I sat down to cash up at the end of my shift. I took my time. Conrad had left just before closing, but I had a feeling he’d be waiting outside for me. Annoyed, I glanced over to Rachel who was sitting across from me.
“Jerry’s?” I asked quietly.
“No need to ask me twice,’ she giggled, “Let’s go right now! Get this party started.”
“Agreed, no time like the present,” I said.
We walked out the back that led into the alley.
Lo and behold, Conrad was waiting for me, leaning back against the wall with his hands in his pockets.
He looked surprised to see Rachel with me.
Deciding to ignore his presence, I swooped past him with Rachel by my side.
“Hey, isn’t that your guy from table 24?” Rachel whispered.
“He’s not my ‘guy’ Rachel.”
“Maybe so, but he is super cute,” she smiled.
“I haven’t noticed,” I lied. “Let’s hurry up.”
Rachel suddenly turned around and yelled back towards Conrad, “Hey mister, come to Jerry’s and buy your favorite waitress some tequilas, why don’t you?!”
“Shhh Rachel,” I said while turning her around, “Just girls tonight, okay?”
“Ugh fine, but if he does pitch then it’s not my fault, it just means he likes you,” she winked.
