he wants a human mate." Members began to whisper. "Silence," the elder said. Once everyone was quite again he began to talk once more. "As our law states, it is forbidden to take a human mate and if found guilty then the death penalty will be your sentence. Each member has seen an image of the human and knows the prince's intentions."
Before the elder could say anymore Dravin stood up and said, "Before we vote if the prince has committed a crime or not, I have some evidence I would like to present."
The council members began to murmur to one another and the elder looked at my father. I watched as my father nodded and then the council member said, "And what is this evidence you have, council member Dravin?"
Dravin stood up and said, "Yesterday I learned that the king has been experimenting on unborn human children just like many of you have learned."
"Yes, we are aware of what the king has done, council member," the elder said.
"With that information, I had the prince's mates, dna tested. If she was part of the experiment, then it would explain how she is the mate to the prince."
"And what did you learn?" My father said, cutting Dravin off.
"What I learned is that the prince's mate is not human. She is one hundred percent dragon."
My father stood up and said, "And how can that be? She has no dragon. You are lying."
"I have had the king's head doctor draw the female's blood several times and run it. I even stayed with him the second time to make sure he did not swap the blood or do anything to it. So, unless your calling your doctor a liar, your majesty."
"How did she need up with humans?" The elder asked as my father stared at Dravin like he was about to kill him.
Dravin began telling the council about the information he obtained from Kayla's mother and I watched as my father sat down and listened. Once Dravin was done talking, my father whispered into the elder's ear.
"I need to meet the mother. Bring her here Dravin. Until then, this meeting is on pause."
"Why do you need to see her?" I asked.
"To know who the girl's real mother is. I also want your mates DNA retested with another council member present. Council member Jared you will go with council member Dravin to retrieve the mother. I will be with the doctor along with Elder Macown to over see the DNA testing. Until then, everyone will be back in one hour's time."
Before I could say anything, people began to stand and talk. I watched as Dravin and council member Jared left the room as the two elders approached me.
"Prince. I need you to bring your mate to the medical ward now."
"Are we going to ignore the fact that pregnant humans have been experimented on?"
"For now, we are focusing on you and your mate. You have two options. One you get her and bring her to the medical ward or two we get her by force." Elder Jared said as he crossed his arms and looked at me with a pointed stare.
I looked at both men and sighed. "I will get her," then walked away.
Once in my chamber, I walked up to her and hugged her. "Everything okay?" she whispered.
"No."
"What is going on?"
"They are bringing your mother here and want to test your blood again."
She pulled away. "Why?"
"They need answers from your mother and they do not believe you are a dragon."
"So now what?"
"I am going to take you to the medical ward again. They will test your blood again and then I will meet back with them in a few hours." She clung to me like her life depended on it.
"I won't let anything happen to you."
"I know."
-Happy Friday everyone. Sorry for the lack of updates on this story. I have been busy with life, but hopefully everything will calm down now. I will be working on the next chapter tomorrow for next week.
