CHAPTER 6 Claire knew it was late the following morning when she woke up. Sun was streaming in through a crack in the curtains. Excited by the sudden burst of daylight, Claire sprang up and ran to the window. She pulled the curtains aside and stared down at the front lawn bathing in sunlight. The grass was green, the line of trees at the bottom of the garden was green, the sky was blue and her mood was high. She wanted to get outside and enjoy it. She would finally have the opportunity to explore her surroundings a little further. She could at the very least walk around the garden and see what the house looked like on the other side.
