Meanwhile,Nicholas grabbed the dirty bag and poured its contents on the table as he spoke!Initially, they couldn't understand where his arrogance came from, but they were astonished when they saw a stack of money falling like a waterfall from the bag!
A deafening silence engulfed the living room as they stared at the money that gradually scattered on the floor.
"How can it be..." Georgina gasped and looked at Nicholas in disbelief.
"T-that money, is that five million?" Esther blurted. She walked over and scanned all the money. The anger on her face faded at the sight of it.
Blaire and Gwen's eyes almost popped out of their pockets. They couldn't believe someone like Nicholas could fork out that sum of money.
"You've seen it. Come on, call me Sir," Nicholas remarked.
Hearing his words, Blaire snapped out of her senses and sneered. Her eyes squinted as she spat, "Tsk. Do you think I don't know that Gina gave you two hundred dollars every day? I bet all this money came from an unclean source, doesn't it?"
When her words fell, Georgina recovered from her shock. Without a word, she strode toward her husband, grabbed his arm, and dragged him to her room.
Closing the door, she immediately said, "Tell me, where the hell did you get that money, Nicholas? Is it really from illegal means?"
"Don't worry. It's clean. I borrowed it from a friend," Nicholas explained with a smile.
Although he was now the president of Zion Entertainment, he didn't want to reveal it early because if he did, she might not believe him, or perhaps she would say he was only lucky.
"Friends? Since when did you have friends?" she retorted anxiously. "We've been married for so long, but I didn't know you had friends."
A wry smile tugged at the corner of Nicholas' lips. His heart clenched in pain as he remembered how his friends disappeared when he had been driven out of his family.
"Well, he used to be my classmate, and we seldom see each other, so it's only normal you haven't seen him. This money is enough to start my own business, but you can use it for now," he replied, then left the room without waiting for her to respond.
Georgina bit her lip and whispered, "I'll pay you back as soon as possible."
Sighing, she left the bedroom and returned to the living room. She looked around and realized her two friends had already left.
"Tsk. What a party pooper. She didn't even call me Sir," Nicolas muttered, but enough for her to hear. He was sitting on the sofa, playing a mobile game.
Days passed, and almost everyone in Warlington was restless. The sudden change of management of the biggest entertainment company threw them off guard. Nevertheless, some of them were happy, thinking they could finally cooperate with Zion Entertainment, but to their surprise, they were chased out. Even the former partners of Zion Entertainment weren't spared.
Despite the embarrassment they had gone through, all those companies didn't want to give up. Since Zion Entertainment didn't have any partners, if any of them could clinch cooperation with them, they could monopolize this profitable company.
Those seeking cooperation were Warlington's leading families, and thus, no one had expected that a second-rate family like Clark would also eye Zion Entertainment.
They had sent Ryan Clark as their representative, but he was also chased out. Despite that, the Clark family refused to give up and sent Georgina Clark.
Those affluent families that received the news jeered at the Clark family's shamelessness. They waited to see Georgina make a fool of herself, but surprisingly, Zion Entertainment agreed to cooperate, throwing everyone into bafflement.
The news spread throughout Warlington like wildfire. No one could believe that the leading company in their city would cooperate with the Clarks.
Meanwhile, when Georgina went home, she was still on cloud nine. Besides feeling happy, she was baffled. She hadn't met Zion Entertainment's president yet, but the president's secretary told her to come back tomorrow for the contract signing.
Because of her unexpected success, Barbara, her grandmother, was ecstatic and booked the entire Paramount Hotel—the most famous yet costly hotel in Warlington to celebrate.
Barbara informed all Clark's family members that they must be present, then she invited different affluent families to show off their prowess.
When Georgina arrived at the hotel, she became the center of attention. She sat at the table near her grandmother, which she thought was an honor.
Nicholas trailed after her and sat beside her, but his seat hadn't yet been hot when someone scolded him from behind.
"Get up! Is this a place for you to sit? Hurry and give your seat to Miss Wright," Ryan intoned coldly.
Nicholas frowned, but he didn't move. Not far away from him, Esther saw his reaction and looked at Ryan. Her eyes dilated when she recognized the woman standing next to him.
She sprang to her feet and bellowed, "What are you gawking for, Nicholas? Hurry and give up your seat!"
Esther knew they couldn't offend this woman. She was the guest Barbara had invited, the eldest daughter of the Wright family, Louise Wright.
The Wrights were one of the longstanding families in this city. They had been in the antiques business for generations, and their wealth could amount to at least two billion.
Meanwhile, Louise ignored them as she stared intently at Georgina's feet. She only came here because Barbara invited her. She thought nothing would pique her interest, but she was astonished when she saw the stunning pair of high heels on Georgina's feet.
'Isn't those crystal love shoes?' she inwardly exclaimed.
It was well-known that she liked crystal love, but it was a pity she didn't have it. There were only ninety-nine pairs of these shoes globally, and even though her family was wealthy, they didn't have enough connections to buy this pair of shoes.
"Are you deaf? I told you to move away!" Ryan blustered.
Ignoring him, Nicholas knocked his fingers on the table and looked away.
When Esther saw Nicholas intentionally ignoring them, she was enraged. "Nicholas! Don't ignore us!"
Inwardly, she was anxious. If Nicholas offended Louise, they couldn't afford the consequences. Even though he lent her daughter five million, in Esther's mind, he was still a loser. He was just lucky to be friends with some rich guy.
Georgina, who had been silent since earlier, finally spoke. "Why don't you give way?"
"Okay." Nicholas smiled. Since his wife had already spoken, he stood up and went to the table behind them.
Seeing him walk away, Ryan chuckled. He smiled at Louise and pulled the chair for her. "You can now sit, Miss Wright."
Glancing at Nicholas, he sneered and added, "That person just now is our Clark family's son-in-law. He's just a freeloader, the same as our grandpa. He's just an i***t, so don't mind him, okay?"
Louise hummed in agreement and sat down. Her attention was once again attracted to crystal love.
'It's beautiful.' She sighed and thought every woman's demeanor would improve when they wore these shoes.
She looked at Georgina and couldn't help but ask, "Excuse me, Miss Clark. Where did you buy these heels?"
Her question overjoyed Georgina. Louise was famous for her beauty and wealth, but now this woman looked at her with envy, so how could Georgina not be happy?
Smiling, Georgina responded, "A friend gave it to me."
"Then, can I trouble your friend buying me a pair too?" Louise asked. "Don't worry. I won't ask your friend for anything. I'll pay double the price."
Although her words weren't loud, the people sitting close to their table heard her. They stared at Louise in shock.
A single pair of crystal love was thirty million! If she doubled the price, it would be an astonishing amount! It seemed that Wright's wealth was as deep as the ocean.
As Louise and Georgina, considered the best women in this city, sat together, they were pretty eye-catching, especially Louise, wearing a short skirt that accentuated her slender legs, attracting men's attention.
"Come on, Gina. Call your friend and ask him," Esther butted in when she saw her daughter's hesitant expression. This was an excellent opportunity to make the Wright family owe them a favor.
Biting her lip, Georgina nodded, whipped out her phone, and dialed Daniel's number.
