"What time was it?"
"Maybe 7 p.m. I had a late class and went over there afterward. I was supposed to get a mailing out to our donors. Then I heard the raised voices and stopped to listen."
"Who did you recognize? Just Mark?"
Timothy nodded; his eyes still closed. "He was angry because Janet was going on Eric the Red's show. He didn't think she would do it and was mad that Eric would let her. One of the other guys said Eric would do anything that brought him more listeners, and if they thought he was a fellow traveler, they were deluding themselves."
Got that right, Mac thought. "And then?" he prompted.
"Mark started to argue about Eric, and another man interrupted. 'It doesn't matter,' he said. 'She won't be a problem after tonight. John's promised to see to it.'"
