I walked out of the girl's wing and quickly shifted once I had enough room, it felt nice to stretch my wings after such a tense few hours, I took off into the air and flew back to my wing, arriving in seconds.
I didn’t want to shift back, but I needed to wash and get to this stupid meeting. Once I was finally clean and dressed again, I walked towards my council chambers.
Several clan members asked about the girls as I passed them and I kept repeating the same story. They were doing well but resting for a few days.
''Hello your majesty,'' Selene greeted me as the guards opened the doors to the council chambers.
''Selene,'' I smiled at her. She was in a very pretty green dress today with her dark hair up elegantly.
''Are you well?'' She asked kindly. ''I was just checking on my father, his arm got hurt from the rift.''
I nodded, so he’d lied to his mate and child about the injury. Part of me felt guilty for hurting my friend, but I would do it again if he tried something like that again.
''I am,'' I lied. I was still very weak, bringing Casey back to life had really depleted me. ''If you’ll excuse me, I have to go.''
''Of course,'' She smiled and stepped aside, ''And please let the Luna’s know my thoughts are with them.''
''That is very kind Selene, thank you.''
I walked past her into the room where 10 council members were standing around talking. I wondered again what Selene could have done to upset the twins. She always seemed like a lovely young lady to me, even with her father spoiling her all the time.
‘Lets get this over with, I called out and the men stopped talking. ''I want to get back to my mates.''
All 10 men sat down around the table. I could sense the weight of worry hanging in the air. Our city, once vibrant and safe, now faced a threat unlike any I had seen before.
''Your majesty,'' Amere, the Celestials historian and trainer. ''How are the girls?''
''Healing,'' I answered, ''Their training will be suspended for a week.''
''Yes, sir.'' He said, ''I wanted to come see them but I didn't know if that would be appropriate giving their new static''
''It's not,'' I told him ''You will see them in their training center...'' I paused for a moment, ''Wait. Are you implying you've been to their wing?''
''Only in the guarded area,'' He said quickly, ''I haven't been inside their bedroom.''
''Okay, and they will be moved to my private wing as soon as possible. It'll probably be within the week.''
''Do you think that's appropriate, your majesty? Hanson, the head historian and chronicler of my time as King, ''You are not married yet, and.''
''And nothing,'' I cut him off, ''I wasn't asking permission. I'm simply filling you in on the situation.''
''Do you truly believe you will be able to.... restrain your desires for you mates?'' Tamara, the head of the Temple asked. ''You know the Luna's must be... pure on the wedding night.''
''They will be.'' I told her, ''I have some self-control.''
''While they're in a separate wing, and weren't aware of the bond.'' Camile, my master of coin, asked, with a small smirk on her face.
''I can control myself,'' I responded, though truthfully, I didn't know if I really could. ''Now enough. They will be virgins on the wedding night, and Tamara, I want the wedding soon.''
''We spoke about this after the ball, we have to wait until they are of age so they can mark you.''
''I don't care about that,'' I told her, ''I will mark them, and they can return the mark on their birthday. I want the wedding organised, so get it done.''
''Yes, sir.'' She bowed her head.
''Ryker, is the cleanup finished?''
''Yes, it was completed an hour ago.''
''Good, and the strengthening of the protection barrier?''
''It's underway. Should be done by nightfall.''
''Alright good.'' I nodded and changed the subject to the attack I'd just returned from, filling the council in on everything that they needed to know, before I finished up, and looked at clock on the wall.
''Now if that is all, I want to get back to my mates.''
''Actually,'' Boyd, my minister of justice, raised his hand, and I fell silent, ''Your majesty. I fear that what I am about to say will encourage your wrath, but I must speak my mind.''
I listened wearily, ''Proceed.''
''I was in the garden during the tear,'' He told me, ''I saw the Luna's, and Celestial Ava was struggling. Luna Casidy had to compensate her for her failings. I don't believe she will be strong enough when the time comes.''
''So what are you saying?'' I asked angrily. ''You think Ava will die!?''
''No, your majesty,'' He shook his head. ''I believe Lady Casidy will.''
''How so?'' Ryker asked.
''She will have to compensate for her sister again,'' He answered. ''Much like she did yesterday, and it will cost her, her life. You can not tell me that you haven’t thought the same thing, your majesty.''
I growled in warning but leaned back in my chair. It had crossed my mind over the years. Casey was far more powerful than Ava. I didn’t know why, perhaps Ava just hadn’t tapped into her full potential yet.
''Perhaps,'' I admitted angrily. ''But I will be there to save them both.''
''And if you die?'' Ryker asked, as I turned to him, smoke escaping my nose, and he gulped, ''If we lose you. The line dies out.''
''Don't be ridiculous, I have a brother.'' I reminded him, ''I will make sure Amere and I pick up the girls training to strengthen Ava, and this is the last we will discuss it.'' I said as I stood up, ''Now, if that is all, I am leaving. Ryker, link me once the strengthening spells finished.''
''Yes, your majesty.''
I stood up and left the council room. Heading straight to the girls.
