Shulamite looked into Theo's eyes and saw nothing but contempt and disgust. She couldn't say why he was staring at her that way, but this two emotions were something that she hates to see in his eyes. It peeves her so much.
She couldn't see the sincerity in the man's voice and that's why she choose not to answer his questions.
"Who exactly are you?" Theo asked, looking intently into Shulamites eyes that was studying him. "Why do you seem to mysterious?"
He couldn't believe that he has been dating someone who has been leading a double lifestyle. If she is not doing bad thing to get money, she would have answered his question long ago.
Theo was so angry with what Shulamite had done before him that he failed to think in a rational way, after all, he doesn't know all that well.
