CHAPTER FOURTEEN MIRA It was nice to be in a real bed again, but when I woke up, I didn’t really feel rested. Or maybe rest wasn’t exactly the thing I was missing. This whole thing had just taken too much out of me. For a while, I thought I could make a difference. At least Farukan and his family were safe, but mostly it just seemed like everything I did resulted in someone else getting killed. I went downstairs and had breakfast with the others. They were talking, but I didn’t pay attention to what they were saying. I was a little envious of the smiles, but I didn’t really pay much attention to that either.
