Lizzy's POV
“Guess who I found.” Conash drawled when we got closer.
The girls turned their heads at me, and Drey's eyes widened into a smile before she flung her hands wide open, pulling me in a hug.
“I would never have thought I would be seeing you here. Are you here for your outfit?”
“Outfit?” I questioned.
Conash gestured them closer with her hand, and like clusters, they circled her. “I saw her with a man. A pale one who can't even match up with Onyx.” She tsked.
“He is just a friend.” I chipped in before they could blow it out of proportion because they would outright do that.
“Hmmm…someone is just a friend.” Drey shrieked with eyes wide as saucers, a grin cascading her face before she winked at me.
“How's he?” Drey bumped my elbow; her eyes searched over my shoulders as though Lucian was going to pop up any minute from now.
“He looks smart, fine too, and he seems taken by her.” Conash explained. “It’s a pity that her heart is taken by Onyx already.”
“My heart isn't, and I'm not supposed to be here. I have no plans of going to the bonfire.”
“Why wouldn't you?” Drey inquired, sharing glances with the others who waited for a response.
“I don't think I'm in the right frame of mind for that.” I answered. “Not after what had happened.”
“It isn't always that way, and we are fine too. Nothing too serious, but you should know that it wouldn’t happen again. Furthermore, you will be with us; no one will harm you when you are. Onyx gets really busy during the bonfires and will rarely be seen, so being with us is your best bet.” Kourtney said.
They all stared, waiting to see what I was going to do or say.
I stood watching the racks filled with clothes, shimmering tops, dainty pretty skirts, and shoes that sat just right on a locker.
I was tempted, so close to splurging on this; I could put something together, something hot like Onyx had instructed, but it was going to go against what I had decided to go with.
Onyx had to stay far away from my heart, and the only way to make that happen was to keep my distance.
“You guys should have fun.” Kourtney's eyes were averted to the ground, obviously hurt at the decision I had come to.
“You should go out more, have a good time, sway that waist, and make Onyx jealous. You can do that by dancing with one of the numerous brothers driving in from Oregon; it will have Onyx running mad.”
“I think I will pass. I don't want to be there. I have work to do, and I should get back to it.”
Conash inhaled deeply behind me. “If that's what you want…” she shrugged, getting back to the racks. “I guess we have no other option than to let her go.’
I swirled on my heels, sauntering off when Drey added. “You know Tiffany would be there.”
My feet halted at what she had just uttered. “But it's good. We will be able to bond with her.”
“f**k,” I cursed. I grasped my bag tighter, heart pounding, before dragging my feet back.
“I think it would be a great way to get acquainted with the club,” my fingers moved over the racks. “So why don't I get into picking what would be perfect for tonight?”
“I told you it would work.” I heard Drey say to Kourtney, gleefully. “She likes Onyx too much to have that predator close to him. She wouldn't want to lose him.”
“That isn't true,” I responded while holding a gown over my head. “I think spending more time with you all would be great.” I lied.
If Drey knew, she didn't make me aware of it as we got into picking what we thought would be the best outfit.
“I bet you…” she threw a short at me. “If you get to the party in that, Onyx would be tempted to gouge out the eyes of anyone who dares to take a second look at you.”
I held the short, deciding to take it with me, just to see if Onyx really would.
“Why don't you pick me up? I should be ready by ten; is that a good time?” I chewed on my fingers, wondering what was going to be Onyx's reaction when he saw me.
“We will be there earlier than that, just to be certain you don't get stuck. We are sisters, remember?”
It was almost impossible to forget that, especially after they had shown me repeatedly that they always had my back.
“Drey told me you still haven't been f****d yet.” That startled me, while sounding crude.
Conash stood, arms akimbo, while waiting for an answer.
I gulped in; my eyes hovered everywhere except on their faces. “Why? You must have had all the time with him; don't tell me you are scared he would be too big?”
I hiccuped, searching into my bag for my inhaler when I felt something heavy in my pocket. My hands went in when an inhaler dropped on my palm.
With brows crossed, I frowned, wondering how it got here when my mind drifted off to Onyx. Why would he do this?
My heart melted. If indeed he had been the one, wouldn’t that make me selfish?
My hands pressed the inhaler into my palm. “What do you mean?"
“Onyx's cock.”
“Have you seen it?” My stomach sank, a little harder than it ought to.
Had he slept with her too?
“No, but rumors about how big he is keep hovering around the clubhouse. Why don't we give you a prospect to get Onyx rattled a bit; what do you think?”
