CHAPTER THIRTEEN Jessica’s POV I stared at the laptop screen. The video had ended, but Clara's voice kept replaying in my head. “We need to make sure Jessica doesn't find out.” My hands trembled. I reached for my phone and immediately called Justice. He answered after the first ring. “Jessica?” “Justice, you need to come here.” His voice changed instantly. “What happened?” “I found something.” “What?” “A flash drive.” There was silence. “Where did you find it?” “Under my bed.” “What?” “I know. It sounds crazy, but listen to me. There was a video on it.” “What was in the video?” “Us. At the party.” Justice went quiet. Then I heard him breathe out. “Jessica, lock your door.” “I already did.” “Don't open it for anyone.” “Justice—” “I'll be there.” The call ended. I looked toward my bedroom door. For some reason, I suddenly felt like someone was standing on the other side. I slowly walked toward it. Then— Knock. Knock. Knock. I froze. “Jessica?” It was my father's voice. I released a breath. “Dad?” “Yes. Open the door.” I reached for the handle. Then I stopped. Something felt wrong. My father never knocked like that. “Dad, what do you want?” Silence. I stared at the door. “Dad?” No answer. I stepped backward. Then my phone vibrated. A message appeared. DON'T OPEN THE DOOR. My heart dropped. I stared at the message. Then another one came. THAT ISN'T YOUR FATHER. I covered my mouth. Someone was outside my room. Someone pretending to be my father. The knocking started again. “Jessica, open the door.” This time, the voice sounded different. Colder. I grabbed my phone and quietly moved toward the window. Then I heard the bedroom door handle turn. Someone was trying to open it. I stepped back. “Who are you?” No answer. The handle moved again. Harder. I quickly called Justice. He answered immediately. “I'm almost there.” “Justice…” “What?” “Someone is outside my room.” “What?” “They're trying to get inside.” “Stay away from the door. I'm coming.” Suddenly, the handle stopped moving. Silence filled the room. I waited. Nothing. Then I heard footsteps moving away. I slowly approached the door. I didn't open it. Instead, I looked through the small gap beneath it. A shadow passed. Then disappeared. My phone vibrated again. I looked down. YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE VIDEO ALONE. My blood ran cold. Then another message appeared. NOW WATCH WHAT HAPPENS TO JUSTICE. My eyes widened. “Justice…” I immediately called him again. No answer. I called again. Nothing. Then I heard a loud sound outside the house. A car had stopped. I rushed to the window. Justice's black car was parked outside. But something was wrong. The driver's door was open. Justice was nowhere in sight. “Justice!” I grabbed my phone and ran toward the bedroom door. Then I stopped. Someone had left something on the floor outside my room. A black envelope. I slowly opened the door. The hallway was empty. I picked up the envelope. Inside was a photograph. My heart stopped. It was a picture of Justice. Taken only minutes ago. On the back, there were four words. YOUR TURN, JESSICA. I looked toward the window. Then my phone rang. Unknown number. I answered without speaking. A distorted voice whispered: “Come find him.” The call ended. I stood completely still. Then I heard another sound. A car engine started outside. I ran to the window. A black car sped away into the night. And sitting in the back seat— I saw Justice. TO BE CONTINUED…
