CHAPTER 30 - YOU'LL KILL HER - CASIDY'S POV.

2000 Words
I pulled my cloak around my body, cutting off the cold air of the morning breeze, while we waited for Aiden, who was talking to his Beta. They looked like they were arguing, but Aiden held up his hand, and Ryker fell silent, bowed and walked away. ''Are you ready?'' Aiden asked stiffly. ''Yes,'' I answered, while Ava grabbed my arm. ''I don't want to go. Please don't do this.'' ''Let's go!'' I ripped my arm free. Aiden gave me a pained expression, but nodded and passed a small bag to Ava, ''Please carry this for me, it's go some clothing in it.'' Ava held the bag to her chest, and Aiden stepped away so he could shift. We climbed onto his back, and I held on tightly, as I closed my eyes, and felt Aiden launch us into the sky. We flew for over an hour, and when the air grew colder, and I peeked over Aidens body, looking down. We flew over decaying forests, their branches like skeletal fingers reaching for us. The ground a barren rock. I saw it long before we landed. The fortress prison stood like a jagged tooth against the gray sky, and there were guards patrolling the area. What shocked me, upon landing, was noticing that it wasn't just Dragon guards. There was Lycan's, Trolls and Witches too. All united in keeping my Grandmother trapped inside. After Aiden had shifted and redressed, he turned to us, as a man came running towards us. ''You will not touch her, you will not be alone with her, and you will not leave anything inside that can be used as weapon. That being said,'' Aiden walked up to Ava and started removing long jeweled pins from her hair, and placed them into the bag his clothing had been kept in. ''I will return them once we leave.'' Ava nodded, and looked over at the prison with trepedition. ''Your majesty!'' The Dragon finally reached us, and bowed, ''My ladies,'' He bowed us to, before looking back at our mate, ''Everything is prepared and the prisoner is waiting in the courtyard.'' ''Thank you Kagura,'' Aiden responded, and passed him the bag, ''Keep this outside for me.'' ''Yes, sir,'' He bowed his head and started walking us over to the large iron entrance, ''Sire, this is Cindell. She will lead you to the courtyard.'' He pointed to large Troll women with one gray and one blue eye. She was wearing a golden and leather armor over her clothing, and stood a foot shorted them myself and Ava. ''So you're the King?'' She asked, sizing him up, ''My Queen said you were handsome. I guess she was telling the truth.'' Ava cleared her throat, and glared at the women, ''You won't be able to see how handsome he is if I cut out your good eye.'' Aiden touched her back, ''Calm yourself my sunshine.'' He said, as Cindell laughed. ''I like her.'' She commented and looked at me, ''And you? Are you going to threaten me to stay away from your mate? I heard the two of you share him.'' ''If I have to threaten you, then he's not really mine, now is he?'' I spat angrily, ''Now, can we stop wasting time? Lead us to her or get me another guide.'' Cindell smiled at me, ''This way, please.'' She said and turned toward the iron gates, ''Pull it up, Nibor!'' My stomach churned when I stepped through the gate, and my twin sister gripped my hand, as we walked inside with Aiden. Inside, the chill deepened. Cindell led us through silent halls and into a small, damp chamber, before going to another open door where two Fae guards stood to attention. ''I will wait here,'' Cindell bowed her head, ''The prisoner's over there.'' Aiden continued into the courtyard, and there she was. Our grandmother. A young beautiful woman with dark black curled hair, and along scar up her arm. She didn't look like a mad tyrant to me. She was sitting on the ground pulling some petals off the flower stems, and putting them into a woven basket. Upon hearing us, she paused and turned, her eyes held a sharp, furious glint as she took in Aiden, and then she turned her gaze to myself and Ava, and smiled. ''I see,'' She laughed humorlessly and returned to her task, ''So this is why I was allowed to have extra time in the courtyard today. I was receiving guests.'' ''Ayanna,'' Aiden said her name, and she glared back at him. ''It's been a long time, your majesty, I'm honored.'' She smiled viciously, before her gaze fell to me and Ava, lingering on our shared features. ''And who are these young beauties?'' ''You already know,'' I said angrily as I took a step closer, ''I can feel your power, you must be able to feel ours.'' ''I can't feel anything,'' Ava surprised me by stating and looking confused. ''You shouldn't be able to feel power here,'' Aiden commented in surprise, but our grandmother laughed. ''So you're the one.'' ''One what?'' I asked. ''The Siphon,'' She answered, confusing me, before looking at Ava, ''Which means you're the Rein.'' ''What are you even talking about?'' I asked. Ayanna looked at us with a strange expression, ''Your mother didn't tell you about the Celestials?'' ''Our mother tried to kill us,'' I told her, ''Because of you.'' ''Did she?'' Ayanna smiled, ''Well, she was always a pathetic jealous little b*tch.'' ''Jealous? Or angry? Your daughter was birthed by your sister and not you, wasn't she?'' Ayanna smiled, ''Correct.'' ''So that's why she tried to kill us. You killed her mother and she thought one or both of us would be evil like you are?'' ''I assume so.'' She answered, ''However, it's more likely she was just jealous that you were powerful while she was nothing but a damn Dragon. She was complaining all damned day that she didn't have powers, it was exhausting listing to her, and she was only eight when we performed the ritual.'' ''How can you say such awful things about your own child?'' Ava asked. ''Even if your sister did birth her, you're twins, you're just as much her mother as your sister was.' ''Naw, you're an adorable innocent little thing, aren't you,'' She laughed and continued to pluck pedals. ''Can we just get back on track?'' I asked. ''What's a Siphon and a Rein?'' ''Well, because you don't know, a Rein is a harness that is used to restrain the Siphon,'' She pointed to me, ''Which is you. You absorb the power, and will be the one to close the rift.'' ''So that's why you always feel more powerful when we try?'' Ava looked at me. ''You're taking power from everything around us, even me.'' ''It's a pity too,'' Ayanna smiled at Ava, ''Because you're going to die as a result.'' ''Excuse me?'' I asked. ''If the Rein isn't strong enough to match the power input of her twin, then the twin's power will be drained, and she'll die during the ritual.'' She then looked back at me, ''And you'll kill her too.'' ''Is that your excuse for killing your sister?'' I asked. ''What did you tell my granddaughters?'' Ayanna asked. ''Did you tell them I killed my twin on purpose?'' ''You did,'' Aiden stepped forward, his eyes cold. ''You didn't care about her, don't pretend like you didn't mean it.'' ''You know nothing!'' She snarled, her eyes darkened in anger, ''Why are you even here? You obviously want something from me?'' ''Aiden told us what you'd done, and I wanted to hear it from your own mouth,'' I told her, ''I want to hear how you could kill your own twin?'' ''Aiden?'' She picked up on the fact that I'd used his name and not title. ''Don't tell me you're mated to my granddaughters?'' She started laughing, ''Oh my, that must be awful for you. How does it feel to touch them, knowing their grandmother killed your mother?'' We froze and looked at our mate. He hadn't told us that. Another secret he'd kept to himself. ''My girls are nothing like you. I don't think about you at all when I'm with them.'' He told her, ''In fact, I don't think about you at all, nor does anyone else. I've made sure the world's forgetting about you, and when you die, your name will be gone forever.'' ''Perhaps,'' She shrugged and looked at me, ''They'll be thinking about your mate after the ritual anyway, once she kills this weak one.'' ''I'm not going to kill her!'' I shouted, my blood running cold. ''You could avoid it,'' She smiled at me, ''You could finish what I started. You could absorb the power. If your mate hadn't interrupted me, I could have brought my sister back, but instead, he attacked and now the worlds dying.'' ''Don't blame Aiden!'' Ava shouted, ''You're the course of this! And now we could die because of your selfish grab for power!'' ''You're so young, power is everything.'' She responded, ''I could have ruled.'' ''I thought you only did it to save your sister?'' Ava asked, smugly, ''Not to rule?'' ''With enough power, I could of had both.'' She answered, ''Just like your sister could have both, you on the other hand, you'll be dead. Your sister can finish off where your mother failed.'' ''I'm glad you're going to die in here all alone and unloved!.'' Ava snapped, but I grabbed her arm. ''I want to know something.'' I asked. She smiled at me, ''Oh, and what's that?'' ''You were able to perform the ritual without your sister,'' I pointed out, ''She died, and you continued, so is it possible to do it alone?'' ''It is.'' She nodded, ''You'll definitely die though.'' ''You didn't die!'' ''Your mate interrupted the ritual. Besides, my sister absorbed all the power and died for me.'' ''Do you not feel any remorse for what you've done?'' ''Why would I?'' She asked, and actually sounded confused, ''I never forced my sister to perform the ritual. She knew their was a chance one of us would die, and I was trying to bring her back.'' ''Liar. You weren't trying to bring her back.'' Ava shook her head. ''You seem very annoying,'' Ayanna said viciously, ''How your twin stands it, is beyond me. Maybe she's hoping you'll die and she can free of you.'' ''Okay, that's enough,'' Aiden grabbed my arm, ''Are you done? Did you get what you wanted from this stupid trip?'' I pulled my arm away, and looked back at her, ''I didn't want to believe it.'' I admitted, ''I wanted to hear you say that Aiden was lying. That you didn't actually kill her, that he was wrong, because if he was wrong about you, then he was about our mother.'' ''Spare me your sob story kid,'' She rolled her eye, ''I'm not here to make your life better, and fix your woes.'' ''You're a monster, and I'm glad Aiden locked you away,'' I snarled and turned to my mate, ''I'm ready to go.'' ''Good, let's go.'' We started walking out, when Ayanna shouted, ''Have the dreams started yet?'' I froze, I had been having weird dreams since I'd moved into Aiden's wing of the castle. A tomb and the Thunder crying. Screaming and a rift getting bigger, but I hadn't told Aiden or Ava. I took a deep breath and kept walking, but Ayanna laughed. ''I saw it to Kid,'' She kept calling after us, ''You can't change it. You'll never save her!'' I ignored her, and we left the prison in silence, but when the iron gates closed, and we met up with Cindell again, Ava grabbed my arm. ''What did she mean about dreams?'' ''No clue,'' I lied, ''Maybe I'm going to start having dreams or visions of the ritual. Let's just go. You two were right, we shouldn't have come. It was a waste of time.''
