Breakfast

{Noelle’s POV} When I woke up the sun was pouring in from outside, the soft grumbling of a light snore filling my ears, and the warmth of another person still partially under me. I raised up, rubbing my eyes seeing, Silas still asleep beside me. It took me a moment to realize.. we fell asleep.. we stayed there together all night.. his family were probably up already, worried, and wondering where he is, or worse, and they have the wrong idea about us. They knew he was coming down here last night.. do they think that we spent the night together, together? Dread filled me for a moment, before I turned looking to Silas. He looked so sweet, so peaceful when he slept. His eyes were closed, and a small smile was painted across his lips, he must be having a good dream. I couldn’t decide what to do, should I wake him, or let him sleep in for once? I decided to get up, and message Adelaide. “Hey, Silas fell asleep down here on my couch, I’m not sure if I should wake him or just let him sleep, he seems exhausted.” I texted, before sitting down at the island. Soon she messaged back. “Just let him sleep if that’s okay, he’s been working long days, he probably needs a good nights rest.” I sat down my phone, and walked to the couch, grabbing the blanket that had begun to fall, and tucking it up around him. He shifted slightly in his sleep, before settling back in. “Mmm.. Noelle..” he grumbled. I felt my face flush as I took off back towards the kitchen. I decided to make some coffee, and breakfast, so I got out the dishes I would need as quietly as possible and began making eggs, bacon, biscuits, and gravely, with coffee. I cooked up breakfast and poured myself a cup of coffee, I put in my cream and sugar, taking a big gulp of it. I can’t believe we fell asleep.. all snuggled up together.. in my house.. alone.. what will his mother think? What will Daphne and Owen say? What if Emmaline begins questioning things.. it’s not as though he and I are together, we just got busy talking, and it got late.. so we fell asleep. That was all it was, but I couldn’t help but wonder if they would believe that. I sighed, getting the bacon off the stove, before making a few over easy eggs. I pulled the biscuits from the oven, and started on my gravy. Soon I heard movement from the couch behind me. It started subtly before quite suddenly he was jumping up. “Sh**, we fell asleep!” He shouted. “Calm down Silas..” I began, but he cut me off. “I can’t calm down, my family will be worried sick! I need to..” he started turning for the door. I sighed. “Silas! Come here!” I shouted, getting his attention, he walked towards the kitchen and I placed his plate of breakfast down in front of him, with a cup of black coffee. “Stop panicking, I messaged your mom and told her that you fell asleep down here on my couch last night. She told me to let you sleep in, so I did, I also made you breakfast, because both of us have a long day ahead of us. We have chores to do, so eat up, and please, stop freaking out!” He looked down at the plate, then back up at me. “You.. you messaged mama.. and let me sleep in.. and made me breakfast?” He asked, looking back down at the plate. “Of course, you were exhausted, and I also didn’t want your family to worry.. in fact.. I think I see Emmaline running down the hill right now..” I said, pointing outside. I walked to the door, unlocking it, and opening it just in time for her to run in. “Daddy, daddy!” She said, running past me to Silas. She dove into his arms and hugged him tightly. “You’re here early this morning!” She giggled, looking down at his plate. “That looks good!” I shut the door, walking back to the kitchen and fixed up a plate for Emmaline. “Do you like milk, or orange juice with your breakfast?” I asked her. “Orange juice please!” She smiled, taking a bite of the biscuits and gravy. “Mmm! This is good!” I poured her a glass of orange juice, setting it down in front of her, before fixing up my own plate. “I’m glad you like it, eat up Silas!” I said, pointing to his food. He was too busy watching Emmaline with a big grin on his face. “Thanks for breakfast Noelle.” He smiled, before digging in. “She’s right, this is good!” He said, taking another big bite. I giggled. “Well, I’m glad y’all like it. I’ve got to get started on my chores after we eat..” I said, looking outside. “Absolutely not!” Silas said, causing me to look at him. “What do you mean?” I asked. “You just went through a traumatic incident, there’s no way you’re doing your chores today. I’m giving Daphne my chores up at our Ranch, and I’ll be doing the chores down here for the next few days.” He said, taking another bite. “Silas, really, I can do my chores.” I insisted, taking another sip of my coffee and setting it down. “I know that I’ve got a concussion, but most of my work isn’t strenuous or anything so it should be fine! I’m fine!” He shook his head, shooting me a look, one that confused my body, and muddled my mind. “Noelle.. I told you, you’re not doing your chores, I am! You are going to sit here, and relax just like that doctor ordered!” He snapped at me, before turning to Emmaline. “Emmy can keep you company.”
