Evil mastermind's base

1318 Words
Inside the Evil mastermind's secret base, contrary to everyone’s expectation that the villain’s lair should be dark and give off a mysterious feeling, it was bright and clean. In the middle of what seemed to be a great hall, a blue portal is showing some ripples. In the next moment, Chang’e appeared from it while two rabbits are holding a stretcher with Richard in tow. After coming out from the portal, a man with glasses and a lab coat is already waiting there. “What happened?” “Well, Richard is defeated and needed treatment right now.” “Then, let’s hurry and ask your rabbit to bring him to the medical ward.” As she has successfully brought Richard back to the base, Chang’e finally feels a burden has been taken off from her shoulder. Chang’e also didn’t forget to wave her hand as a greeting towards another person that is sweating profusely while having his hand touching the portal. “Nice job, Jim.” The person, however too busy concentrating as he couldn’t give her a reply. It was the person with the portal ability that becomes one of the key players in this strategy. Moving past the big hall and leaving Jim behind, Chang’e walked into what seemed to be a control room with numerous monitors on the wall. She approached a figure that is sitting in front of what seemed the main computer. “How’s the situation?” The reply comes immediately, and judging from the feminine voice, the figure overseeing the operation is a woman. “The kids have successfully retreated from the city and are on their way towards the exit. Jim doesn’t have it easy since he is maintaining six portals right now. I’m thinking of starting to cut off some portal to reduce his burden.” “How’s the United heroes association response?” “Well, they’re on the decline. Back in the day, they will arrive within five minutes. Oh, Alexandra is on the move.” “Where is she going?” “Ah!” As if seeing something surprising, the woman on the console let out a yelp. “What is it, Manager?” “I’m just surprised to see a familiar face. She sure has grown.” The screen with Kalina inside of it then got enlarged as the woman called Manager examined her. “I’ve always known that her ability is special, but to think that she has grown to this extent.” “Who is she, Manager?” “Well, you can consider her as my niece. It sure brings back some memories. The last time I see her personally, she is only three or four years old.” “Oh, is she someone we need to watch out for?” “You can say so. Anyway, I can more or less guess where she is going.” After that, the Manager did something with the keyboard, and inside the abandoned church, a man received a message. After reading it for a bit, the man said something to the people there. “The Manager has sent an order. We will be retreating. However, six or seven of you should stay behind and distract the people chasing after us.” A portal appeared in front of the man, and he immediately walked inside. If Kalina is here, she will realize that it was the man that she is chasing after. Following that, the people waiting there also heard a signal from their ally that acts as a sentry that a helicopter is approaching their place, and he is already trying to attack it. Soon after, a loud commotion is heard as six people trying to walk outside to help. The rest of them is trying to enter the portal while suddenly the ground above them is opened from Alexandra’s punch. The next scene is just a replay of what happened before. Kalina destroyed the portal, and the rest of the people managed to be caught. If there’s one thing that feels out of place is how these people don’t have any worry of being caught and didn’t even show any protest when asked to stop the intruder. Usually, they should know that they will be left behind if things go south, but they fully accept their fate as if they don’t have any emotion. As the member of the evil mastermind arrived one by one through the portal, the Manager left her seat and walked out of the control room. Chang’e also followed behind her as she knows that the operation more or less has been concluded. “Good job, everyone.” However, the member of the evil mastermind doesn’t show too much reaction to that as they quickly go out from the bright hall. The Manager that is being neglected doesn’t show any anger on her face as she keeps smiling as she waved goodbye. “Manager, do you really have to act that way?” The one asking the question is a man, eating an apple that looked more like candy compared to his big built. If Max is here, he would immediately recognize this person as he is searching for him. The person is none other than Lindt. “What do you mean, Lindt?” “You know, they are just puppets controlled by Stef. If you want to praise someone, shouldn’t it be Stef?” “Well, that is not completely true. After all, we still have our ‘real’ members participating in this operation. Hank, Ripperjaw, including Chang’e, we can say that half of our fighting force is participating.” “I still don’t understand. Why you didn’t send Vanya and me this time?” “Lindt, our goal this time isn’t to cause destruction. You know it already.” “But, we’re going to execute that plan anyway. What’s the difference between sending me now and later?” “You might not understand, but the difference is quite significant. What we’re doing today is showing the people watching the broadcast how powerless are the heroes that they used to praise and idolized. Although Hank and Ripperjaw still cause mayhem, the number of victims is still acceptable. If we create m******e and destruction on a bigger scale, they will look at us as a bad guy.” “But, aren’t we the bad guy?” “If we do it now, they will sympathize with the heroes. Saying that this is the evil mastermind’s fault. That’s not what we want. We want them to think that the United heroes association can’t be trusted and relied upon anymore. There’s a big difference here. After the United heroes losing the masses’ favor, then you’re free to cause chaos.” Feeling that the Manager is just talking in a circle, Lindt feels a headache coming, so he decided to just gloss over it. After all, thinking about things like this isn’t his forte. “Oh well. Whatever then. Just tell me when I can let loose. After all, you only give me the chance to go out to blow some stupid monument.” “Don’t worry, Lindt. It won’t be long, I promise you.” “Well, you better. I’m feeling rusty already. I’m afraid I’ll blow up this place instead.” Lindt then walked out of the bright hall with an evil grin.
