🌒 THE BOY NAME "DANRIV"
The afternoon sun hung low over Sandoval Village. The air was thick with the acrid scent of charred timber, wet ash, and the metallic tang of dried blood, bitter remnants of the rogue pack that had torn through the northern borders the night before. Inside the stone-walled courtyard of the Sandoval family estate, the atmosphere was suffocatingly tense. Alpha King Darius stood in the center of the yard, his massive silhouette dominating the space. He wore black tactical armor, the obsidian surface marred by fresh silver gashes from the previous night's skirmish. His presence alone seemed to warp the air, heavy with a suffocating, predatory aura that forced lesser wolves to lower their gazes. His golden-amber eyes, burning with suppressed fury, were locked onto Captain Kenneth, the seasoned leader of the Sandoval Family defense forces. "The border wards were reinforced just two moon cycles ago, Kenneth," Darius’s voice was a low, vibrating growl that shook the windowpanes of the nearby captain’s house. "Yet, dozens of rogues bypassed them without triggering a single alarm. They didn't just stumble into Sandoval Village. They had coordinates. They had timing." Captain Kenneth said, He is a scarred warrior who had survived three pack wars, stood with his spine rigidly straight, though a beads of cold sweat rolled down his temple. "Your Majesty, my men patrolled the perimeter every hour. The wards were intact until the moment the breach occurred. It was as if the magic simply... dissolved when they stepped across." "Magic does not simply dissolve, Captain," Darius snapped, stepping closer. The ground beneath his heavy combat boots seemed to tremble. "Last night was supposed to be the formal announcement of my union. Gladice Atiena was introduced to the kingdom as the future Queen, and within minutes, my people were slaughtered at your gates. This was not a random raid. It was an execution of disrespect. A challenge to the throne." Kenneth bowed his head lower, his fists clenching at his sides. "We are investigating the internal logs, Alpha King. If there is a traitor within the Sandoval ranks who lowered the barriers, I will present their head to you myself." Before Darius could reply, a sudden commotion erupted at the iron gates of the courtyard. "Hey! Stop! Kid, get back here!" The harsh, metallic clatter of armor echoed across the stones as a small, desperate figure burst through the perimeter line. It was a ten-year-old boy, his clothes torn and stained with soot, his breathing ragged and frantic. His name was Danriv. Danriv didn't look back at the adult warriors who scrambled to catch him. His small, scraped knees pumped furiously, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird. His wide, terrified eyes were locked onto the imposing figure of the Alpha King. He had to reach him. He had to tell him what he saw before they hushed it up. "Alpha King! Please! Your Majesty!" Danriv screamed, his voice cracking with prepubescent terror and exhaustion. "Catch that brat! Secure the perimeter!" a royal guard shouted, his voice booming with authority. Two tall elite warriors, clad in the royal crest of the crescent moon and broadsword, moved with supernatural speed. They intercepted Danriv just five feet from the steps of the captain's house, where Darius and Kenneth stood. One warrior grabbed the boy by the collar of his oversized, dirt-streaked tunic, lifting him clean off his feet, while the other stepped forward with his hand resting heavily on the hilt of his sword, forming an impenetrable wall of muscle and steel. "Let me go! Please, you don't understand! I need to talk to the Alpha!" Danriv thrashed wildly, his small fists slamming uselessly against the warrior’s impenetrable forearm armor. "They're going to kill them! It wasn't just rogues! Please!" "Quiet, boy! The Alpha King is conducting royal business. Interrupting a war council is punishable by confinement. Return to your elders." the warrior holding him growled, his voice devoid of sympathy. "No! My elders are dead! They killed them last night!" Danriv sobbed, though his eyes remained fiercely defiant, refusing to look away from the steps. "Alpha King Darius! Please listen to me!" On the steps, Darius raised a single, leather-gloved hand. The gesture was small, but it instantly froze every warrior in the courtyard. The oppressive weight of his Alpha aura flared for a fraction of a second, demanding absolute silence. Even Danriv stopped thrashing, choked by the sheer, crushing authority radiating from the Lycan monarch. Darius looked down at the boy. To a ten-year-old, the King looked like an ancient god of war, cold, unyielding, and terrifyingly beautiful. Beside him, Captain Kenneth frowned, recognizing the boy. "That is Danriv, Your Majesty. His parents were part of the northern watch. They... they did not survive the night. The boy is likely traumatized, speaking in riddles from fear." Kenneth whispered hurriedly. Darius didn't break his gaze from Danriv. He walked down the stone steps slowly, each step echoing with an ominous finality. The royal guards immediately stepped back, lowering their heads, though the warrior holding Danriv gently set the boy back onto his feet, keeping a cautious hand near his shoulder. Darius knelt down on one knee in front of the child, bringing himself to eye level. The contrast was stark, a huge battle-hardened warlord covered in the blood of his enemies, and a frail, bruised orphan shivering in the morning breeze. "You shout loud enough to wake the ancestors, young one," Darius said, his voice no longer roaring, but possessing a deep, gravelly resonance that demanded undivided attention. "You claim it was not just rogues who attacked your home last night. Speak clearly. What did you see?" Danriv swallowed hard, wiping a mixture of dirt and tears from his nose with the back of his sleeve. He looked into the King's amber eyes and found a strange, terrifying comfort there.. the ultimate protector of their species. "I was hiding under the floorboards of the watchtower, Your Majesty," Danriv whispered, his voice trembling but clear enough for every werewolf in the courtyard to hear. "My father told me to hide when the howling started. I watched through the cracks. The rogues didn't break the wards. A man walked up to the boundary pillar. He wore a silver crest, the same crest as the Queen's guard. He touched the stone, muttered something, and the light went out. Then he opened the gate and let them in." A collective, sharp intake of breath rippled through the gathered warriors.Captain Kenneth’s face went entirely pale. "That... that is impossible. The Queen-soon-to-marry's guard? Gladice's personal detail has been in the palace precinct all week!" Darius slowly stood tall. His features had completely hardened into a mask of pure ice, but his eyes blazed like twin suns. The implication was catastrophic. If the future Queen’s inner circle was involved, the attack wasn't just a challenge to his rule, it was a betrayal born from the very heart of his inner circle. "Kenneth," Darius said, his voice dangerously calm, the kind of quiet that precedes a devastating storm. "Take the boy inside. Protect him with your life. If a single hair on his head is harmed, I will raze this entire village to the ground." Darius turned his back to the house, looking toward the horizon where his capital city lay. "The investigation is no longer confined to the borders. We go to the palace."
