The hospital always managed to make her feel uncomfortable. Watching family members pacing around, waiting for a doctor to tell them their loved one is going to be okay. It was nerve-wracking to see. What would she do if she met a family member of someone she had killed? What would she tell them? Hey, sorry I butchered your son, promise I won't kill the other one. Let's hope I never have to find that out.
A quick smile at the passing nurse before Alex opens the door to room 126. Gavriel's eyes were open for once. He looked at her with those light hazel-green eyes. The color of his eyes was the only part that separated their facial features. If Alex had gotten her older brother's eye-color instead of her gray-blue ones, they would practically look completely identical. "Haven't seen you for quite some time sis'. Have you been avoiding me?" Gavriel asked, smiling at her weakly. "Yes" Alex thought. "No, of course, I haven't been avoiding you" Alex responded. 'Oh, you are getting really good at lying! After your first kill you just stammered like an i***t but now little one, you have mastered this dark art!'- "Shut up"- 'humans truly do evolve, I see. HAHAHAHA'. Gavriel was staring at her, surprised. Could he have heard Kainian? No, that's not possible. "I haven't said anything. Alex are you okay?" Gavriel asked. It wasn't until then that Alex realized she had been talking out loud. "Crap", she thought- 'HAHAHA, you must learn how to use your inner voice, little one. Communicating with me using your mouth is only going to get you thrown in a mental institution'. "I know that", Alex thought. Gavriel was still staring at her, the concern clearly written all over his face.
Before she could muster up a ridiculous explanation, the nurse from before returned. "Hello, Alexandra, would you mind me interrupting for a few seconds? It is time for Gavriel here to take his medicine" the nurse said. Alex was grateful, this was the perfect excuse for her to leave. Gavriel's meds always made him tired so leaving to let him get some rest wasn't really avoiding him, right? She walked over to him and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "I just wanted to see how you were doing but I've gotta go now," she said. "What, already? You just got her sis'!" he exclaimed. She shrugged. "I've got a lecture in Swedish in like half an hour" she said. Gavriel shook his head and smiled. "Good luck and come by when you can okay? I miss you, you know" he said. After one last kiss on his forehead Alex was out of room 126 and soon she was outside of the hospital. Her uneasy feeling disappeared the minute she stepped outside. She threw a quick glance at the hospital before turning her heel, walking away.
"Again, people! Jag har gått vilse, kan du snälla hjälpa mig?". Everybody repeated after him. "Good, now what did that phrase mean?" professor Daniel said, looking around the grand auditorium. Professor Daniel was one of the most dreadful professors Alex had ever encountered. He was a short little fucker that someone always managed to ruin her day. Alex's father had been Daniel's professor. Apparently, her father had been very hard on Daniel and now the fucker was taking it out on her.
Professor Daniel's gaze was still wandering around before the started to slowly settle on the row she was sitting on. "Please don't pick me, please don't pick me, please don't"- "Miss Foximore?"- "f**k" - "Care to translate the phrase we just learned?" he said and pointed to the whiteboard behind him. 'Wouldn't it be fun if we used his blood to write the answer on the wall? Oh, yes! Please, can we do it? Nobody here likes him, killing him is practically public service HAHAHAHA oh yes, yes please can we rip him apart, heart, start, body parts, blood, kill, kill, HAHAHAHAH'. Alex shook her head viciously, trying to silence Kainian. "Is that a no I can't or no I won't, miss Foximore?" he asked. Alex stopped and swallowed. A deep inhale and slow exhale later, she got up and walked down to the whiteboard. Professor Daniel handed her the marker and she quickly scribbled the translation on the board. "Now read it out loud so those of us that can't read your handwriting can understand as well" professor Daniel said. "Son of a b***h". She sighed and turned to the students in the auditorium. "I'm lost, can you please help me" she said at the top of her voice. A few students nodded and made a quick note in their books. Professor Daniel grabbed her shoulder and gestured with his free hand for her to go back up to her seat. Resisting the urge to grab his hand and ripping off his arm, Alex went back to her seat.
'HAHAHAHA Oh! Yes, yes, he's our next one, isn't he?'. "No, he's not" she thought. With the lecture almost being over, Professor Daniel cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "Now, the next time I call one of you down I'd like for you to do so immediately and not just sit there like an i***t. Miss Foximore I understand that your brother being treated in the hospital must have an effect on you, but that is no excuse to space out during my lectures. Last year you used your father's death as an excuse to skip some of my lectures. How about you stop crying for attention and get your head out of your ass. Focus on my lectures, does that sound like something you can do, miss Foximore?" professor Daniel said. The auditorium went completely silent. Alex stared at him and he stared back. The bastard was actually waiting for her to answer. 'HAHAHAHA oh little one, I am bathing in your rage! Don't resist it! He needs to die! Do you not agree little one?'. Alex answer came out loud a few seconds later "Yes" she said. 'HAHAHAHA, YES, YES, YES, YES!'. Professor Daniel grinned and nodded, dismissing everyone. "What do we need to get?" she thought. 'Oh, ah! This one's going to be fun! Don't fret, little one. We'll make this one suffer more than the others. Oh, and the wall thing, we have to do the wall thing!!! HAHAHAHA'. Alex walked out of the auditorium.
"Wow, professor asshat really went after you this time" Max said angrily. Alex was sitting in the library with her friends, working on their group essay. Max pulled her into a hug. "He can't keep treating you like that, we need to report that fucker!" he exclaimed, holding her close. Max was one of her oldest and most cherished friends. Him and Ash, his twin brother, had always cared for her like their own little sister, even though they were barely two months older than her. Ash was sitting on her other side, stroking her back and letting his brother do the talking. Hailey was typing rapidly on the computer a few chairs away from her, fully focusing on their essay. Kainian had been quiet for a long time, probably planning how many ways to torture professor Daniel. Occasional glimpses of pieces of metal and security cameras kept popping into her head. She was sure that they were Kainian's thoughts and not her own.
Hailey sighed loudly, closing her computer. "Ugh, this is so frustrating!" she yelled. The boys and Alex looked at her. "What's wrong?" Max asked. Hailey glared at him. "What's wrong!? What's wrong is that I can't figure out the last damn question and I'm paired together with a bunch of idiots and Alex" she replied. Alex snorted to suppress her laughter. Hailey had a temper but she somehow always managed to not insult Alex. It was really cute actually. Ash got up and went to sit next to Hailey. He opened her computer and read the question out loud: "You have one of the fastest trains in the world at your disposal. You must drive the train on one of two rails, but there's a catch. On one of the rails, there are ten, to you strangers, tied up. On the other rail, you have your family. The train is speeding down and the breaks are broken, which rail do you choose? Keep in mind that answering the question with neither will give everyone in your group a failed grade. Good luck!". Ash and Hailey began discussion the question and a few minutes later Max felt the need to add his thoughts. Alex couldn't move. She knew what Kainian was planning on doing.
It was past midnight. Almost a week had passed since the incident in the auditorium and it was finally time to put Kainian's plan in action. The cold night breeze sent a shiver through her body. She grabbed the handle and opened the door to the bar and was met with an immediate wave of heat. The bar smelled of beer, overly masculine cologne and sweat. Of course, he spent his weekends here, where else would they serve a bastard like him? he was sitting alone in one of the chairs in front of the bar, several empty glasses next to him. With a slight smirk, Alex walked up to professor Daniel.
"Hello Daniel" she said, taking the seat next to him. Daniel looked up, surprised someone had approached him. he was having trouble focusing on her face, a likely result of all those drinks. He smiled at her and with that, she knew he didn't recognize her. The bastard never smiled at her like that. 'HAHAHA! This is perfect!! Take him with us, take him with us now! Let's take him to the rail, hail, scale, fail we can't fail, take him, now, now, now HAHAHA!'. Alex let out a sigh and put her acting skills into action. She could feel the gag reflex already acting up. f**k you and your stupid plan, Kainian she thought. Kainian was laughing hysterically, the excitement of what was about to happen finally getting to it.
"Daniel baby, I think you've had one too many. Let me take you home dear" she said, suppressing a gag. The Bartender walks over to their side. "Do you know this man, miss?" the bartender asks her. "I really hate this plan" Alex thought. 'HAHAHA do it, it is a brilliant plan, scan, ram, jam, break, take take take him away! HAHAHA!', "Ugh, fine" she thought. "Yes I do, Daniel's my husband" she said. "I will savor each second after you're gone you know", she thought to Kainian to which he laughed hysterically. The bartender studied them for a short while longer before nodding and returning to give a female nearby a refill. Alex put on quite a show: the embarrassed wife, having to carry her drunk husband home from the bar. As soon as they got outside Kainian chanted in a language Alex didn't know. It didn't sound like any human language at least. A purple light shone through the windows of the bar, so bright that Alex, standing on the outside, had to cover her eyes. "What did you do?" she thought to Kainian. His dark laughter of satisfaction echoed in her head. 'I covered up our tracks, little one. Now go I want to make this one suffer already, steady, heavy, heavy the burden of a sinner, thinner, skinnier, winner, dinner, sinner, sinner, hail the sinner! HAHAHA!'
This fucker is heavy Alex thought. Kainian chanted again in that strange language and suddenly Alex was feeling so much lighter. "If you can use that weird magic s**t why can't you just use it to rip my soul out and get done with it, once and for all?" she asked out loud, irritated. 'Sweet, dumb, little one. Do you think it could possibly be that easy? And for the record, I'm not some pathetic sorcerer' Kainian said. "Will you ever tell me what you are?" Alex thought. Kainian grinned. 'In time, little one, in time'. Alex decided to not ask any further, Kainian wouldn't give her any real answers. The fucker was getting heavy again.
