Best Friends : Banter

Shane and Ashley were still in some serious conversation when suddenly, Drake came and greeted the two. "Hello, ladies." Drake greeted the two. The two were taken aback by Drake's unexpected appearance and had no idea how to respond to him. " Hi, Drake. " Shane cautiously greeted Drake back. " What was this serious conversation all about? " Drake asked the two. " Serious? Who says we're having some serious conversation here? " Ashley pretentiously asked Drake " Ash, nobody needs to tell me that you two are having some serious talk here, because it actually shows on your face the level of seriousness about your topic. So, tell me, what's that about? " Drake intriguingly asked the two. Ashley was feeling a little bit hesitant about telling Drake the topic she and Shane had had before he came. She came up with an idea to change the topic and opted to nag Drake for being late to their meet up. "Hey, what took you so long? Do you seriously intend to make these two pretty ladies here wait for you that long? To think that it's my birthday today, Drake? " Ashley nags Drake. Dumbfounded by Ashley's sudden and unexpected reaction, Drake looks at Shane as if he's asking for help. But Shane shook her head as she declared to Drake that there wasn't much she could do. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you wait that long. Unfortunately, I got myself involved in a minor accident on my way here. Is that a good enough reason, an acceptable one, for these two pretty ladies here to wait for me that long? " Drake explained to Shane and Ashley the reason why he was late. "What!?" Ashley and Shane shockingly asked Drake at the same time. Shane worriedly checked on Drake's body for some wounds or bruises. But Drake tried to stop her. " Enough, Shane. I'm okay. I'm totally okay. Like I've said, it was just a minor accident. " Drake reassured the two. "Are you sure?" Ashley unconvincingly asked Drake. "Yup, totally and completely okay! " Drake stood in front of Ashley and Shane, turned around, and showed the two his completely fine body. He continues, " I didn't know that you could actually be that so concerned about me." Drake told Ashley. "Oh well, on the contrary, I am more concerned about the other party involved in that minor accident you said you've had. I hope they're okay. " teasingly, said Ashley. " Seriously? Are you my best friend or what? " Drake disgustedly asked Ashley. Then Shane and Ashley laugh hard at Drake's reaction. "By the way," Ashley continues, while giving her hand to Drake as if she's asking for something from him. "What was that for? What was that supposed to mean?" Drake cluelessly asked Ashley. Ashley looked at Drake with stern eyes. "Come on, my gift? Your present to me? Where was it? " She asked Drake. "Oh, that. Why are you asking that of me now? Am I no longer invited to your party tonight? " Drake asked. "Duh! Of course, you're still invited. But, since Shane already gave her present to me now, might as well give yours too, "Ashley explicitly suggests to Drake as she shows Drake the tickets she got from Shane. "Can you please tell me that the reason why we have to meet here this late morning, despite the fact that we'll be seeing each other later tonight for your party, is not because you want to have our gifts before your party tonight? If that's correct, well then, I'm sorry because I don't have it with me now. " Drake said. "Hey, why do you have to make it sound like I'm a materialistic friend, choosing gifts over some quality time with my two best friends here? " Ashley replied to Drake. "I didn't say anything like that. And I won't dare. Those are purely subjective analysis of yours." Drake explained it to Ashley. " Hey, Shane. Didn't you also get the same message I got when Drake said what he said? Am I right in thinking that he's saying I'm choosing material things or gifts over you two, right? Ashley complained to Shane. Drake and Shane looked at each other as if they were conspiring to piss off Ashley a little more. " Oh well, what do you think, Drake? Is Ashley really that kind of friend to us? " Shane conspired with Drake. " Seriously, Shane? " Ashley asked Shane disappointedly. Shane continues, "But you know what? Now that I'm thinking about it, there's actually this specific scenario when I asked Ash to accompany me to buy books for our group project, but she rejected me and said she would go shopping with her mom. " Shane narrated. " Hey, that's not exactly what I said to you. I told you that mom was asking me to help her choose the dress she would wear to their reunion ball. And duh! You're not actually going to buy books for our group project then, because what you actually wanted to do that day was to. " Ashley didn't get the chance to continue on with what she was saying because Shane's hand was already on her mouth, covering it. " Slow down, Ash. There's just some information you know you can't spill just like that. " Shane mumbled to Ashley. She continues, " Come on, Drake, do you seriously think Ash can actually do that to us? Ash is the kindest and the most selfless person ever to live in this entire universe, and we're lucky enough to have her as our friend. She definitely can't do that to us. " Shane praised Ashley to Drake. " Looks like somebody is double-crossing us here, Ash. Why don't we help her decide which side she'll choose? " Drake said. " I was actually thinking the same thing, Drake. " Ashley replied to Drake. Then they both fixed their gaze on Shane. " Hey, who's double-crossing here? I'm not! And I don't do double-cross things, especially with my best friends. What I'm only trying to do here is point out both your sides, okay? What's double cross with that? Shane defended herself. Friendship like theirs, with a little bit of seriousness here and there, but with tons of sarcasm and badinage everywhere, must have had such a strong foundation.
