Slowly but surely, Karla came back to her senses. She did not realise that Dylan held her tightly in his arms as he tried to help her breathe.
She remembered choking on her water when Blue announced that he had chosen her to become his second mother.
When she finally felt better, she realised her head was on Dylan's chest and her hands around his muscular arms. She pulled back, embarrassed, and he pulled her closer to him again. Her body trembled, and she tried to suppress the need to touch his body again.
She could hear his heart beating rapidly in his chest, and she felt his hot breath on her head.
She looked up at him, confused, and met with his concerned eyes.
