Best Friends: Confidante

1095 Words
After having their breakfast, they all proceed to their scheduled plans for the day. Lucy and Albert checked on the event area to see how the preparations for tonight's Ashley's birthday celebration were going. Kenneth went out to pick up his gift for Ashley, which he ordered weeks ago, and had a quick lunch meeting with some of the potential investors in their bar, as they are aiming for expansion. And Ashley planned on meeting her two best friends in the cafeteria near their school, which is their favorite hangout place as well. " Hi, Ash. Happy Birthday! " Shane fondly greeted her best friend. "Thanks, Shane." Ashley lovingly replied to her best friend. " Is it just me? Or does something really seem different about you? You kind of look special today. Is it because it's your day? Is everybody on their birthday as perfectly, gorgeously beautiful as you? " Shane complimented her best friend. " Cut the crap, Shane. Do you think I am that too gullible to be easily deceived by your sweet words? Well then, you're not mistaken. " They burst into laughter. Ashley continues, "I need more of those beautiful, sweet, deceiving words of yours. Gosh! They all sound so good to my ears. " Ashley jokingly said to her best friend. " I know, right? Don't worry, I brought more of those with me today and I'm only giving it all to you. " Shane assured her best friend. "Hahaha. You really are my best friend, Shane. You know exactly how to please me. " Ashley told her best friend. " Without a doubt! And here's another one to please the smartest, the most gorgeously beautiful birthday girl in the world today, just today. "proclaimed Shane. "Just today?" Ashley inquired, disappointedly, of her best friend. " Oh, let me rephrase that. The smartest, the most gorgeously beautiful birthday girl, especially today. " Shane corrected her first statement to the likes of her best friend. " Satisfied? " She asked. Ashley just nodded her head and raised a thumb in agreement with her best friend. " Tada! " Shane showed an envelope to her best friend and handed it to her. " What is that? " Ashley curiously asked Shane. " Here, look for yourself. " Shane replied to Ashley " Why don't you give me a hint? " Ashley requested her best friend while receiving the envelope from Shane. " Come on, Ash, just open it. " Shane instructed her best friend. " I won't open it until you give me a hint first about what's inside this envelope. " " Are you sure you don't want to see what's inside that envelope? You might regret that. " Shane entices her best friend. " Why don't you just give me a hint first? So that, I could finally open it and see what's inside. " Ashley persistently asked Shane to give her a hint about what was inside the envelope her best friend handed her. " Okay, fine. Let's just say that the fanatic side of you would be totally pleased with that. " Shane told her best friend. " Fanatic side? Ashley curiously asked. She then opened the envelope to see what was inside. To her surprise, the envelope contained two tickets to the sequel to her favorite rom-com movie. She looked at Shane with full joy. "What the? No way! Seriously? " Ashley joyfully asked her best friend. " See? I knew you'd be totally happy with it. And oh, I bought an extra one for that special person you would want to watch it with. " Shane teasingly said to her best friend. " What are you talking about? I don't get you? " Ashley acted pretentiously towards her best friend. " Oh, I see. Are you telling me that I was some sort of daydreaming when you revealed to me a couple of weeks or so ago about a specific guy and those special feelings you said you have for him? " Shane sarcastically asked her best friend. " Hey, sh! Lower your voice, Shane. Drake might be here in a minute. He doesn't know about it yet. I haven't told him about it yet. So, don't be too loud, or else he could hear you when he comes. " Ashley explained to her best friend. " So, you mean, you haven't told anyone about it yet other than me?" Shane asked her best friend. " Well, not really, Ken knows about it too, but.. " Ashley pauses for a while as she's thinking about whether she's going to tell her best friend about how her brother was so against to what she feels about her brother's best friend. But Shane insisted Ashley to continue on with what she was about to say. " But? But what, Ash? " Shane asked Ashley. " But, I don't think he's okay with it. " Ashley sadly replied to her best friend. " He's not okay with it? What do you mean? " Shane asked her best friend. " I'm not quite sure, Shane, but he said Ther is almost a family, and that things won't go as easily as I wanted, something like that. And he wants me to just stop feeling what I feel for Ther. " Ashley replied to her best friend. " What? Seriously? But why would he ask you that? Why would he ask you to stop your feelings for Ther? Do you think your brother is just being overly protective of you? I mean, you're his only little sister. Maybe he was just not that ready yet to see his little sister to fall in love with some guy. What do you think, Ash? Shane asked her best friend. " I don't know, Shane. I really don't know. But I hope so. I really do hope so. How badly I wish it was just anything like that, plain and simple as that. But why do I sense something more about it, about why did my brother react the way he did when he learned about my feelings for Ther? Ashley confusedly remarked to her best friend. " You mean you're suspecting something, Ash? Shane asked Ashley. " I don't know. Perhaps. To tell you the truth, Shane, I don't know what else to think about here because Ken did not dare to tell me much about it. So, here I am lost, so lost that I don't know what or where should I set myself. " Ashley helplessly said to her best friend.
