CHAPTER TWELVE
Justice’s POV
I couldn't stop thinking about the message.
I KNOW WHAT YOU TWO ARE PLANNING.
Whoever sent it knew about us.
And that meant we couldn't trust anyone.
The car finally stopped in front of Jessica's house.
I turned toward her.
“Are you sure you're okay?”
She nodded, but I could see the worry in her eyes.
“I'll be fine.”
I wasn't convinced.
“Jessica, don't go anywhere alone tonight.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Are you giving me orders now?”
“No. I'm trying to keep you safe.”
She smiled slightly.
“Okay, boss.”
I shook my head.
“Goodnight, Jessica.”
“Goodnight, Justice.”
She stepped out of the car and walked toward the house.
I watched until she entered safely.
Then I turned to my driver.
“Let's go.”
As we drove away, I looked through the rear window.
Something caught my attention.
A black car.
It was parked across the road.
The same car I'd noticed earlier.
“Stop.”
The driver immediately slowed down.
I stared at the black car.
Its windows were completely dark.
“Do you know that car?”
“No, sir.”
“Keep driving.”
The car behind us started moving too.
My eyes narrowed.
“Don't lose it.”
“Yes, sir.”
We turned onto another street.
The black car followed.
My phone suddenly vibrated.
I looked at the screen.
Unknown number.
YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT ALONE.
My jaw tightened.
Another message came.
NOW YOU'RE BOTH INVOLVED.
I stared at the words.
“Who are you?” I whispered.
The driver looked at me through the mirror.
“Sir?”
“Nothing. Just keep driving.”
I quickly took a screenshot of the messages.
Then I noticed something else.
The black car was gone.
I looked behind us again.
Nothing.
It had disappeared.
“That makes no sense.”
“What happened, sir?”
“Nothing.”
But I knew one thing.
Whoever was behind this wasn't finished.
And neither was I.
Jessica’s POV
I closed my bedroom door and leaned against it.
My heart was still beating fast.
I pulled out the mysterious note again.
I KNOW WHAT YOU TWO ARE PLANNING.
I placed it on my desk.
Then my phone vibrated.
I froze.
Another unknown number.
I opened the message.
LOOK UNDER YOUR BED.
My eyes widened.
“No way.”
I slowly looked toward my bed.
I didn't move.
What if someone had actually put something there?
I grabbed my phone tightly and switched on the flashlight.
Then I slowly bent down.
Nothing.
I sighed in relief.
“Seriously?”
I was about to stand when I noticed something pushed against the wall.
A small black object.
I reached for it.
It was a tiny flash drive.
My heart dropped.
I stared at it.
Why was this in my room?
My phone vibrated again.
PLAY IT.
I swallowed hard.
I connected the flash drive to my laptop.
A single video appeared.
I clicked it.
The screen went black.
Then the video started.
It showed the party.
My eyes widened.
Someone had recorded everything.
The drinks.
Justice.
Me.
The room.
The moment we left.
I covered my mouth.
Then the video suddenly changed.
It showed Clara and Larry talking.
I leaned closer to the screen.
I couldn't hear everything clearly.
But then I heard one sentence.
Clara's voice.
“We need to make sure Jessica doesn't find out.”
My heart stopped.
Then Larry spoke.
“She won't.”
The video ended.
I stared at the screen.
Clara and Larry were definitely involved.
But there was something else.
Just before the video ended, another person walked into the room.
Their face wasn't visible.
I replayed it.
Again.
And again.
I couldn't see who it was.
Then my phone vibrated one more time.
NOW YOU KNOW TOO MUCH.
I dropped the phone.
Someone wasn't just watching us.
Someone was warning us.
And whoever they were...
They were getting closer.
