Meeting a girl II

1260 Words
“It just something feels suspicious. My name is Yuna. I don’t know whether you heard it earlier or not. My brother was actually one of the victims of the incident ten years ago. I couldn’t come to the memorial monument on the day of the anniversary, but suddenly I heard the news that it was under repair when I want to revisit it. I just wanted to see whether it was true or not, but seeing that there’s even a police line here, it feels suspicious.” Hearing Yuna’s explanation, Max only shows a flat face without any expression. To be honest, he couldn’t make heads or tails from her words as he didn’t know whether she is lying or not. Her follow-up sentences, however, stunned Max even more. “What? There’s one thing for the security personnel not to react when they heard my name as he is someone from the older generation. However, how can you didn’t show any reaction when I say my name?” Max is confused when Yuna said that. Is she someone famous? Max has that crossed his thoughts, but he decided to ignore it. “Should I recognize you? Are you someone famous?” “Hoel! Don’t you know me? Did you live in a cave, or do you not have a TV in your home?” “What’s the point of you being famous with you asking around here?” “Whoa! You really left me speechless. How can someone like you exist? Even if you don’t know me before, shouldn’t you be smitten with my appearances?” Max feel like he couldn’t stand the girl anymore and was about to leave before the girl stopped him in his track again. “Seriously, you didn’t know me? Let me introduce my name again. It’s Kim Yuna. I’m not one to brag, but you will see my face very often if you turn on the TV. I’m 15 years old and the youngest person in the history to obtain a hero license.” Hearing what Yuna just said, Max needed to look at her once again. Ever since that incident, Max has never associated himself anymore with even the H letter of the word hero. He didn’t watch the news or anything regarding heroes anymore as he distanced himself from it. However, hearing Yuna’s explanation just now, if she is really what she claimed to be, then she really must be famous. Usually, a hero will only get their license after graduating from the hero school, and it is generally at 18 years old. To think that Yuna managed to get her license when she is only fifteen years old means that she is extraordinary in her own way. However, Max feels annoyed by her even more after she revealed her identity. For Max, who couldn’t even become a hero anymore even though it was his dream when he was a child, it was a mixture of jealousy and anger. “So, what does the famous miss want from me again?” “I want you to tell me what did you see, hear, or experience on the day you visited the memorial before it goes under renovation.” “It’s just another visiting day for me since it was the anniversary of the incident ten years ago. There’s nothing out of place.” “So, does it mean you lost someone in the incident too?” “I believe we’re not close enough for me to tell you my story.” Yuna tried to know more about Max and baiting him to divulge some more information, but he kept his lips tight. “Alright, you have heard from me. I will take my leave now.” Max wanted to leave, but then other remarks from Yuna make it hard for him to walk away. “Really? That’s weird. I can only feel it faintly as it has been several days since the day of the accident. However, there’s clearly a residue of fire elemental in the area. You might doubt me, but I am 100% sure about it since I am a fire-based superpower user too, so I can somehow feel it still lingers in the air.” “Are you saying you could track down the culprit?” Max realized that he had said the wrong thing the moment he said that. He has clearly fallen to Yuna’s scheme as she is grinning widely right now. “Ha! You finally can’t keep your silent act anymore.” “What are you saying? I didn’t say anything.” “I clearly hear you said a word starting with the letter c. was it the culprit?” “You must have misheard it.” “Oh, come on. I already know that it wasn’t something like an accident. I am not stupid, and since I have a high affinity for fire power, I can know that someone used a fire-based superpower in this place. The memorial monument couldn’t possibly be broken and in need of repair, but someone must have destroyed it, right?” Max didn’t know how but Yuna can pinpoint the fact that someone used a fire-based superpower in this area. That means that if he is with Yuna, there is a chance that he could track down the culprit and caught Lindt. “Say, are you really able to feel the residue of the fire-based superpower?” “Yes, it was something that I am able to do.” “Then, could you find the person that used their superpower?” “It might be hard since the distance between the person who used the fire-based superpower and me is far. However, if the person is near, I might be able to find this person since I have registered the fire imprint.” “Fire imprint?” “Although everyone has the same elemental superpower, there are different imprints for each person. Just like a fingerprint, each person has their own unique imprint. However, I can only find out fire-based superpower and couldn’t do the same with the other element.” Hearing Yuna’s explanation, if what she said is true, then Max will really be able to find Lindt if he works together with Yuna. On the other hand, Yuna sees that Max is contemplating; she knows that her guess is correct. Max might really know something about the incident, and she will be able to hear something from his mouth. “Hearing you asked about my superpower and the possibility of finding the owner of the fire imprint, I guess you really know something about the accident on the day of the anniversary. Why don’t you just tell me about it? there’s no point in hiding it anymore since the cat’s out of the bag.” Max is seriously weighing the possibility of telling Yuna about it. However, he still feels hesitant since the more they interacted; there might be a chance that Yuna will know that he has a superpower too. After all, any unlicensed usage of a superpower will be counted as a crime.
