Chapter 1
It was a dark night. Candles on the table were burning. The woman got out of bed. She couldn't help but scoff as she looked at those remnants of pretty candles. She took out a document and a pen from the drawer and gave them to the man. Her voice was very soft. "In case you forget, why don't you sign it now? I know you have an early business trip tomorrow." Normally, one would think that it might just be a crucial document with no exceptions. However, a few words on the document were difficult to overlook. -Divorce Agreement. Robert Snow also got out of bed. He was as calm and indifferent as usual. He signed the paper after skimming it. "I'll give you another $500 million." He said indifferently. Page Lynd blinked for a second and said with a smile, "I don't need it. We both agreed from the start that I will leave with nothing." "You've been with me for ten years, which is worth $500 million." Page felt some touching to hear that. Ten years had flown by in a flash. Time does fly. They were married under a contract. She became Robert Snow's fiancée after being brought to his home when she was 12 years old. The first thing Robert said to her was that he couldn't be with her. She must sign a contract and pledge to leave the Snow Family after 10 years if she wanted to remain there. During the ten years, they married and feigned love for each other in front of their families. However, they could only be strangers outdoors. According to the agreement, she was not allowed to attend events where he was present. Now that ten years had passed, everything would finally end. Page stopped thinking about it. She put the divorce papers down and intended to take a shower, but Robert stopped her. After spending many years together, Page immediately knew that he wanted to make love with her again. Page awoke later than usual the following morning, and Robert had already left. The signed divorce agreement was still on the table. At this point, her phone rang. It was Arno, Robert's assistant. "Mrs. Snow, are you available today? Mr. Snow instructed me to handle the divorce settlement." Arno politely enquired. "I'm available. You can come over now." Page dressed and packed her things around an hour later. She then waited for Arno while sitting on the couch. Arno arrived soon and took out another contract. The contract Robert had signed stated that he would give her an additional $500 million, as he had previously stated. "Mr. Snow said that this is a formal agreement. Please sign it." "No, I'm still going to leave with nothing. Please have it notarized." Page said with an indifferent smile. Arno was shocked and thought, "Is Mrs. Snow insane? She doesn't even want so much money." Having worked for Robert for many years, Arno knew that Mrs. Snow had been at home all the time and did not work. For his information, she should not be able to support herself. If she rejects the money and leaves with nothing, what will she do with her life? Can she support herself on her own? He couldn't help but say, "Mrs. Snow, are you sure you don't want the $500 million?" "I said I wouldn't take the $500 million. Also, now that I'm divorced, you should call me Miss Lynd." Arno believed that she would be reluctant to leave, or she would be overjoyed to get the money. But the truth is she was so calm and even ready to go with her packed suitcase. "Miss Lynd, why not consider it over again? After all, the amount is substantial." At this time her phone rang, Page took a look at it and replied to Arno, "No need to think about it. I got something else to do and I have to go." Arno was left there, frozen, while Page went with her suitcase. After a while, Arno's phone rang. It was Robert. "Is everything done?" Robert's voice jolted him back into focus. He replied, "Almost done." "I can give her this villa if she doesn't want to leave." He paused, “Anyway, she deserves more for being with me for a very long time." Arno replied awkwardly, "Miss Lynd didn't accept any compensation." "Miss Lynd? You called her that already?" Robert said seriously. "Miss Lynd asked me to call her that." Arno nervously swallowed. He could feel that Mr. Snow wasn't happy about that name. He thought Mr. Snow might say something else, but the phone had already gone off the hook. After leaving the house, Page got into the car waiting outside. "Boss! Congratulations on your mission success and getting back to being single!" The man in the car gave her a bouquet and said gallantly. Page still looked indifferent as if it were her natural state. "Thanks." She replied to Corey. Corey, her secret subordinate, cautiously said, "We will hold a huge party tonight. Would you like to join us?" "No, I'm busy." Page turned him down. "Okay. I thought you would like it. After all, you never came after you got married..." Corey shrugged. He talked hesitantly. "Please don't bring up my previous marriage, which ended, again." Page said and glance at him. "I just don't like parties, which are a waste of time. I prefer to invest my time in something else." "That's good." Corey was relieved, "I thought you were used to it ......" Corey quickly stopped when he realized he was about to bring up her previous marriage again. It didn't concern Page. She had spent ten years with Robert, which was inevitable to mention. But she didn't want it to happen again. Page stayed with the Snow family for so long only because she had a secret mission to do. There was nothing more to be missed now that the mission was complete. When Page recalled Robert's stony face, she quietly laughed. Because he was both attractive and high-ranking, she did not feel like being at a disadvantage. For them, a peaceful breakup was the best ending.
