Chapter 17

Nicklaus shook his head at her, and grabbed her by the chin, he stared deep in her eyes and whispered

"Stop the tears" but his actions only earned more tears from her. Letting go of her, he bent down and picked up the pearls that fell, putting them in his pocket.

Tiana, in fear, coward away from him. Her heart beat loudly in her chest as her mind screamed at her to run. Her blue eyes were fixed at the door, as she tried planning an escape root.

"It wouldn't work, my dear" she heard him tell her and she moved back even further.

Could he hear her thoughts? Is he a special type of vampire that could not be killed by a wooden stick, and can hear human thoughts? But the book never mentioned anything about a vampire that could hear a person's thought or can't be killed by wood. The people the book mentioned that can't be killed by wood, are the first generation of vampires. Could he be an original?

Her big blue eyes stared at him in realization.

Standing up Nicklaus said to the girl

"Time to head out, mm? Darling, what's your name?" his hand was stretched, waiting for her to take it.

Tiana didn't move or answer his question. She just started at him, remembering the things the book said about him and his family.

They are so cruel, she said in her heart.

Nicklaus got vexed at the girl, and grabbed her arm. She suddenly started yelling

"Please let go! Please let go of my arm! Please!"

"Hush up, girl" he glared and suddenly bent down, and carried her on his shoulder. Tiana kicked and scream, trying to break free, but he was much more stronger than her. With her on his shoulders, he left the room and went to the front of the castle, where a carriage was, with a coachman in front, waiting for them. Nicklaus shoved Tiana inside the carriage, and after giving instruction to the coachman, he joined her.

"What do you want from me? Who are you?" she questioned him loudly.

"I'll only answer your questions, if you keep shut" he told her, but Tiana didn't listen.

"Are you an original?" she asked again, moving towards the far end of the carriage.

"Now, why will you ask me that?" he moved close to her.

"I-I. What are you?" she couldn't find the right answer, so she asked again.

Nicklaus chuckled, and sat next to her, she stood up, trying to go to the seat opposite them, but he grabbed her and pinned her down.

"We are not in the water, fish, you can't be quick" he told her.

Tiana bit her lips in frustration and sat still. She didn't ask him anymore further questions, but he continued.

"So, fish. What do they call you?" he stared deep in her eyes. Tiana looked away from him, before answered,

"C-Christiana"

A bright smile appeared on Nicklaus's lips, and he bent over to her ear

"Dear, Tia. Why did you kill me yesterday?"

His question broke out a cold sweat from Tiana and she started fidgeting. Fear, once again, gripped her heart, as she avoided his gaze. His face looked like he was joking around with her, but his eyes says other wise. He suddenly grabbed her by the chin, and forced her to look at him.

"Answer me, little fish. What drove you to take a stick and drive it through my heart?" his grip on her chin became tighter and tears threatened to fall from Tiana's eyes.

She didn't know what to say. She didn't know what to do. Her heart banged against her chest, like it's trying to escape. Her mouth opened to answer, but no words came out.

"Well, a fighter, now, aren't we?" she heard him say to her, and she gulped down hard. She was doomed. She closed her eyes, and try to brace herself for what she thinks might occur.

Nicklaus stared at the girl in front of him. His eyes focused on her neck area. He listened closely as her pulse moved. He narrowed his eyes at her vein and quietly listen to the blood rushing to her face. Her dark skinned turned to peaches and he could only think of one thing.

Bite. Bite. Bite, it rung in his heart, like a bell.

His fangs suddenly grew and his eyes turned dark red. Tiana tears finally fell when she took notice of this and she screamed

"Please don't kill me!"

Her scream sounded like a wail and her head suddenly snapped back and her eyes grew bright blue. Fangs grew from her teeth and she began to shake uncontrollably.

Her loud wail seemed to have broken Nicklaus gaze and he stared at her in awe. He shook her a little, trying to wake her up, but it didn't work.

He frowned a bit and shook her again, this time violently, but she didn't snap. For some reason, he was filled with worry, and he yelled at the coachman

"Take us to the nearest lake"

"Ay, Sire" he heard the coachman's response and the carriage started moving fast.

"Tia? Tia?" he called out her name but she didn't move.

The carriage suddenly halted, and the coachman informed him

"Sire, I've found one"

Nicklaus didn't wait for the coachman to get the door, kicked it open. He carried her and stepped out. The lake the coachman found was in the middle of the forest, which Nicklaus didn't mind.

The snow fell lightly on the ground, and Nicklaus didn't seem to mind the cold. He rushed her towards the lake and sat at the edge. He took off her shoes and gently placed her inside the cold water of the lake.

Immediately, she wailed loudly, causing Nicklaus to hold his head. Her legs started to turn joined together, as scales pushed out of her skin. Her hands drew sharp nails, that she used to tear out the dress she wore. More golden blue scales emerged on her skin, and by the side of her face. Nicklaus watched all of this in awe.

Her body continued to shake. A voice that sounded like a thousand, suddenly began to speak from her mouth

"The end is coming! The end is near! The end is coming! The end is near!"

The voice spoke loudly, and her body shook more violently, and she screamed.

All of a sudden, she stopped. And her fangs and long nails disappeared. The scales started to disappear from her skin and her eyes turned back to normal and she fainted.

Confused Nicklaus, saw the water was cold and immediately drew her out. He rushed her into the carriage and covered her with his coat.

"Back to the castle" he ordered the coachman and they left the lake.
