Captain Green

After returning to the city, Kalina helped with the rescue of the victim from the incident. Only after a few hours, the mess in the city is solved. After a long day out solving the incident, Kalina decided to visit the United Heroes headquarters to get more details.

She also took the time to look at Max before headed to another room in the building. Max hasn’t wake up, but all of his vital sign is stable. The only reason he passed out is because he is exhausted. Heading to another room in the United Heroes headquarter, Kalina immediately finds the person she is looking for.

Donning broccoli hairstyle, anyone will immediately recognize him if they saw him. Captain Green, the hero that used to be Max’s idol back in the day.

“Captain, do we already have a full report for today’s incident?”

Captain Green then sighed before looking at Kalina. He knows that he promised to become her guardian and answer her question, but if it is possible, he doesn’t want to answer her question since he knows that she will blame herself if she found out about it. Not to mention that he knows very well that the reason why she is so hung up on this incident is because of a particular man that was involved in this incident.

After all, Captain Green has read the incident report and knows what Kalina is searching for. Looking at the woman that he already considered as her niece, Captain Green feels very helpless facing her. Firstly, it is because he knows very well what is driving her so far to this point. Secondly, he couldn’t help her at all.

“Firstly, can you do something about your face?”

“What do you mean?”

“Your look is like a devil right now. I believe you could swallow a person alive.”

Hearing Captain Green's comments, it was Kalina’s turn to let out a sigh. She knows very well that she needs to keep her cool as a hero, no matter the condition she was in. After a few minutes, Kalina's expression has returned to normal, and only then she started to talk.

“So, do we have the report for today’s incident?”

“Of course. However, I couldn’t give it to you before since you’re in no condition to read it. Here, you can read it yourself.”

After taking the report that Captain Green hand out to her, Kalina’s expression turned for the worse again. Fifty-nine official heroes were killed in the incident. Just from reading that, Kalina wanted to crumble the report on her hand because of anger. However, she holds back since she needed to know the complete information.

“Ripperjaw is there, and he is the one that killed Drake.”

“I know. I also heard from Selly that you chased after him alone and failed. Don’t you remember that I’ve told you before that since you decided to become a teacher in the academy, you’re not to take action rashly?”

Hearing Captain Green is saying that, Kalina immediately exploded. She wasn’t in a good mood today, and she doesn’t think that she deserved to be scolded today.

“So, do you think I should just stay silent and do nothing? Seeing many people killed today, do you think that I should watch like a bystander? Captain Green, I thought, as a friend of my father, you should know very well what kind of hero I am since he is my idol.”

Hearing that, Captain Green couldn’t say anything more. After all, he still feels a pang of guilt inside him. He thinks that Kalina’s father’s death has something to do with him. After a moment of silence, it seemed that Kalina has calmed down again, and it is time for him to talk.

“Kalina, I know what you’re trying to do. However, you should know that there is a thin difference between enforcing justice and committing a crime.”

Hearing what Captain Green said, Kalina gritted her teeth. She knows very well what Captain Green is trying to tell her. As virtuous as a hero is, they are not permitted to kill a villain unless there is no other way. Suppose every hero is permitted to kill every villain they meet. In that case, there is no way of preventing a psychopath from becoming a hero and killing a villain freely just because he is on the right side and the enemy is evil.

It has happened once before. A hero by the name of the dark knight. He never really take any mission but focusing on patrolling the streets. His operation time is every night, and every villain he caught is killed on the spot.

Not long after, the dark knight is branded as a villain himself since what he is doing is clearly the opposite of the hero's code of conduct.

“You should know that Ripperjaw managed to flee along with the portal, and there is no way to track him. You also know that we don't know where are the base of the evil mastermind.”

“So, what you say that he managed to get away again? Do you know, I come to sector three, and from the people I found, 103 people have deep wound cuts caused by him. Can’t you see? Just today, he already killed 103 people no, 114 people if you include the heroes in the boxing arena.”

Hearing Kalina’s word, Captain Green knows very well what she wanted to say, but there’s really nothing that he could do. After all, tracking the trace of a portal is something impossible to do.

“So, what do you want to do?”

“Please, give me special permission to chase after him.”

Hearing that, Captain Green sighed once more. This isn’t the first time she is asking for this. He always refused her request, but he knows very well that it couldn’t be postponed any longer.

“Do you know what is going to happen if I give you the special permission?”

“Isn’t it just making things easier for me, and I will be given the freedom to investigate the case?”

“That’s what you think. By giving you a permission, it is just like saying that the association is openly declaring war on the evil mastermind.”
