Overseer

1122 Words
While still holding the list of the potential teammates, Max looked at Kalina. “Big sis, what do you mean that I am the one that has to recruit and convince them?” “Right now, I don’t have any more money to spare. That is why this new member will be paid by you. So, it would be best if you thought of how much money you can offer and more importantly, you’re the one doing the recruitment. You have to convince them to work for you with how much salary you offered to them. If you can’t even do this, I don’t think you could lead a team in the future. Just think of it as a little test.” Kalina has her reasons for doing this. Aside from testing Max’s leadership qualities, she also wants him to find a member that Max is comfortable with. A team that is built on money alone won’t be successful. So finding chemistry among the team members is one of the most important things. This is why she left it all to Max. “Alright, you can think about it later. But, for now, let’s get your body back in shape first. You still have a long way to go before you can start recruiting. You don’t even know how much you could pay them.” Kalina stated the truth, and Max realizes that it was true. He doesn’t even understand how much money he could make per month. So, the first thing before recruiting a teammate is finding out how much he will be able to give the salary. Before that, Max has another task of getting back in shape for hero action. Three months on the patient’s bed definitely bring down his stamina and strength. After finishing his daily training, Max realizing how he enjoyed his training time. After all, doing something continuously for 49 days can become a habit and training for three years have turned Max into a training junkie. Getting into the bath and change into a new set of clothes, Max now got the time he needed to look at the list that Kalina gave him earlier. Going through the list once, Max realizes that the heroes’ world is vast, and he is just a tiny clump in the ocean. Yet, it wasn’t only the heroes that are shining brightly in front of the TV. The team behind them is no less remarkable. Reading from the list that Kalina gave him, Max becomes more pessimistic about himself. Not because he isn’t confident that he could rope them into joining his team but because of the amount of salary that he could give them. The list of the name that is given to Maxx by Kalina is full of impressive students. Their academic records and past performance are all listed there. Max thinks that the intelligence member should be sufficient if she or he can operate computers while giving Max information, but he is totally wrong. The intelligence member has a code given to them by the United Heroes association. That is ‘the overseer’ as they oversee the battle, situation and providing information to the heroes. There’s no other title more fitting than this. Looking at the list of the people on hand, Max realized that the overseer class is divided by several ranks based on their marks. Like the heroes, the lowest one will be D while the highest will be A, and maybe there’s an S-rank that Max doesn’t know yet. If a hero is graded by strength, speed, energy and sensitivity, the overseer has their own criteria. Intel, which is information gathering, how fast someone searched the United Heroes database, compiling the villain’s data and conveying it to the hero on scene. Support that is leaning to the amount of support that they could provide on a battle by maximizing the use of the intel that they have found. From finding the best place to set up an ambush to predicting the enemy movement. A high rank in support might even provide the hero with a weapon he or she really needs at a critical moment in battle. Just like sending out a gun when the hero really needs it. Hacking, a rare specification grade and Max is surprised at how the support can help out. If appropriately utilized, hacking can be used to cause the villain’s weapon to malfunction or even operate a crane to attack the enemy. Last but not least, judgment. It shows how efficient the decision made by the support affect the battlefield. For example, a support decision to decide which path to take, left or right, in the shortest amount of time, might make a difference in between the number of lives that a hero can save in a dangerous situation. Just by reading the information on the grading points for the overseer, Max can understand how important it is to have support in a team. He realizes before that the overseer is essential but not that important. After looking at the points on which they are graded, he understands why a team is formed. Support can greatly relieve a hero’s mind from thinking of other unnecessary stuff and focus entirely on the battle. Because of that, having good support equals to giving a wing to a tiger. Thus, a hero battle capabilities might skyrocket when paired with good support. Looking at the list of names, Max believed that it was the cream of the top of this year United Heroes graduation student. Some people have C-rank and B-rank grade for some criteria, although their overall score as the overseer is still D-rank. Just from the list alone, Max can see the potential for the growth of his team and the care that Kalina gave him when handing over the list. She knows what is best for him. The next problem will be determining the salary for them. While Max is thinking about it, he suddenly remembers that he has someone to ask about it. It is his new friend, Ken. As a D-rank hero working in a big agency, he should have known about these things that Max doesn’t know about. It seemed that Kalina had planned everything, from bringing him to visit the Rising Star Agency to hand over the list of names. Max doesn’t feel manipulated at all. Instead, he feels grateful since he knows that doing all of this will benefits his future.
