TO PLEASE MY HUSBAND
MIA
“Do you think West will be back in time for the haze?”
My best friend, Tanya, asks me as we walk down an aisle of fresh fruits.
It’ll be my third haze season with West since we got married, and I was really, really looking forward to it.
I stop by a row of fresh apples and pick a large green one up. Apples are West’s favorite fruit. He can never get enough of them.
“He does seem to be getting enough of you.” My wolf sneers at me.
I shake my head, trying to push her mean voice to the back of my mind.
She’s as cranky as she’s horny during this season.
“He’ll be home by the time I get back,” I finally reply, putting the fruit into my full basket as a smile creeps up to my face.
“We’ve planned a trip to Tuscany, a little romantic getaway with just the two of us. Away from the madness of the pack this season.”
The twinkle of delight in Tanya’s eyes tells me she knows exactly what I’m talking about.
During haze, every werewolf above sixteen years old is thrown into heat immediately, overcome with a desire to mate.
It was never my favorite part of the year, but getting married to West made it easier for me.
Tanya grabs my right hand and locks it with her left.
“You’re so lucky, Mia! You caught the eye of West Blackthorne!” She fans her face with her fingers. “He’s so hot. With his green eyes and sexy voice. He definitely talks you through it.”
Heat floods my cheeks.
Hearing my best friend fantasize about my husband is definitely not on my bingo card today.
Not that I can blame her.
Haze makes everyone go crazy, and West…well, he is the hottest and sexiest man in the pack after all.
“Tanya,”
“He must be a beast in bed!”
“Tanya…”
“The muscles on him? Gosh! I just know he’s as big down there as his muscles are, and…”
“Alright, that’s enough.”
She suddenly catches herself. A nervous laugh sneaks out of her throat.
“Come on, Mia. I’m your best friend, you can tell me. The entire pack would be crawling with horny wolves and she-wolves, and we don’t all have hot husbands. Please, just this once, allow me to live through you.”
She is right, she’s my best friend.
Maybe I can be honest with her. Maybe, I can tell her the truth— I have no idea what I’m doing for more than half the time.
Perhaps, she can give me the help I need to make West extremely happy in this haze, to finally satisfy him.
She’s always been very skilled in that department.
“Actually,”
I stand still, swallowing the lump in my throat.
“Things aren’t…really like you think.”
Concern flashes in her gaze immediately.
“What do you mean?” Her eyes dance around my face. “Is something wrong?”
I can’t believe I’m about to say it out loud. I’ve never admitted this to anyone, not even myself.
“I always get the feeling West isn’t really…satisfied with me.”
Her brows furrow, but I continue.
“I always see this look in his eyes when we…” I can’t even bring myself to say the words out loud.
“f**k?”
Heat crawls up my neck, slowly resting on my cheeks. I don’t need to touch them to know they’re flaming red.
“Have intercourse,” I correct.
“I can…I always feel like he wants something more, something I’m not giving to him. And I don’t know what it is. I’ve never been able to bring myself to ask him, but he never feels completely satisfied.”
Tanya exhales once I’m done speaking.
“Well, that’s tough. Uhmm, do you get on top very often? Trust me, men really love that.”
My eyes widen.
“Get on top? On top of what?”
Tanya arches her brow. I can see she’s trying so hard not to laugh, and she’s failing with every second of silence that passes between us.
“Wait, you’re serious. You don’t…you’ve never jumped on his c**k?!”
My stomach lights up in flames as I rush to her, pressing her palm firm against her big mouth.
“Don’t say that out loud.”
I look around, hoping no one heard her yell such profanity. Only when I’m sure she’ll behave, do I release her from my grip.
“No,” I clear my throat.
“I’ve never done that. I don’t…” my gaze slowly lowers to the ground. “I don’t know how to.”
Tanya grabs my left hand this time, and I look up at her. She has the brightest, most mischievous smile on her face.
“You’re coming with me.”
She drags me all over the mall, and we soon make our way into a dimly lit store with neon lights that make me dizzy.
I’ve never come this far down the mall before. I had absolutely no idea this section even existed.
On my right are life sized dolls with huge female parts, dressed in sexy lingerie. Rubber v*****s are lined on a shelf, some even have artificial hair.
I part my lips to speak, but the next thing I see leaves me speechless.
The shelves on my left are filled with rubber male parts, varieties of colours, lengths—is that an octopus shaped c**k?
I quickly look away.
“What is this?” I whisper, my voice comes out breathy instead of firm.
Every instinct I have is screaming at me to turn around, walk out, and pretend I never saw any of this. I could tell Tanya I need to use the bathroom.
I could fake a phone call from West. I could simply pass out right here on this floor and let the moon goddess take me.
I look around, mentally plotting my escape, when…
“You’re going to learn how to ride a c**k. And this…” I hold my breath as she reaches for a monstrous sized male part from the shelf. “…is practice material.”
Absolutely not.
“Tanya, I…”
“No. Not another word from you. You, my darling, are going to learn what it takes to please a man this season. You won’t want to lose him to another s*x crazy skilled she-wolf out there, will you?”
The thought makes my gut twist into a tight knot.
I already lost a man during haze, years ago. It’ll tear me apart to lose West too.
“No…”
“Good. Hold this,” my basket is filled to the brim, so she takes it from me and places the toy in my hands.
“Let’s find more practice material for you.”
Thirty minutes later, my arms are full with all kinds of s*x toys, and a red hot lingerie Tanya threw in for good measure.
I can barely see what’s ahead of me with everything I’m struggling to hold.
“Holy s**t, Mia!”
“What?”
“There’s a super hot guy at the entrance, and he’s staring at us.”
I fight the strong urge to roll my eyes. After all, she does have to find a partner for haze season. If she doesn’t, her urges will only worsen next year.
I can’t let that happen to her. I just have to make sure he’s not a psycho, like all her exes are.
“Do you think I should go talk to him?”
“What? Where?” I look up, heart pounding in my chest as I follow the direction of her gaze.
Anxiety slowly creeps into me.
And I know why.
My gaze catches a pair of familiar—very familiar— emerald green eyes, cold and unamused. The hard lines of his face fold into a scowl.
What is he doing here?
He slips his phone into the breast pocket of his black leather jacket, and begins walking…towards me.
“He’s coming. How do I look?”
Tanya turns to me, but I can’t bring myself to look at her, or tear my gaze away from the brooding eyes fixed on me.
Xander Blackthorne, my own nightmare from hell, my husband’s father.
He looks away from my face, down to my hands. I’m suddenly aware of everything I’m holding.
Every hair in my body stands on end from the shock, and embarrassment.
I look around, searching for somewhere, anywhere to hide.
Moon goddess, please, kill me now.
