CHAPTER 13 The weather improved and turned summery again. It was t-shirt weather. Claire decided that it was worth having another look around the outhouses. George didn’t stop her, although he didn’t offer any help either. She went around the buildings again, avoiding the shed that included the mangled table and chairs. She peeked in, but nothing had changed in there, so she left without a closer look. The large doors that had previously been locked were open. At first, all Claire could see were bales of hay. It struck her as odd as there were no animals that needed the silage, but a house like this was likely to have lots of land and probably had kept animals at some point.
