Venstein's Destiny
Destiny… f**k destiny. I, Lainey Venstein will surpass f*****g destiny. I don’t care what Aiden says, a war isn’t coming. It hasn’t come in the past few centuries. The war that will probably come is World War 3 and the humans will take care of that just fine. Hitler was fun to mess with though. Some prophecy, making me lose my parents, my pack, wasting almost 1000 years of my life, freedom. f**k, damn destiny. I look out from the motel window, Aiden’s in the next room over snoring, and Vani is at the bar across the street. Cars are speeding by, without a care in the world. The sun slowly goes down, as the street lamps start to come on. I’m twenty-one in a few days, and I’m supposed to finally sense my… mate. My wolf senses have been on the edge lately. Maybe it was because my mate, is dead. After all, Shawn is gone. My heart heavies at the thought of him. The way he smelled like a fresh ocean breeze and strawberries. The way he lit up the room. His touch… It’s been almost a year with him gone. Damn, rouges. Damn Shawn for being so stupid and running in front of that vampire and me… My first and only… I feel my eyes starting to swell, I immediately force myself to push down all my feelings. I rub my eyes, and cool off with a ice cold shower. As I finish drying my hair, I hear Vani open the door and mutter things to herself. My vampire teeth pop out suddenly, my eyes turning red. I smell human blood. I haven’t drank blood in years, and now my thirst decides for blood, now. I use my vampire speed, and rush forward. Vani is already in motion, seductively already biting her way into action. Her teeth sucking blood out of a poor human. Her short dark brown hair with purple tips, soak in the blood that’s seeping out. She sees me eyeing her, and lets go of the man, blood dripping from his neck. “Go ahead. I’ve already had a few.” With Vani’s words, I’m already on the guy, slurping blood until he’s white. I close his wound with a lick, as he’s slowing getting out of Vani’s spell. “V, mind wipe him. Then get him out of here.” I say, as I walk away cleaning the blood from my mouth. I walk out the door, in need of fresh air. Springdale… I’ve had enough of it to last the rest of my life. I pull up my hood, covering my face. I can sense monster hunters near… As I continue down the sidewalk of the motel, I can hear someone that has been following me for a few minutes. I clench my fist, ready for a fight. I stop, turning around. No one. Suddenly a hand grabs me from behind, I drop down, then kicking him in the rib cage. He grunts, pulling back. He takes out a match and lights it, starting to chant. “May the demon inside of you, burn. Let god had mercy on this human soul.” He lisped. This hunter actually thinks there's a demon inside of me. Cute. “Honey, I am the demon.” I growl, I quickly shut down this exorcism and spelled his lips together. But I can hear his annoying thoughts still, “Witch! Witch!” He screams out. “I call on fire.” I spit out. Fire instantly burns in the space between my open palm. The hunter tries to run, but I throw the flame to him as he slowly crisped into ash, muffled screams filled the night. “I’m your worst nightmare.” I whisper, as some ash flows away into the wind. “You shouldn’t have done that.” Says a voice I know too well of, Aiden. I slowly turn to meet his gaze. His black hair combed back, and his black eyes piercing into my soul. He puts his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, obviously pissed off at me. “Aiden, relax. He was just some priest that sensed my demon side. I had to stop him. He could have gotten rid of my demon powers. And I kinda need that, ya’ know.” His face still remains serious and pissed. “As your wizard protector, I have to keep you safe. You can’t risk your life, or you’ll end up-” I cut him off. “Like Shawn?” I blurt out, not meaning to, instantly wishing I could take it back. Aiden stiffens. Shawn was his best friend, I can feel he blames me for his death, but he can’t do anything to jeopardize the prophecy and his destiny. Aiden never lets me read this thoughts or even mind-link to him, unless for emergency. “Just go inside alright. We are leaving early tomorrow for Oregon. Get some sleep.” I obey stomping my way to my room, annoyed at him. What a loser who hates any type of entertainment or fun. I carefully open the unlocked door, not making a sound. Vani is sound asleep on her bed, curled up in a ball, and drunk. She’s talking in her sleep, rambling about nothing. I climb into my bed, thinking about Shawn. I miss him. Only if I saved him, instead of the other way around. I brush away the thoughts, in need of some sleep. I nonchalantly fall asleep, as the odor of lavender, berries, and chocolate, lightly filled the air… “Lainey?! Wake up. Come on, snap outta it.” I groan then lethargically sit up in bed, finding Aiden and Vani staring and me with a strange look. I try to speak but all that comes out is a whine. Vani telepathically connects to me. “Lainey, your in your Lycan form.” I can’t believe it… “Lainey, you felt your mate. You whined for him in your sleep.” It can’t be, I scramble from bed, rolling over and onto my paws. I respond to Vani, “What do I do?! How do I get out of my wolf form? I’ve never connected with my wolf before. I thought you said it wasn’t likely I ever would?!” I can’t have a mate. If I did, who or what is he. Where is he? Vani looks to Aiden for help, I can only look to him with puppy dog eyes, praying for he has a answer. He ponders for a second in thought, then chants some words under his breath. My white fur slowly turns to skin, my paws turn into hands and feet. “What the hell was that?!” I scream, a little too loud. “I’m not twenty on yet! How am I sensing him now?” I shout frantically. “At least we know you have access to your wolf and it’s full powers. Thanks to your mate’s presence, he reconnected you and your wolf. Lainey, you are Lycan, werewolf rules don’t exactly appeal in the same way. But the main point is that you have Bella now, and we have a chance.” I haven’t connected to my wolf in the longest time… Not since I was ten, before the great attack. I remember I named her Bella after my supposed to be sister, but she died at birth. Vani smacks Aiden in the arm because of his comment. “Aiden means, you have a mate! Isn’t that great? After Shawn, you need a new man… or woman.” I shyly smirk at the thought but soon abandon it. “I don’t want a mate. He’d just end up dead. I bet you he’s weak. Plus he’s not apart the prophecy, I’m going to die in the end anyway, we all are. I can’t have a mate.” Vani’s face droops in response. Aiden clears his throat. “If that’s what you wish. But your wolf will start to get out of hand without him. So learn how to control it.” He gets up from my bed and leaves, after adding “You have 20 minutes to gather your stuff before we leave.” then he slams the door harshly. “Geez what’s his deal?” Vani says harshly. “Aiden Blackwell is one of the world’s greatest wonders. After losing his own mate over 800 years ago to the great Lycon extinction.” I say slowly for Vani to comprehend. “Poor Aiden, I didn’t know. At least he found his mate and she accepted him. Tyler rejected me in the worst way. He has no right to be acting like this.” Vani says, pouting. “Vani, he ran because I told him about you being my most important protector… You are my wolf and vampire protector. You’d be crushed if he got in the crossfire. As what happened with Shawn. Now I don’t have a Demon protector. I’m sorry, but I need you.” She turns away from me, clearly hurt. I could tell her wolf inside of her, lightly growling at me. As I finish to pack, I have a craving for some meat. First, blood for my vampire, second, meat for my wolf. What next a human sacrifice or eye of newt, for my witch side or demon side? Being a four species crossover is tiring me out. Vani is still scrambling to fit all her clothes into her suitcase. I could still feel the tension between us, but we’re cousins and basically sisters. She can’t hate me, especially her as my most important protector. “V, I’m going shopping for a bit. Want anything?” She looks up to me. “Do you want me to come with you? Aiden will get mad if I leave you alone.” I roll my eyes. She now decides to act like the responsible older sister. “Forget Aiden for a minute and live a little. I’ll be fine. I’m bringing my crystal mirror, relax.” I wave myself out the door with my keys in hand. As I climb into my black truck, I turn on the heater, before I freeze. Thoughts of my mate is at the back of my mind. I can hear my wolf calling for him. I try to keep Bella’s voice out of my mind. I drive a few blocks to the mini super market. Before I get out of the car I pull up my hood and pull out my hair to cover a good portion of my face. I’m wearing all black, making sure not to stand out. As I walk into the store, I rush to the meat section. I grab a few streaks and pork. As I pay I can feel my inner wolf trying to come out. I can’t tell if it’s the meat or something else. It’s the first time having to deal with my wolf side, in a very long time. I quickly run outside the store, turning the corner, breathing heavily. My eyes burning black. I attempt to calm my wolf. As I start to control myself, I hear my wolf “He’s here.” I gulp and clench my fists at the warning. “Mate.” I bring my eyes to the deep unknown voice. Dropping my meat at surprise. His muscular build pops out, trying to act dominate. His messy dirty blonde hair holds up, while his hazel eyes puts me in a trance. “I’m sorry I’m not your ‘mate’. Leave me alone.” He smells of werewolf. I turn away from him, increasing my speed to the car. He grabs my arm and jolts me back. “You shall not reject me, for I am your mate. And you, you will be my Luna.” I can feel his heart beating, very fast. So he’s a Alpha… I can’t trust him. Even if he’s supposed to be my mate. God, I love the way my body feels against his firm chest. I break his grasp and try to fight back, but my inner wolf is trying to take over. Bella is purring “Mate, mate, mate.” All I can get to escape my mouth is, “L-let me go, your hurting me.” I try to resist. I quickly grab my mirror crystal and send a ‘SOS’ message to Aiden and Vani with a single touch to the stone, in my pocket… As I sent the message, he grabs my wrists and lifts me up above his broad shoulders, carrying me away. I’m losing control, my wolf is taking over. His touch, it calms me, I almost just want to stay here. I snap out of it, remembering my duty to my coven. “Who the f**k are you?! Let me go! You’re kidnapping me!” I growl. He cautiously loosens his grip a little bit. “Jonah Stravin, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack. And you are my Luna.” he says boldly. “Now be a good little kitten and keep your voice down. There’s been a few rogue sightings nearby. Plus a witch, demon sighting. I’m guessing that's one of your friends scent on you?” I tense up. He smells through my human scent shield, but just barely, making it seem as if I was just around them. That’s impossible, what is he?
