Lucy POV

I’m dancing and having a lot of fun with my new friends, Trish is awesome and she introduced me to everyone. The cute cook that was in the kitchen when I was there this morning showed up about fifteen minutes ago and just went to get us drinks. I had had quite a few already but our tolerance as wolves was higher, as an Omega mine wasn’t as high as some of the higher ranked wolves, and I had never had a drink before but I didn’t feel too awful yet. I was on my fourth drink when it hit me, and I finally started to feel the effects of the alcohol coursing through my blood. Dan, the cook, pulled me into him and I stumbled a bit in these heels that Trish had given me before I fell into his chest.

“You okay there cutie?”

“Yeah, I’m fine thanks Dan. I think I have to use the restroom really quickly though okay? I’ll be right back.”

“Sure thing, don’t take too long,” he says with a wink.

I just nod and head off towards the back of a hallway I saw when we came in that I’m pretty sure had a bathroom down there. I keep stumbling and almost fall a couple times, I guess alcohol and heels don’t mix . Or alcohol and me because I’m starting to feel really, really crappy. I’m just about to put my hand on the door when someone comes up from behind me and pulls me back into another room right before everything goes black.

Maddox POV

“Divert your f.ucking eyes,” I growl out at Chad who turns to give me a weird look.

“What the hell man, I’m just looking at the new Omega. Why do you care?”

“Just do what I tell you,” I turn at snarl at him. He gives me a confused look before his eyes widen in disbelief.

“Maddox, is that, is she your mate?”

“Don’t be ridiculous, I have a mate we’re supposed to have a mating ceremony in a week remember?”

“A mating ceremony that’s been pushed off. Don’t play games with me we’ve known each other our whole lives and I’ve never heard that level of possession in your voice before. So be straight with me, is that your mate?”

“No,” I almost yell as Leo whines, my Alpha Lycan actually whines in my head at my dismissal of Lucy.

“Alright fine, then you won’t mind if I go down there and ask her to dance, will you?”

“No,” I say gritting my teeth as Leo tries to break free and attack his Beta.

“Alright, oop, actually it looks like someone beat me to it.” He nods over my shoulder as I spin around and see some male, who I think is one of our cooks, pulling a stumbling Lucy into him to dance and I’m f.ucking done watching this disgusting display. I leave the VIP area and head down to the dance floor. This bar isn’t a wolf bar, it’s actually filled mostly by humans so it takes me forever to get down to where I saw Lucy because I can’t exactly plow my way through everyone here without bringing attention to myself, and potentially hurting a human.

I get to where the group of Omegas were five minutes after I saw Lucy stumbling into that prick of a cook, with Chad hot on my heels. I don’t see her, and I can’t smell her. Our bond isn’t strong yet, we aren’t mated and we haven’t spent any time growing the bond. Generally, when a Lycan or wolf meets their mate the bond will grow as their relationship does, even before they mate and mark each other. I haven’t given Lucy that kind of attention so our bond is weak and right now I’m kicking myself because I have no idea where she is but it feels like Leo is pacing in my mind and I don’t like that. I spot one of the Omegas from the kitchen and head over to her.

“Trish right?” I ask, as she looks up at me with wide, surprised eyes.

“Oh my goodness, sir, what are you doing here?”

“Trying to enjoy my night, now can you tell me where Lucy went?”

“Oh, um I think she just went to the bathroom. But you don’t have to worry about her, Dan went to check on her.”

As soon as she says Dan I turn and look for the bathroom sign. Chad hits my back pointing to a spot at the back of the club that looks like a hallway but I catch a bathroom sign on the wall and head that way. I run into the women’s room and scare the crap out of a bunch of women while saying Lucy’s name and looking in each stall for her. But she’s not here, I walk back out and catch wolf scents I nod at Chad and he follows me down the hall a little further. There’s another door there but it’s painted black so it almost blends in with the hallway, I kick the door open and my blood boils as Leo pushes forward.

Lucy is lying on a couch in the room her head lolled to the side and her eyes shut, her arm is hanging off the couch, her dress has been pushed up, and her underwear is discarded on the floor. She looks like she’s barely breathing. She’s clearly unconscious and Dan is lying on top of her, his hand gripping her breast while he fumbles with the button on his pants. I rush him as he looks up at the sound of my approach and rip him off of her. I throw him across the room and immediately attack. He’s a useless lump underneath my fists as I continue beating the hell out of him until he’s barely recognizable. That’s when Chad comes up behind me and grabs my arms.

“Maddox, Leo, you need to calm down.”

“Calm down,” Leo growls out, “this pathetic excuse for a wolf was going to r.ape my mate.”

“I know, I get that I do but you need to bring him in. We need to find out what he gave her, she’s still unconscious.”

“No she’ll do a blood test we don’t need him.”

“You can’t just kill a pack member. Trust me I’d like to kill him too, I saw what he was doing when we came in here and I’m disgusted. But you have to think like a King, Leo you have to let Maddox come back and deal with this situation properly okay? I saw a few of our warriors out there and they were still sober. I just linked them to come back and take him to the palace, let them do their job and we’ll handle him once we get her taken care of.”

I felt Leo retreat finally, even though I’m still pissed I’m a little more in control and I turn back to Lucy to get her covered up so no one else sees her like that. S.hit she’s still out, “what do you think he gave her? A roofie wouldn’t have knocked her on her ass like this right?”

“It shouldn’t, it shouldn’t affect any wolf like this. He could have given it to her with something else. You don’t think he would have given her a dose of wolfsbane with it do you?”

“That’s exactly what I’m thinking, and he’s a f.ucking dead man.” Before I can go back to beating the living daylights out of him our warriors come in and cart him off. I bend down to pick Lucy up and ask Chad have our driver meet us out back. This isn’t a wolf establishment but the owner is a wolf and I know he won’t mind us using that exit, especially in this case.

“Cars out back, and Maddox, just so you know your secret is safe with me.”

“I figured it would be but thanks.” We get in the car and Lucy is still out, I keep my fingers on her pulse so that I can make sure it doesn’t get any lower than it is now. Once we get back to the palace I get out to take her right to the hospital wing when Kara descends, the very last thing I need right now.

“What the hell is going on here?” She yells, “is this the real reason you brought this little s.lut here and want to postpone our ceremony?”

“Kara,” I growl at her, “move now.”

“No, I want to know the truth where the f***k have you been? Out with her?”

“Kara,” I snap, “first of all bringing her here was your idea, not mine. Now get out of my way.” I go to move around her as she still stands there and when she opens her mouth to argue more I’m about to lose it. Thankfully Chad steps in for me.

“Kara, come on you know Maddox it wasn’t like that. We didn’t go out with her, we went out to the club and a few of the Omegas were there too, we saw them from VIP. We noticed Lucy stumbling down a back hallway and one of our cooks following her. We went to check on them after a few minutes and found her passed out unconscious and him trying to r.ape her while she lay there passed out. He’ll be escorted back by our warriors and taken to the dungeon. Maddox saved this girls life and he’s just trying to get her to the hospital because we don’t know what he did to make her pass out and stay passed out.”

“Seriously?”

“Kara, do you see that’s she’s unconscious in my arms, I don’t have time for this.”

“Oh Goddess of course, you have to get her to the doctor right away. She’s kind of our responsibility, thank the Moon Goddess you were both there.”

I finally get away and take Lucy directly to the on-call doctor. He gets her in a bed and hooks her up to some machines, he also draws blood and gets an IV going to flush out her system. I’m sitting there waiting for him to come back and tell me what’s going on and I can’t stop thinking about what would have happened if I hadn’t gotten there on time tonight. My thoughts are going a mile a minute and I’m suddenly regretting everything that has happened between us so far.
