It had been more than six months since Karla ran away from home. When Alexa told me my daughter had disappeared, I lost my world. I should have told her the truth from the beginning; finding out about her origins the way she did, had cost me my dear Karla's presence.
Her father and I did everything to protect her from her uncle's wrath. I even pretended to be someone else for so many years, hiding my true identity. There was no way I would let that evil man harm my child.
