I was sleeping on the couch with Grayson last night, but when I woke up, I was in my new room on my comfy new bed, with Grayson nowhere near the apartment. Rosalia left a note saying she went to school, so it was just big ol’ Winston and me. I decided to take him for a walk.
I pick up an exciting book of Rosalia’s and let Winston drag me along while I held his leash. I don’t know if Grayson reads this or if Rosalia goes behind his back, but it feels like I’m reading fifty shades of grey, and Rosalia had just recommended this to me.
Anyway, as I was saying, the dog was leading, and it was leading me straight to Kiki and Grayson’s house.
“Oh my! Is that Winnie the pooh?” I notice that voice from anywhere.
“Kiki?” I lift my head from the book.
“Hi!” She waves back and then looks at my stomach and stops smiling.
My heart jumps.
“You’re- You’re pregnant?” Kiki smiles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. I can see jealousy seeping through her veins.
“Yea, um, I had a one-night stand 13 weeks ago after I left the party, and I got pregnant.”
Kiki scoffs. “Wow, where is he?”
I shrug. “Working.”
Kiki nods and pets Winston. “He looks like Rosalia’s dog.”
I wave her off. “Rosalia? What? No! This is Johnny’s dog.”
“Johnny?” Grayson comes out of the house. He’s angry, but he doesn’t show it.
“Um, yea, Johnny, my one-night stand, that got me pregnant.”
I’m lying through my teeth, and it hurts because Grayson knows everything and Kiki believes everything I say. Grayson gets angrier with every word I say.
“I’m happy for you, mother, at twenty-three,” Grayson’s eyes go wide at my age. “Hey, I know you’re still in college, so if you need a babysitter, I’m here.” Kiki winks and puts a hand around Grayson’s waist.
I quickly made an excuse to get out of there; Grayson was going to kill me.
“Thanks, um, the doctor said I shouldn’t have too much sun, so I’m- I’m going.”
I wave and speed walk back to the apartment, only to find Grayson had made it there before me. “Why the hell were you at my house?” I look at Winston, the dog.
“I was reading, so Winston was leading me and-,”
“That makes no f*****g sense. How do you let a dog lead you?”
“I was reading-,”
“Stay away from the house.” Grayson walks out, slamming the door.
I stick the middle finger at Winston, the dog, and change. I’m going to my old apartment to get my car, and I have to walk 30 minutes, but that’s fine.
I get there, sweaty and tired and crawling to the door. I knock on the door, never-ending until Talon opens the door.
“Winston!” She hugs me, and Nessira walks out and hugs me too. “We are just about to go decorate the venue for the weddings in four weeks, but I can’t wait to decorate!” Talon squeals. “Who are you- ah, I thought you were dead.” Zaro smiles at me, and I roll my eyes.
“Nope, I’m alive, and I’ll come help.”
“Kiki and Grayson are coming too.”
s**t.
I can’t turn back now. I grab my car keys and ride with Talon and the others.
“I just got a text from Kiki.”
Talon looks at her phone. Please let it be they can’t come. “Nessie’s joining.” f**k no. Everyone’s like, ok, Nessie’s cool, but not me. I’m devastated. It’s like God, and my mother joined up to punish me because Grayson, Kiki, and Nessie got there before us. Oh, Grayson is furious. I feel it in his gaze, no, not gaze, his glare.
Nessie smiles at me. “I booked some classes for you, basically what you shouldn’t do if you’re pregnant.” She walks in with Talon and the others. Great. I sneer at her as she vanishes into the building.
Kiki smiles at me. “So, what do you think the gender is?”
I shrug softly, Grayson’s still glaring at me. “I’ll see the gender next week, and I don’t care; I have names picked out for each gender.”
Grayson scoffs. “You’re not going to let Johnny have a say in the names?”
I smirk. “Johnny can have the middle and last name. As for the first name, that’s mine.”
Kiki giggles. “I let Grayson choose Rosalia’s name.”
Of course, that’s why.
I nod. “Rosalia has such an old name; it’s pretty, but a lot of people have that name, and it’s not unique.”
Grayson grits his teeth as I walk in with Kiki.
Talon’s theme is ocean blue and white, so the decor was tough to get. I had to hang the curtains or whatever on the walls and I’m a short person, so when I reached them but couldn’t get it, I put my hand on my stomach and Grayson took the curtains away from me and told me to wipe the tables instead.
“I got it.” Grayson says, taking the curtains so I don’t complain, and I wipe the tables.
“It’s his baby, isn’t it, you slut!” Nessie hisses in my ear.
I step back and glare at her. “No, it’s not-,”
“Grayson wouldn’t do that. He wouldn’t do something so ignorant to his wife!” She whispers.
“What do you mean?! Grayson’s not-,”
“Everyone saw you hold your stomach, but Grayson was the only one concerned. Usually, he would never help a pregnant woman, so he wouldn’t hurt Kiki’s feelings!” Nessie crosses her arms.
“Grayson’s a nice person, what can-?”
“No, he’s not.” This b***h keeps cutting me off.
Nessie exhales. “For his sake, I won’t tell Kiki, but you better stay away from their marriage. If not, Kiki’s always wanted another child, bonus if it’s a boy.” Nessie smiles evilly before walking away.
Nessie is a dumb b***h if she thinks I’m letting Kiki raise my child.
Is that why Kiki barely acknowledges her own daughter? Because she’s not a boy?! The sexism in this place is immaculate. I hope that’s not the case, and maybe Kiki is a busy person. We set the tables and chairs, placed flowers and other s**t I know not of the name.
“Talon, where’s Ken?” Nessira asks.
“I didn’t tell him. If I did, we wouldn’t be here until two weeks from now.” We all groan, well, except for Grayson and Nessie.
He’s busy staring at me, and Nessie’s busy staring at Grayson.
“Ok, so you guys are staying here?” I ask.
“Win-bae, you can’t go anywhere if you drove with us.” Nessira had to say my embarrassing nickname in front of them, ‘The Taylor siblings’ or whatever.
Grayson furrows his brows but doesn’t say anything. “Zaro could drive me back so I can get my car, and he’ll come back.”
Zaro pursues his lips. “Why are you always calling my name b***h?”
I hook my arm around him. “Mom would be so happy to see her baby boy!” I threaten.
Every time Mom meets Zaro, she kisses him and gives him a unique or should I dare say, ugly haircut.
“Ok, let’s go.” Zaro groans as I pull him into Talon’s car.
I wave from the vehicle goodbye and head off. Zaro drops me off, and I get in my car and drive to the apartment.
“Hi, Rosalia.” I say tiredly.
“Hi! I had a fabulous day at school because of you!”
“Me? What did I do?”
Rosalia giggles. “You fixed my hair, and nobody had anything bad to say. I’m also popular now!”
I smile. “Don’t trust those popular hoes, Rosalia, but other than that, I’m happy for you, and you deserve it.”
Rosalia hugs me. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I’m going to sleep now.” Rosalia nods and jumps on the couch and facetimes her new friends.
I was getting to the good part of a dream when Grayson wakes me up.
“Grayson?” I shake off my sleepiness and sit up.
“What were you and Nessie talking about?”
Oh, he wants to know about that.
“Nothing, she was just bratty about me playing volleyball a week ago.”
Grayson raises an eyebrow. “You’re lying because she knows it’s mine.”
Oh s**t, he caught me, but he doesn’t look mad.
“Don’t call the baby it!” I try to change the subject, but Grayson smiles.
“What was that about Rosalia’s name? You don’t like that I chose it?”
I groan. “I’m sorry ok, if I had already agreed to come before they said you and Kiki were coming, and as I said, I was caught up in my book and didn’t see where Winston number two was leading me.”
Grayson chuckles. “Winston number two,” he mumbles. Grayson sits next to me. “Just be careful, and thank you for fixing Rosa’s hair.”
Grayson looks so fine right now.
“You should keep your hair messy; It’s cute on you.”
I touch Grayson’s hair, but he takes my hand down and looks straight into my eyes.
“Winston.” He whispers.
I can’t take it, and we’re so close, so I… I kiss him, and Grayson doesn’t pull away. Instead, he pulls me onto his lap, kissing me back.
Wow, he’s good.
Grayson runs his hand through my hair, pulling me closer.
Just when we were about to start going further, Rosalia comes in.
“Winston I-,” She gasps as Grayson and I are still entangled in each other.
“I’m sorry, I’ll come back-,”
“No,” Grayson pushes me away and walks over to the door.
“You do whatever you want.”
Grayson walks out.
