The Hospital and Her

You should put a smile on your face, ma'am. There will be some dignitaries at the sub-pack house waiting to welcome you and I don't think the Alpha would be happy with you if you greet them with a long face," a young lady omega called Sparkle advised Au, the Alpha's last sister, who was sitting opposite her in a well decorated mini carriage. They were the only ones in it. "I know . . . I know but I can't help it. Every shifting ceremony reminds me of the fact that the Alpha has denied me from participating in any of them," Au complained with a long face. Sparkle sighed and said, "I understand you, ma'am but I know the Alpha has a good reason for doing so. You of all people know that he has your best interest at heart." "He has my best interest at heart? He never asks me for my opinion, he just takes decisions for me! He is really selfish," Au complained again bitterly. Sparkle quickly said, "Please, ma'am, don't say that. Even though he is your brother, he is still the Alpha and a fierce one at that. He might get angry if he hears you calling him selfish," Au just made a face and looked outside the carriage window. There were a few gammas riding on horses beside the carriage in which Au was. They were the bodyguards that served as escorts for the journey. Five deltas led the way on horses with the Alpha's carriage and Au's carriage behind them. The Deltas were skilled and experienced warlords while the gammas were the guards of the Alpha and his family. "You need to cheer up, ma'am. The ceremony will be fun," Sparkle encouraged. "You can say that because you have your wolf," Au countered with her face still towards the carriage window. Sparkle did not say anything for a while and then said, "At least you would be meeting your eldest sister at the sub-pack house. I know she would be very happy to see you. It has been quite some time since you saw her. I feel seeing her would cheer you up, ma'am." Au turned her face back towards Sparkle's direction and said, "That is exactly the reason why I didn't complain when my brother told me I was going to come along with him to the sub-pack shifting ceremony . . . I see it as an opportunity to meet my sister again and her pups." Alpha Veer was the only male pup of his late father and he had four younger sisters of which three had been taken away as mates. The first was mated to his Beta and closest friend, Beta Sinew, which he put in charge of the sub-pack. The other two were mated out of the pack to an Alpha and a Beta of different far away packs. Au was his last sister and the pup of his father's old age. She had just become nineteen that year two months before. "Nice! At least there is something that would make you happy at the sub-pack house, ma'am," Sparkle said with a smile on her face. Au replied with a smile and then returned her face to the window. Not long, they were at the sub-pack house. An omega opened the gate and they rode into the sub-pack house. All the dignitaries were standing at the front of the sub-pack building putting on the best smiles they could produce on their faces. Beta Sinew and his Beta female, Felicity –the sister to the Alpha–, were standing in front of them all with their two pups. The sub-pack house was heavily guarded with gammas and all the deltas were present too. Alpha Veer's carriage was opened by a gamma and he stepped out with his Luna. He was clothed in a white long-sleeved expensive top and an equally expensive black trousers. He had a red robe on his back. The robe had white spots evenly distributed on it and also white wool fastened around the hem. His shoe was very solid and made a heavy sound as it hit the ground. He had a golden crown decorated with a big diamond pebble, on his head. The Luna was beside him clothed in an expensive sky blue gown with linings attached around it. The hem of the back of her gown was long and flowing. A female omega had to follow behind carrying it. The Luna also had a smaller golden crown on her head, decorated with diamond pebbles. Au also came out from the carriage with her lady omega, Sparkle. Au was dressed in an expensive black gown well decorated with shapes of flowers around the top. Alpha Veer walked majestically to Beta Sinew and gave him a hug. He did the same to his sister, Felicity. The Luna also greeted the Beta and his beta female and so did Au. He went to Beta Sinew's children and pathed them on the back. The Luna bent and kissed them each on their cheeks. "Lovely pups! They are both big. What have you been feeding them? Elephants?" Alpha Veer asked jokingly in his deep voice and they laughed. "I only learnt from the best. I followed your parenting advice," Beta Sinew replied and they laughed again. Beta Sinew and Felicity took the Alpha and the Luna into the packed building discussing and laughing as they went. Au came along with the Beta's pups. She went to meet Felicity and held her by the hand. "Felicity, you look very beautiful. You don't seem to have aged a day." Au said to her with a big smile on her face. "You too, dear. You equally look very beautiful. You are all grown up now," Felicity replied also smiling as they followed through. "Please I feel a little bit sick from the journey. My head aches. Do you have any herbs I can take here?" Au asked Felicity. "Oh, that is not a problem. The head Salutary is just outside . . . Let me mind link him to get some herbs for you," Felicity said. "Why don't I go with him? I will use the opportunity to look around and see the hospital too," Au suggested. "I don't think the Alpha will like you to go by yourself–" "Come with us then. We will go with some gammas . . . Please speak with him for me. I know he would listen to you," Au pleaded with Felicity. Felicity gave it some thought and agreed, "Okay then, let me mind link him." Meanwhile, at the hospital, Rex handed Brawn a bowl of herbs he was mashing and said, "Here! Mash this." He began gathering some other herbs into an empty bowl. Brawn looked into the bowl and enquired, "What are these for?" He noticed that there were a lot of herbs in the bowl handed over to him, the same as the other boys' bowl. "Hey, start mashing before Salutary Hale returns if you don't want some hailstorms and hailstones falling on your head this morning." advised one of the boys who had a sweet light voice almost like that of a lady. His name was Luke but the boys called him 'The Angel' because of his sweet voice –which got sweeter when he sang– and his caring heart. He was the one who mostly saved breakfast for whoever overslept. He was the smallest amongst the boys and also the youngest. He was eighteen years of age. Brawn started mashing as none of the boys ever desired Salutary Hale's "hailstones" and "hailstorms". He knew he was already a potential candidate for it because he had started the day with late coming. ''Hailstones and Hailstorms'' were what the boys used to qualify Salutary Hale's stern words and punishments during a correction. ''Hailstones'' were the blunt words while ''Hailstorms'' were the punishments. "Where is the minister for hail distributions?" Brawn asked as he scanned the hospital for Salutary Hale. Salutary Hale was never late to the hospital so Brawn knew he must be around somewhere in the hospital. "Beta Sinew sent for him this morning. He went to join the other heads of departments in welcoming the Alpha and the Luna that are on their way to the sub-pack house." Luke explained slowly to Brawn in a clear voice while the rest of the boys focused on mashing the herbs. There were a lot of herbs to be mashed and they did not want to waste precious time. "You need to have seen how high and lofty his shoulders were this morning," Rex added in a low voice almost like a whisper. He placed an empty bowl on his tummy under his shirt in mimicry of Salutary Hale. He proceeded to reiterate his walking steps also. He was very cautious not to be noticed by any salutary or guardian around. He demonstrated it so well that it made all the boys laugh silently. As the boys were having a good time mimicking the head Salutary, the front door to the hospital opened and Salutary Hale walked in talking to some werewolves outside. Rex quickly removed the bowl tucked under his top at the sound of the head salutary's voice. "So this is where the whole magic is done," Salutary Hale smirked at his joke and continued, "We have the best-trained guardians and salutaries in the world serving here . . . that is if we are not to count the salutaries and guardians in the main pack though." He simpered again at his second joke. All eyes in the hospital went to the door and were fixed to know who the head salutary was talking to. Au walked in with the Beta female beside her. Sparkle followed behind and a few gammas. Everyone quickly put on their best behaviour as they saw the beta female. Brawn on the other hand was lost when he set his eyes on Au. His eyes were glued to her. She was tall, beautiful and slender with full curves. The long gown she wore was not tightly gripping her body but it gave room for her shape to display. She had a necklace on with a pendant. Her red hair was neatly packed to the back in a ponytail, letting everyone behold the beauty of her face and the sleekness of her neck. One of the boys who was tall with a deep voice tapped Brawn when he noticed that he was lost in his stare. His name was Alex.
