Dear Uncle Peter,
Hi. It was good to read your letter and to hear all your news. I have some news of my own. My parole hearing is going to be this year. In three weeks, to be exact. The governor has said it’s pretty much a given it’ll be granted. He actually said I have one of the cleanest records of any inmate he has seen. Too bloody right. It’s not easy to keep out of trouble in here. Not because I want to get into trouble, but because there’s so much pressure to do the wrong thing. And so much provocation. That’s a big word, isn’t it? It seems blokes like Donohue and Flanders and Smith don’t want to be the only ones breaking the rules. They want everyone to be in on it with them so they’ve got someone to blame or someone to go down with. I think I’ve said it before,
