***Isabelle*** “From the test results I'm seeing here, you are two weeks pregnant. Congratulations Mrs Lane.” The Doctor said, smiling. I mirrored his expression, grinning from ear to ear as I unconsciously rubbed on my flat belly. Everything is falling perfectly in place,as it should. I squeaked excitedly. I couldn't wait to surprise Darren with the news of my pregnancy. Darren is the Beta of our pack, White Fang pack, and my mate. We had found out about a year ago that we were mates, and had been inseparable ever since. Darren buys me gifts and spoils me like a queen, he would take me out on romantic dinner dates and shower me with peppery kisses. He is literally the kind of mate every girl would dream off. But he is mine. Walking out of the hospital with graceful steps, everyone could see the unmasked joy in my face. I entered my car and drove straight for the palace. As I headed to the room I shared with Darren, I was oblivious to weird stares from the palace staff as I passed by them. But when I opened the door of our room and was met with a shocking scene. My mate, Darren, stood at the edge of our bed, french kissing a female while another knelt on the bed and gave him a blow job. They were so into the act that they didn't even notice my presence. My heart dropped to my chest as I analyzed the scene before me. “What the hell is going on here!” I screamed, my initial reason for coming was already out the window. The two female w****s finally realized someone was in the room with them, and they tried scrambling out of the room. Darren held them back, indifferent to what I was saying. “Darren….what is going on here?” I asked. I couldn't believe my eyes. “What does it look like? Or are you now so dumb that you can't see? We are having a good time and you are ruining it.” Darren rudely said to me. “Now if you don't mind, I'll like to continue from where I stopped,” he said as he fondled one of the girl's breasts, and she giggled. The sight was too horrisome for me to bear. Darren, my mate, the love of my life, is cheating on me. “But Darren, Our mating ceremony is in a few days! We would finally be together like you wanted” I said, already on the verge of crying. Darren saw the tears cascading down my face but was indifferent to any of it. The Darren I knew never wanted to see me sad, he always wanted me to be happy, what happened to him? “Look, Isabelle,” Darren started “ It's a shame you had to find out this way, but I never loved you. I was only using you to get to the throne of White Fang, alright? I can never settle for a mate as naive as you. And worse, you can't satisfy me in bed” He said shamelessly, and the w****s giggled. He was embarrassing me in the presence of these w****s, in the presence of the whole staff and he knew it. I instinctively wrapped my arms around my stomach to protect my baby. I stared at him in utter shock. Darren has never laid a hand on me until now. “You crazy b***h! What part of ‘i never loved you' do you not understand? Stay the hell away from me and leave me alone” Darren screamed at me and made to leave the room. “Darren, I'm pregnant.” I sobbed uncontrollably. My heart felt like it was being jammed by a million glass shards all at once. “What?” Darren turned to me. “You're pregnant?” “Yes, I'm pregnant for you, Darren. We are going to have a baby. If you leave now, this baby isn't yours. And the throne of White Fang won't be yours too” I tried one last time to make Darren come back to his senses. “I couldn't care less about your bastard baby, it can go to hell for all I care.” Darren said “and as for the throne, it's already mine, and there's nothing you can do about it” Darren said mischievously and left the room. I sat on the ground dazed while the palace staff watched me, pity evident on their faces. I couldn't take their glaring stares anymore and I ran out of the palace, driving to anywhere my mind took me. I drove to the side of a road leading into the forest and suddenly parked. Screaming out, I vented out all my anger and sobbed uncontrollably. My life, which was all just roses and sunshine a few minutes ago, is 50 minutes in the mud. I have been rejected, and in the worst way possible. My phone started ringing, and I picked it, slightly shaken from crying a lot. It was my sister, Sophie. “Oh Isabelle!” The other end said. “I heard what had happened, I'm so sorry!” She said, and I sobbed all over again. It's just really hard to take in at once. “I'm sure Darren doesn't mean anything he said. Information reaching me now is that he got himself drunk earlier, hence his behavior back at the palace. Please go and reconcile with him, he is sober and apologetic now” Sophie said. “No, I can't go back to him,” I said. “He might have been drunk or anything, but he definitely was in his right mind when he said all those nasty things. And he cheated, Sophie!” My voice cracked a bit “He cheated on me on our very own bed. I can't go back to him now. I'm calling off the mating ceremony.” I said, my mind made up. “What? No-no… Don't do that Isa…” “I can and I will. He clearly rejected me, and humiliated me in the presence of all those staff. There's no turning back now” I said. Even though I loved Darren with everything in me, I needed to preserve my dignity too. I've gone through all the possible things I could have done that'll make him do this to me, but there's nothing. We were good even before I left the hospital. What could have possibly made him reject and humiliate me so much? Sophie went silent for a while “Okay, Isabelle. I understand you. But…where are you now?” She asked “My car is parked by the side of the road near the woods, a few hundred meters away from the castle” I said, sniffing. “Okay, Isabelle. I get that you don't want to marry Darren anymore, okay? But you have to come to the palace, let's address this issue amicably. Please” Sophie said soothingly. “Okay” I mumbled and the line went dead. I stared at my blue eyes from the back view mirror, they had gotten so puffy from crying. I quickly adjusted and cleaned my face and drove round, heading back to the castle, my heart still hurting as I recalled what had happened. As I crossed a T-junction, I was so lost in thought that I hadn't noticed a black car coming in full speed from the other side of the road. I instinctively stepped on the brake but it was too late as the car hit mine and It tumbled, falling over a large cliff nearby. And darkness swallowed me. “Wake up, child”.
