As soon as the elderly man was snoring behind the drawn bed curtains, Gregory went to the clothes press and selected a long, hooded cloak the old master had used for traveling in his younger days. It would be the perfect disguise to hide Jehan’s face and get him through the streets and to the harbor in case there were any eagle-eyed watchmen abroad. Gregory took the garment to his room under the rafters that he shared with another serving boy, and draped it over his clothes chest, rather than attempting to hide it away.
