What a rubbish day. To start with I got next to no sleep last night, so when the alarm finally went off I opted to stay in bed for an extra half hour and skip having a shower. I just wanted the happy cosiness of bed for as long as possible. Once I did get up I quickly got ready for work and stepped outside. I went from bad start to worst start. It was STILL raining. Yes this week the weather hates me and this was more than just a drizzle as I made my way over to the bike. I could tell this was just going to be a wonderful ride in. Because it has been raining so much at this point, the roads weren't just wet, but almost flooded in places. This had me driving even slower over some parts of the trip. Aquaplaning is pretty bad in a car, I'm fairly confident that it's worse on a motorbike. Thankfully there was no one behind me to complain. Into work and it started off well. There was some confusion over who was actually meant to be on the deli station, either me or a college called Chris. Chris is a really nice woman and as a rule fairly easy to work with. She knows what she's doing on the section and is very able, as I am, to just get on with the job. However, also like me, she likes to set things up in particular ways and have things in particular places. This made getting everything ready for the day a little tricky while we didn't know who was in charge as we both kept moving things. Finally we were told that Chris was to help with the waiters by getting their drink orders sorted which left me free to run deli. Once that confusion was sorted out the rest of the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon went smoothly. Whereas the other day I was expecting a pile of orders and didn't get them, today I was expecting a steady flow but not the build up and yet a build up we had. Thankfully Chris joined me back on when the orders started to get too many, but then we ran out of jacket potatoes. Then I screwed up the three we did have so we needed even more. Just before the new orders came in I'd put some more on to cook, but these were big, chunky potatoes, which took twice as long to cook than normal. This was getting close to closing time too so we, or maybe just me, was panicking because I liked to have the full shut down time to ensure that everything was ready and clean for the next day. Finally I had to go on break and leave Chris with the still cooking potatoes and the, in theory, last few orders. I got back to find yet more orders had come in, which at this point was a little ridiculous since we should have been closed for half an hour. But Chris was on it and had got them sorted, finishing the last one as I walked back in. We began closing down while not entirely sure we were meant to, but if we didn't we'd never get it done. Finally we got confirmation that we could actually close and got stuck in. Between the two of us we did everything with time to spare. I'm not sure it was of the best quality, but it was enough that any of the small things we may have missed can be done tomorrow. As I was leaving work it was still raining and I was beginning to get very frustrated with our weather, though this time it was more like a fine mist than rain. The roads had dried a little and there weren't any of the large puddles laying around, so getting home was easier than getting in. Once home I immediately jumped into Conan, wanting to get more resources to continue my base building. I didn't do much else, just lead a rhino pet around as my moving storage box and went mining again. This spent up my time quite nicely to the D&D session that was planned for today.  This one Sil runs and does so weekly. It's in a setting called Eberron that's kind of steampunk with big airships and really early guns etc. I play a samurai type character who's good at being a glass cannon. It was almost called off as a couple of the others didn't turn up. I'm not sure what's going on but it feels like a lot of them aren't really that interested in playing this any more. I'm really enjoying it but half the group seem don’t interested in engaging with anything in the game. Sometimes it feels like it's just me and Wolf playing rather than with Pyro, Snipe, Lib, and Xander too and I'm supposed to be a quiet character. I don't like letting questions just hang though and to keep things moving forward someone has to step up and speak else we'd not do anything. Oh well, I'm enjoying it even if the others don't so if I have to do more talking bits I will, just write it in as character development or something. The actual session was the start of the current big quest. We were sent out by our sponsor to find her missing husband, who had reportedly had his ship sunk in dangerous waters. Last session we had found him acting as a pirate king, but has been forced into the position by a clan of fish people who hold the rest of his crew hostage. Today we began a trip to go and rescue his crew so that we could take everyone home. We ran into some big plant creatures, which, being the klutz my character is, when we rolled the dice to see if we could sneak past I rolled the worst possible number, a 1. So my character tripped over a branch or something onto Wolf's character (who had also rolled low, though not as badly), onto one of the plants, the thing promptly attacked and swallowed her whole. This was a little frustrating as it was not the first time I've been swallowed by a monster and that time my character actually died, lucky we had a scroll of resurrection to save her that time. This time however I got my next turn of combat in before the monster and I slaughtered it from the inside, that was kinda fun. There were some other talking bits and Pyro’s character had his fortune told, of course it was of his death, so no real surprise there from an out of character perspective and that was for the most part the session. David cooked dinner ready for the session ending then I went back to Conan. This time I went hunting for sabertooth cubs to turn into more pets. Sabertooths are probably the best pets in the game so I've been wanting one for a while now. The first few locations I tried had lots of deadly sabertooths, but no cubs so I ended up looking it up on YouTube. I followed the guide and thankfully it was in date, letting me catch two cubs with relative ease. I took them back to the pens and set them to grow up, hoping one will be a greater, the stronger version, or even both if I'm super lucky. With the food I have given them it’s a 15% chance, the highest, baring going through a big dungeon for some very specific and rare resources. After that, I tried to do more resource collecting, but David put on some funny YouTube which I got very distracted by. I ended up just giving up and watching with him as it was the comedian Gabriell “Fluffy” Iglesias who I really enjoy watching. He's quite likely my favourite comedian.
