Work was so busy today. Again I didn’t sleep well, I don't really know what's going on there but I'm getting a bit fed up with it. So I skipped my shower for extra time in bed which helped a little bit. Once up, I didn't take long to get ready so I just tried to sit and relax for the five or ten minutes I had spare. Finally I had to head out and found that once again it was raining. One day, I cant believe that we only had one single day of nice weather, I don’t understand how that can even be a thing. It was a fairly light rain so I only got a bit damp as I drove to work, but it was enough to make me feel even more like I should have just stayed in bed today. Work itself was ok to start with but it didn’t take long for it to get busy. And boy did it get busy. I was on waitressing and towards the end of the day I was literally running around the room trying to keep up with taking orders, and keeping customers happy. I think I did ok, apparently one of my supervisors had a customer say how good I was, though I’m sure the others get those kinds of comments too. Even though it was busy we still had people making our lives as difficult as possible. It’s like some people enjoy seeing others struggle. I had one group of four people decide they all wanted to pay separately rather than, like a normal group, who would have one person pay and sort it out later, or maybe just have a different person pay the next time they go out together, or just something, anything more sensible and less time consuming. Luckily they all ordered one thing each so it was easy enough to work out what they each needed to pay, but if they had ordered multiple things it would have been a nightmare, I'm no good at maths. Like the three women before them wanted to pay separately, thankfully they were happy with just dividing it equally, but I had to ask one of them to use their phones to work it out. I think we may have got a couple of extra pence out of that as they rounded up the last half penny or so to make it easier. So there were plenty of people who like to watch the word burn, but you do get the odd nice one too. I had one lady who asked which food would be quicker, no doubt to help herself as she was hungry, but it also helped us as one of her choices had a big pile up whereas the other was basically ready to come out the moment the order was made. This meant that I didn’t add to the pile and a customer went home happy rather than having to wait even longer. I also had a nice conversation about tea with another lady. I’ve always loved the smell of peppermint tea, but don't like hot drinks so have never given it a go. As I gave the lady her tea she took a good sniff of it and I mentioned the fact. She suggested that I try it cold, that it works really well as a refreshing drink in the summer with some ice. I quite like that idea and will definitely try it next year. Going home it was dry again, even if still a bit gloomy. The roads were only damp in places and there were only a few other cars around so I felt a little safer like I did yesterday compared to when it’s really wet. Now I’m driving again I'm gaining a bit more confidence and beginning to speed up to the kind of levels I was at before the COVID-19 lock-down happened. I’m not a confident person, so it’s a slow growing thing, especially on the corners, but I’m getting there. I couldn’t wait to get my kit off and just sit down and relax. I’d definitely done my exercise for the day with all the running around and I needed a break. I loaded up Conan once sorted and settled as I'd said to Pyro that I’d help him kill a dragon and find the map room with him today. Unfortunately it seems that my PC was having none of it. Once we were both online, the lag was terrible. For me just turning the camera around was taking half a minute, so I felt there was no chance I was going to be able to do anything in-game. It probably would have been ok if I’d let it settle, but I really didn’t have the energy to fight with it so decided to move to the comfort of the sofa and play on the Xbox instead.  It was hard to choose a game to play, I just couldn’t find anything I really felt like playing even with Xbox gamepass. I eventually settled on Batman: Arkham Knight but it needed to be installed so while I waited, I watched some YouTube. Recently I’ve been really enjoying the arts and crafts type videos, this particular set was of a guy making the final fantasy sword out of lollipop sticks. It must have taken him literally weeks to complete the project but it was super cool once it was done, it even had all the right moving parts and things.  Now, I have played the other batman games, but always on PC so playing on the console was a slightly new experience for me. It was a little confusing to start with and I’m not all that good with a controller anyway so I found myself blundering through the opening scenes with a bit of difficulty. I’ve also never been all that good at the fighting portions of the game anyway, so those were interesting when I did the first few. I set the difficulty to easy so I didn’t die for any of the fights but I came close a couple of times. The addition of the car is really cool. The controls are a little tricky but I think I’m enjoying it overall, I know there was a lot of controversy about the car when it first came out. I personally wish there were some parts that you got to use the jet, as in the cutscenes where it appears it looks super cool. I ended up playing well into the night, partly due to the fact my feet still hurt from work so I didn’t want to walk to the bedroom, and partly because I was enjoying the game a lot. I think I stopped around three in the morning, good thing I don’t have work tomorrow.
