“I don't think this is a good idea,” I said as I yelled to Lex and Nik from across the field. I began to stretch, it had been a while since my training with my Alpha and his Beta. They had years of practice over me, and I was nervous about picking up my training again.
It had only been a few days since I woke back from the dead. Not only the fact that my mating bond with Nik was so strong, both the Alpha and Beta wanted to give it a test run. I was still getting a handle on the new abilities that the Moon Goddess had given me. It was clear that even though my memories were cloudy, I was chosen to keep this pack protected.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Lexi shouting at me from the other side of the clearing.
“What are you afraid of, Zo,” Lex chuckled as he removed his shirt. “I promise that I’ll go easy on you…for the first five seconds.”
I rolled my eyes. Show off. We were in the clearing of the Pitt, and he was showing off for his potential. While I was not around, Lex and his potential mate Desiree had gotten close. I could see why Jade was adamant about coming down from the mountain, but she came in support of me.
Desiree was gorgeous, to say the least, from what Lex had told me. Her black hair was tied in a high ponytail and she was wearing tight athletic gear. She had been visiting the village for a while since my burial. Nik explained to me that her father had been respectful during the mourning stage, but he was also adamant about his daughter not being able to see her intended mate.
Since the Moon Goddess had gifted him his intended, he has been happy about it but at the same time he seemed on edge. I had yet to be introduced to her, but with my powers coming into play, I was not looking forward to it.
I looked around frowning that there were a few people that were not accounted for. I knew that Alinta was on a mission for Nik and would not be back in a few days. Jade was in the mountains training with the High Priestess. She also made it clear that she was not ready to meet Lex’s mate. She and I agreed that we would meet her together as Luna and High Priestess.
I felt someone against my skin and flinched as Nik kissed my neck. “What’s the matter? You seem on edge.”
“Where is Dire?” I asked, still searching for the man. I knew that he would not miss me training for anything in the world.
He glared at me question. “You looking for another wolf, little fox?”
“Don’t get jealous. I figured he would be the first to make fun of my zombie revival act.”
Lex walked towards us and I knew he heard the conversation. I saw a brief look that the Alpha and Beta shared.
“So where is he?”
The two men shrugged at my question, but Nik answered me. “He has requested a few days off. He did not say why, but I allowed it.”
I nodded. Jade had mentioned that he started acting weird around my death, but I figured that he would be better. As I walked into the circle, I saw both my mate and best friend looking at one another. I figured they were communicating through mind link. I smiled when I slid into Lex’s mind. We found that I could enter Nik’s mind so easily, either due to the mating bond or my powers growing. So I wanted to test to see if I could reach others.
So I shift and run at her.
And I will fall back and grab her from the rear.
Figures the mating bond is still fresh you don’t want anyone touching her.
Nik growled.
I chuckled. “Be nice Nik, your jealous side is showing.” When he turned I saw his eyes bleed black. He was serious now.
“Are you ready, little fox,” his canines grew.
I gulped as I nodded. I took a deep breath and kept my eyes focused on Nik. Like clockwork, Lex quickly shifted and ran at me. I smiled as I projected a barrier in front of me. Lex slammed into the barrier nipping and growling at me.
“What’s the matter, Lexi? Don’t like the element of surprise?” I laughed as I turned around to see my mate try to grab me. I jumped out of his reach, but unexpectedly, I felt myself lifted from the ground. Nik had anticipated my movements and grabbed the front of my shirt.
“Nicely done you read our thoughts.” I wrapped my legs around his arm and projected a barrier around my body and pushed it further. The sheer force caused Nik to stumble back a few steps. He let me go, and I fell flat on my tail.
Lex shifted back and was shouting. “How did she do that?”
“She can read our thoughts even if our shields are up,” Nik said, as he smiled at me.
Lex shook his head, “And you did not think that was something you could have mentioned before she pushed a barrier up in my face.”
I tried to hold in my laughter as Lex snorted at me. “And you,” he said, pointing at me. “You are becoming more like a Luna every second.” He smiled.
“Thanks, Lexi.” I smiled as I looked around the area. I saw his potential mate staring blankly at me. I saw Victor and the others watching the training in awe.
“Should I be worried?” I asked as Nik came towards me. He followed my gaze towards the others.
“They are still processing that their Luna was brought back to them. They still love you, little fox. Don’t overthink it.” He said as he kissed my forehead.
I looked at my people realizing that they had all grown to trust me. I did not need to worry about them, fearing my doubts. I was holding the mantle of Luna and was ready for what was coming next.
