CHAPTER 26 - FROM FITTING'S TO BUSINESS - AVERLY'S POV

1253 Words
Lady Sonya hummed and harred as she circled my sister, who was wearing her wedding dress and looking unbelievably beautiful. Everyone always spoke of my beauty, but Casey really was the prettiest of the two of us. She simply hid it under all those dull colors and her hair she often kept loose to shield her face. ''As I said that day in the garden, your chest size has gone up,'' She complained, while Casey's hands clenched into fists, ''I'll need to adjust the bust.'' ''The hips are a little tight too,'' Beth, her assistant, said as she touched my twins hips, and I got the urge to slap her. ''Do like the color?'' I asked, trying to distract her. ''It’s such a pretty dark blue, like flames,'' ''I don't know,'' She looked down at it, ''It doesn't really match my hair.'' ''Well, red hair isn't the easiest to match with,'' Sonya complained, ''Perhaps forest green? Or silver? And I'm not sure about this dress style anymore. Not now that I've seen it on you. It's not made for someone with your curvy shape,'' She huffed, her voice dripping with disdain. My heart sank. ''Aiden loves her curvy shape,'' I pointed out, and Sonya paled a little. ''Yes, well, of course he does,'' She cleared her throat, ''She is lovely, it's just not the easiest to fit.'' ''Perhaps we should try a different style?'' Beth suggested, probably to ease the tension, but Sonya wasn’t having it. ''No, no. This is the only dress style worthy of a royal wedding.'' Sonya stepped back, and continued her critiques. ''But we could alter it slightly, cut it here,'' She pointed to the waist area, ''Add another panel down the sides, and perhaps black lace.'' Just then, the door swung open, and Lady Elenore burst in with Selene. ''I hope you don't mind the interruption. I heard from Ryker you were getting fitted for the wedding, and couldn't resist. May we stay and help?'' Casey and I exchanged a look, but she smiled back at Elenore, ''Of course, you're more than welcome.'' ''Oh, wonderful!'' She clapped, and turned to Selene, ''Go pick out your fabric for the wedding, and stay away from blue, if that's the color the Luna's are wearing.'' ''Yes, mother,'' She smiled and wandered off. Goddess I despised that b*tch. ''You look lovely, Casidy,'' Elenore gushed as she took my sister's hands, ''What a beautiful bride you'll be,'' She said and turned to me, ''You too Averly, my Goddess, the King is a lucky man.'' I smiled and nodded. Every time I thought of my mate since our engagement party, I felt flushed all over. I wanted him to touch us again, but he kept giving excuses not to be alone with us in our rooms for too long. After another two hours, trying fit after fit, and more materials than I thought existed, we finally stepped out of the shop, after landing on us both wearing silver gowns with fitted bodices and way too many diamonds and pearls for Casey's liking. I felt lighter. The world outside was bright and filled with possibilities. We were marrying the man of our dreams, we were going to Queens, and after we dealt with this stupid ritual, I could have my little Dragon hatchling and enjoy life with no more training or pain. As if the universe knew I was thinking about the tears, the sirens sounded, and Casey grabbed my arm, ''LET'S GO!'' We ran at top speed, with our guards behind us, leaving Elenore and Selene behind looking troubled. Members of the Thunder ran in the opposite direction, so we knew we were getting close, and then we felt it. A surge of power, strong and terrifying. ''GET BACK!'' A guard shouted at the cities entrance but we ran past him. ''THERE!'' Casey shouted and pointed towards the treeline. ''STAY BACK!'' She shouted at our guards, as we saw Aiden fly down. ''Are you ready?'' She asked as we stopped close by. ''I am,'' I said nervously, as we linked hands. ''This is just a small one, it's childs play,'' My sister smiled, ''Just stay focused on me.'' I gulped and began. Our hands started to shine, and I maintained the same energy as my sister. ''NOW!'' Casey shouted, and we threw out our hands towards the rift. A stream of light shot from us and hit it. The light from the tear tried to overpower our energy, but soon enough, it began dying off, and the tear was repairing itself, closing slowly. Finally, the tear sealed shut, leaving a calmness in its wake, and we both collapsed to the ground, breathless and exhausted. ''Ava, Casey!'' Aiden shouted, as he ran over to us, only wearing a pair of black pants. When he reached us, he sat down on his knees and pulled us into a hug while Ryker started ordering the warding and protection spells to be reactivated in this area. ''We're alright,'' Casey assured out mate, who was shaking slightly, ''It was just a small one. ''You did so well,'' He murmured, and I heard footsteps approaching us, ''Don't worry, this will all be ove in a few months, and you'll have to do this again.'' ''Sounds good to me,'' I joked and rested my head against his bare chest. ''Let's get you home to rest,'' Aiden leaned back and looked at us. ''I'll shift, and I'll carry you back.'' ''I'll help them onto your back,'' Nolan said, and we turned to see him standing there. ''Thanks,'' Aiden smiled at his brother and stood up. After he helped us to our feet, he moved back and shifted. True to his word, Nolan helped us up onto his back, but I noticed him holding Casey a little longer than was necessary, and she even pushed him away in frustration when he didn't let her waist go. ''Sorry, I was worried you'd fall.'' He said and stepped back. His whole ruse to get Casey to like him, so she'd ask Aiden to remove the collar was clearly wearing thin on my sisters patience. I held on tight, and Aiden extended his wings, flapping them twice before he jumped up into the air. I smiled as I was the ground below and enjoyed the feeling of flying, but it wasn't long before he was circling his wing of the castle and lowering us to the ground. Nanny was waiting in the courtyard, looking troubled, and rushed over to us with a female maid. They helped us down, and Nanny bowed her head. ''Yes, sir.'' She said, and rushed us inside. ''The King wants you both into a warm bath to relax, and he'll come back in an hour, once he's sure the warding is finished.'' ''Okay,'' Casey said weakly, and didn't argue as we went to the bathroom, ''I'm not going to miss this feeling,'' She said as we began to undress with Nanny's help, ''I'm so over these damned tears.'' ''Watch your language,'' Nanny scolded her, but her tone was light, ''Just climb into the hot water, you'll feel better once your body temperature goes back up.'' ''I can't wait until we can relax in the lava,'' I said with longing, and slipped under the hot water. ''It is wonderful,'' Nanny smiled, as she gathered up our dresses, ''Well. Other than the tear, did you have fun trying on your wedding dresses?'' Casey groaned and slipped under the water, while I answered Nanny's questions.
