The Walls' Ears

Early the next morning, the Luna sent for Au to see her in her chambers. Au came and met some omegas cutting, trimming and shinning the Luna's nails. Some were focusing on the fingernails while the others took care of the toenails. "My Luna, you sent for me," Au said as she entered the Luna's room. "Oh, Au! Have your seat," The Luna said, welcoming Au. "Thank you," Au said and took her seat. She sat, looking unto the Luna and waiting for what she wanted to say to her. The Luna and Au were not too close. So the Luna rarely called Au into her room unless there were important discussions to be made. She was not close with the Luna because she felt that the Luna always knew about the Alpha imposing his will on her – Au – but did nothing to soften or help her out. "You want your nails done too?" The Luna asked Au. "No, I am fine thank you. Sparkle always helps me with that," Au declined politely. "Oh, I see. I really like that girl. I mean Sparkle. She is very loyal and hardworking," the Luna said with a smile "Yes, my Luna. She indeed is," Au affirmed, nodding her head. There was a brief moment of silence and the Luna said looking at Au, "I and Beta Felicity, your sister just spoke now." "Oh, really? Is she fine? Did she leave any message for me?" Au asked with exhilaration in her voice. "Actually, I spoke with all your sisters. We mind link one another often. They send their goodwill to you. Beta Felicity said she needs some goods from you. Perfumes, body and hair oil and the rest though. She said you know how she wants it," the Luna said. "Yes, I do know how she wants it. I will prepare it right away to be carried to her. How about my other sisters? What did they say?" Au said still excited. "All your sisters are asking you to visit them. I wonder how you are going to divide yourself into three same Au," the Luna said and laughed gently. Au grinned and said, "I know they miss me and I miss them all. Please tell them that I will make out time to see them soon. I will even deliver the goods to my sister, Beta Felicity, myself." "That's nice," the Luna said smiling. The Luna clapped her hands twice and all the omegas left the room. Then she leaned closer to Au and said, "Au my darling, how are you doing? Have you been having a hard time lately with your omegas?" "No, my Luna. I am actually fine. Why . . . Why did you ask?" Au said looking a bit confused at the questions. "Well, I have been noticing your involvement with that young werewolf transferred from the sub-pack to serve with the omegas. I know he follows you to work," the Luna said leaning away. "Well, I actually needed a short time help at the oil factory so I employed him," Au explained. "How about your window that he broke with a stone? Isn't that why he is following to work? So as to repay you for the broken window?" the Luna said slowly. "You know, nothing in this pack house is hidden from me," she added. Au's heart started thumping faster under her ribs. She wondered how the Luna got to know . . . probably it was through those omegas with loose mouths. "I am sorry for lying to you, my Luna. I actually saw it as a trivial matter that I could handle without bothering you or the Alpha. That was why I took care of it," Au said. The Luna smiled and said, "It is actually no problem. I heard you don't like him. I wanted to tell you that if he is becoming too much of a pain to you, you can hand him over to me. I know how to handle him." "That won't be necessary, my Luna. I have him under my control. Thank you for your concern," Au said, trying to convince the Luna against carrying out any action. "Okay then. I almost forgot. I told your sisters that suitors are coming for you soon. They are really happy and can't wait for your wolf to emerge so that they can mind link you easily," the Luna said. Au nodded and smiled faintly. "I know that you will be leaving for work soon so let me not hold you up any longer. You can take your leave now," the Luna said. Au stood up and hugged the Luna, dabbing her cheeks on the Luna's cheeks. She said as she released the Luna from her embrace, "Thank you, my Luna once again." "You are welcome," the Luna answered. Au walked to the door and left the room. When she got out, she walked to her room wondering how long the Luna had known about Brawn's involvement with her. She wondered if the Alpha knew too. She was thankful that she had not told anyone about her developing feelings toward him. If not, Brawn might have gotten into trouble. When she got to her room, she saw Brawn standing beside her door with his hands crossed at his back. "Good morning, ma'am. I am reporting for duty just as you said, ma'am," Brawn said. Au looked at him and said, "Wait here. I'll call you in when I need you." After saying this, she opened the door, went inside and shut it behind her. Brawn stood there wondering if standing outside Au's was part of his job description or if she wanted to do something inside the room that she didn't want him to see or probably she wanted to change her clothes or Sparkle was dressing up. As Au entered her room, she walked down to Sparkle who was combing her hair and said in a low voice, "The Luna knows that Raw broke my window." Sparkle turned and asked looking surprised, "What did she say?" "She asked me to hand him over to her if he is bothering me," Au answered. "And what did you say, ma'am?" Sparkle asked. "I told her there was no need, of course!" Au said. Sparkle nodded in approval and Au said, "I wonder how she got to know." "She might have heard it from anywhere, ma'am," Sparkle replied. "I thought as much," Au said. Sparkle continued combing her hair and Au informed her, "My sister, Beta Felicity, wants some goods delivered to her." "Hmmm, so are you delivering it yourself or you will send the gammas to do so on your behalf?" Sparkle asked, packing most of her hair in a ponytail. "I wanted to go myself but on second thought, I think you should go on my behalf. It has been a while since I have been to the factory and if I go to the sub-pack now, my sister won't want me to leave," Au said. "So . . . when do I leave, ma'am?" Sparkle asked looking at her reflection in the mirror. "Now. We will go to the oil factory to gather everything she ordered for. From there, you will go with some gammas to the sub-pack," Au explained. "Okay, ma'am," Sparkle said in agreement. "I will be sending a lot of goods to her apart from what she ordered for so you will be going in one of my carriages. Also, don't let her pay for the goods, okay? No matter how she persuades you," Au Instructed. "No problem, ma'am but she will like to know why you didn't come with me. What do I tell her?" "Tell her that I would come to visit her very soon but I couldn't do so today because there were things I wanted to settle," Au said. "Okay, ma'am. No problem, ma'am." "Are you set to leave?" Au asked. "I am done, ma'am," Sparkle replied standing up from the chair in front of the mirror. "Is everything set?" Au asked looking around. "Yes, ma'am," Sparkle confirmed. "How about lunch? Have you packed it?" Au asked specifically. "Yes, I packed lunch for both of us. That is it in the bag on the table but I think I should unpack mine since I am leaving for the sub-pack –" "No, there will be no need for that. Take it with you so that you can eat it on the way. You know the journey might last till midday or sunset," Au said and Sparkle nodded. "Inform the gammas to prepare two carriages and also an escort team that will follow you to the sub-pack house," Au instructed and Sparkle nodded again. Au looked around the room once again and Sparkle joined her in doing so. "Shall we?" Au said and Sparkle grabbed the bag on the table as they came out of the room. Brawn was leaning on the wall to support his legs in carrying his body weight. When the two ladies came out, he stood erect. Au passed him without saying a word which did not baffle him while Sparkle smiled and waved to him as they made their way out of the pack building.
