CHAPTER NINE

CHAPTER NINE Jessica’s POV I already knew they had something in mind, so I didn't bother looking too closely at the drinks. The maid brought them over, bowed timidly, and quickly returned to her post as more students crowded around the bar to order their drinks. I stared at the glass in front of me. “We'll drink it, right?” I asked uncertainly. “What if there's something inside it?” “Are you afraid of death?” Justice asked with a small chuckle. “Are you seriously asking me that question?” I retorted. “Of course I am! I don't even know what they could have put inside this drink.” Justice picked up his glass and examined it carefully. “The fact is, they can't kill you.” He took a small sip, calm and composed. I looked at him suspiciously. “You really trust this?” “I trust my judgment.” I sighed. “Okay, then I trust you too. But if I die, just know that my spirit won't rest in peace.” Justice laughed. “Drama queen.” “I'm serious!” “Drink.” I carefully lifted the glass to my lips and took a tiny sip. At first, nothing happened. I relaxed slightly. Then, a strange warmth spread through my body. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Something wasn't right. “Justice…” He immediately looked at me. “What?” “I don't feel good.” His expression changed. “What are you feeling?” “My body feels hot.” I rubbed my arms, trying to understand what was happening. Then the itching started. I scratched my arm and looked at Justice with panic in my eyes. “Justice, something is wrong.” He immediately put down his glass. “How much did you drink?” “Only a little.” He stood up. “We're leaving. Now.” “But the party—” “Forget the party.” He took my arm and guided me away from the crowd. As we walked through the hallway, my head began to feel strangely heavy. “Justice…” “I'm here.” “Don't leave me.” “I won't.” His voice was calm, but I could tell he was worried. We reached one of the empty rooms near the back of the building. Justice opened the door and helped me inside. I immediately rushed toward the bathroom and splashed cold water on my face. It barely helped. “It's not working,” I said in frustration. Justice stood outside the bathroom door. “Stay there. I'm going to find something that can help.” “Where are you going?” “To call someone.” “No!” My voice came out louder than I expected. Justice stopped. I lowered my voice. “Please don't leave me alone.” He looked at me for a moment before nodding. “Fine. I'm staying.” I sat on the edge of the bed, breathing heavily. Justice grabbed a bottle of water and handed it to me. “Small sips.” I drank slowly. “What do you think they put inside the drink?” I asked. “I don't know yet.” “You drank yours too.” “I did.” “Then why aren't you as affected as me?” “I barely drank anything.” I looked down at my hands. They were trembling. “This has to be Clara and Larry.” Justice's jaw tightened. “I know.” “I'm so angry right now.” “Don't waste your energy being angry. We need to figure out exactly what they did.” He pulled out his phone. “I'm calling my driver.” “Why?” “Because we're leaving.” “But what about everyone at the party?” “They can continue partying without us.” I almost laughed despite everything. “You sound like you're already planning revenge.” Justice looked at me. “I'm planning to make sure whoever did this doesn't get another opportunity.” Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. We both froze. Justice immediately stood. “Who is it?” There was no answer. He looked at me. “Stay here.” He moved toward the door and opened it slightly. Nobody was there. Only an empty hallway. Justice looked around before closing the door again. My heart was pounding. “Who was it?” “Nobody.” “That's creepy.” “I know.” He returned to my side. For a few seconds, neither of us spoke. Then my phone vibrated. I picked it up. There was a new message from an unknown number. You should have listened to the warning. My blood ran cold. “Justice…” He took the phone from my hand and read the message. His expression became completely serious. “Jessica, we're not dealing with just a stupid prank anymore.” I swallowed hard. “What do we do?” He looked directly into my eyes. “We find out who sent this.” Outside the room, the party continued. Music blasted through the building. Students laughed and danced, completely unaware of what was happening. But inside that room, everything had changed. Someone had planned this. Someone was watching us. And whoever it was had just made their next move. To be continued…
