Chapter Twenty Five

It had been a few days since Elle had been home, and it seemed strange to return on Friday morning. Everything was as they had left it, not a thing out of place and no signs of any further intrusions. There was a chill about the place that unnerved her though - she wasn't sure if it was her mind paying tricks on her, or merely her vivid imagination, but Elle felt like she was being watched. Gathering a bag full of clothes and their essentials, she moved through the house as quickly as she could manage, checking over her shoulder every few seconds. Silence rang through the rooms, ominous in itself as she willed her body to move faster yet. It didn't take long for her to pack everything they needed, and when she reached the front door she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. A
